Is there really a height limitation at Seletar Airport area?? If 103 gets extended, it is a good move. Expect 85 loading to drop further.

dun think so.. more of like narrow road/junction at the picadilly/oxford road junction? unless they are expanding now... too long never go in there...

Joint News Release by the Land Transport Authority & SBS Transit - Bus service 103 to be Extended to Yishun Bus Interchange from June 2015
27 May 2015 - From 14 June 2015, SBS Transit bus service 103 will be extended to Yishun Bus Interchange as part of the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP). Service 103 currently operates from Serangoon Bus Interchange and loops at West Camp Road.
2 The extension will provide Yishun residents with a new direct link to the Seletar Aerospace Park. It will also enhance connectivity to Yishun MRT and Bus Interchange, and to key amenities such as Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, SAFRA Yishun Country Club and Northpoint Shopping Centre.
3 Service 103 will be extended from West Camp Road and ply Yishun Avenue 1, Yishun Avenue 11, Yishun Central and Yishun Avenue 2 before ending its journey at Yishun Bus Interchange. The service’s operating hours from Serangoon Bus Interchange will remain unchanged from 6am to 12.15am on weekdays, and from 6am to 12am on weekends and public holidays. From Yishun Bus Interchange, the service will operate from 6am to 12am daily.

Sort of expected, especially with that two new bus stops springing up at Yishun Ave 8.
Good and sensible move. May mean even less pax for 85.... and 853 as well. Pax wanting to go Yishun from Serangoon Central may take 103 - possibly faster as well since it avoids AMK and the jam-prone Lentor, not to mention the long wait for 853. Kudos for having another SBST service in Yishun.
Folks should now REALLY avoid stopping their cars for a smoke/chat/fish on the Yishun-bound side of Yishun Dam. The double yellow lines are there for a reason.
And finally a proper basic day bus service for the looong, big and empty bus stop outside KTPH.
In fact when the direct TPE <-> Seletar West Link interchange is complete, we might see one or some of 39/85/965/969 using that way instead of Lentor->SLE, since the Lentor-SLE-TPE stretch serves nobody until Jln Kayu roundabout/Punggol except folks staying at Springside/Springleaf who fancy a walk along the Sg. Seletar river to the bus stops at Lentor.

yup here it is :)
Many people should be happy with this
apparently press release came out 1 week earlier than expected, probably to let residents note the changes
In time to come there could possibly be new bus stops along Ave 1 near the dam once the GEMS World Academy is in full swing and the Meadow Springs BTO TOP's in Q4 2018. The current new bus stop at Ave 8 is a little far and isolated to walk to/from.
Part of the roadside heavy vehicle park along Ave 1 just before the dam may have to go if so.

Hi mr antidennislance, this is good move. Don't think will affect sbs 85. Basically serve different crowds of people. For sbs 85, the main crowd going yishun are from sengkang east and sengkang west area. Cheers.

I don't think that the loads of 85 will drop a lot as only a handful of bus stops are duplicated with the new route.
I would think that 854 will be affected more as this extended 103 will provide a direct link from Yishun to Serangoon North industrial estate, Buangkok areas, and Greenwich V.
Mainly because it will be faster than 854 which plies along Lentor Ave which is a heavily utilised road, and will provide a service to the above mentioned places for Yishun East residents, without the need to go to Yishun Interchange.
As for 85, I think it may be diverted to Sengkang West Road in future.

Yes I agree too.
It now also batters down the argument for DD / more Artics on 854.
It will also relieve some load for 804/806. Folks near/along Ave 11 going to Yishun MRT may want to take 103 instead of 806 as the 103 stop on ave 2 on the same side of the road as the MRT station nearest the station will require a shorter walk than from YTBI with 806.

I believe 854 still have high demands despite some loads taken away from the extended 103. Primarily from Yishun to Ang Mo Kio north industrial estate, and from Hougang to Bedok.
However I think that in the long term, LTA is removing the use of bendy buses in Yishun estate in future.
While Yishun East is going to be more developed in future, there will be more new bus services introduced to serve there.
Recommended possibilities,
- More feeders for Yishun East
- A trunk service to link Yishun East and West, like 860.
- Extension of services like 85, 852 to Yishun East to cope with The demands and provide new links.
- Possibly of a bus terminal in Khatib for Yishun East and South.

Yes 854 will still see good loading, the Jln Eunos <-> Hougang stretch is still very much relevant. As is the AMK/YCK industrial area.
Bendies probably only for feeders, if at all.
There's already speculations about a 807, though I have no idea if that is substantial.
Extension of 85 would be a good idea. Or 39/965 to go thru Ave 1 / Seletar West Link from Yishun East instead of hitting Lentor/TPE directly. Perhaps 965 can even go through Seletar North Link to hit Punggol directly without even hitting TPE and ending directly at Sengkang across the bridge,
heard in Q3 2015, new bus service from Hougang to West Camp Road. Lets leave it at speculation stage.

Please take note that svc 103 does not pass through Yishun Ave 8.

it does not. the new pair of stops is Yishun Ave 1, it calls there before turning left to continue onto Yishun Ave 1. The Yishun Ave 8 stops are for future uses
now i wonder why service 103 is routed this way when it could ply Yishun Ave 8, before plying Ave 6 then continue with original Ave 11

well, yishun ave 8 is going to end up till junction of admiralty rd east there, passing through future canberra estate (source: HDB BTO May 2015 sales, under sembawang & streetdirectory.com)
hmm, is that a big sign for new services to link up sembawang with Seletar aerospace park? lol

It does call at one small portion of Yishun Ave 8 (refer to the map below; Yishun Ave 8 and its junctions, one of which 103 plies is highlighted in grey):

There's not much developments along Yishun Ave 8...think the next three to four years will be the main focus of developments and maybe 103 will be amended to ply Yishun Aves 6 and 8 by then.

the grey portion 103 plies renamed to Yishun Ave 1, also reflected on poster of SV 103 as former Yishun Ave 1 curve abolished
