i don't think the bus route is that long. a few KM there and here. it about serving the people in the new town where leak of service some part of the area where is demand. people no need to change service also at the same time help out another service 139. 163 can skip the toa payoh interchange like 57 after contiune the old route to seng keng interchange from there out the interchange follow service 50 to punggol. this way the sengkang interchage should have some space for one new service. if u say the route is long how about service 88?

16 is currently the only link from Orchard to Tiong Bahru (thanks to the withdrawal of the old 85), which is heavily utilized and not fully complemented by 14. You may say there's also 175 but it doesn't directly serve Tiong Bahru.
We Singaporeans should be thankful that almost every part of Singapore is well connected with bus and rail system, yet we still unhappy and not grateful want this and that..Hais

Hi mr wsy1234, introduce new service to connect sengkang to other towns. Do not leverage on sbs 163. There is no need to save space at sengkang interchange because there are still enough slots and bus berths. Sengkang west way is top priority to introduce new bus services. What commuters want is a semi quick route to other towns. Cheers.

Sure.. but still don't need DDs for Orchard to Tiong Bahru... Ride it you will know.. Otherwise you know I am in favor of DDs for most services... LOL

Lets hope 103 can get few DDs... but already packed from Jalan Kayu to YCK road... will be interesting to see how it copes with the route extension unlike they spam a lot of Citaros (which I think will be the case)

Actually... there is scope to introduce one more trunk service... like sv 164
My suggestion:
Punggol Interchange >> Punggol Central >> Punggol West >> Punggol Field >> Punggol Road >> Sengkang East Way >> Sengkang West Way >> Jalan Kayu >> YCK Road >> CTE >> AMK Ave 3 >> AMK Ave 6 >> AMK Ave 1 >> Bishan Road >> Bradell Road >> CTE >> Balestier Road >> Jalan Rajah >> St Michael's Terminal
** Provides MRT connection to Sengkang East/West Way & HDBs close to Jalan Kayu
** Provides rapid connection to AMK MRT via CTE for Punggol and Sengkang residents
** Connects AMK Ave 1 to Bishan MRT (CCL) and provides alternative connection to Bradell bus park industrial area apart from sv 13
** Connects Whompoa/Jalan Bahagia area to north via rapid connection through CTE
** Routed to terminate at St Michael's via Jalan Rajah so that it covers maximum part of Balestier Road
Confirmed: 103 is not getting DDs on 14 June 2015.

I was quite sure it wouldn't (just looking at the BSEP registrations for the month).
Actually was kind of confirmed, seeing how hard it is to turn from Piccadilly to Oxford St
According to SBST EET:
WEF 14 June 2015, Service 103
- add 6 buses
- 3 NWAB slots retained, may not have NWAB performing on that slot
- runtime about 55-60 min
- 8 BSEP buses in fleet (2 perm currently, 6 new)
- All NWABs serve PM shift only
- 9 to 15 min frequency, improved from current frequency
Do take this info with a pinch of salt.
Extended 103 WILL RECEIVE DDs
Originally posted by SMB128B:Hopefully SBST could either shift it back under Merdeka Bridge, or deploy a few DDs since the load could be pretty heavy during peak.
sv16 will remain SD fleet for now. The current scheduled fleet is able to take in the crowd.
Loading wise, its from Joo Chiat/Dunman Rd to Dakota stn.
Evening peak vice versa...
Crowd from Orchard can be picked by 2 SDs at 8mins interval, no worries abt tt, those heading to M Parade take the improved freq 36 or 36B. Besides there is still train svc fr DBG to Dakota n sv14 for tfrs...
Underpass below Merdeka Bridge has been refurbished to accept 4.5m height

It might not be BSEPs DDs deployed, there are other DDs in HG...

Should b retained, you cant juz waste them in a corner n wait to b de-registered, still workhorses imo but you can never second guess SBST.
But if dun wan, transfer to BB, give all to 16, i dun mind, enjoying the DM3500s very very much
Originally posted by carbikebus:Merdeka bridge now 4.5m?Which other bus svc ply there?
Underpass where 16, 608 used to ply, YES
No bus svc use tt underpass as of now
Sports Hub has a pair of stops outside Aquatic centre
Weekend, PH mornings 103 is full with workers due to frequency...

One of my other bus enthu friend Mr Lee said: "103 didnt get DDs because all BCs driving 103 must have a DD license, unfortunately one of his bc friends from 103 did not got it yet..."
Then another bus enthu Mr Low said: "All BC learn and pass already
Only she haven pass her DD license
She wan drive scania
Her partner wan citaro dunwan scania
Everyday her partner will come and ask uncle change bus & slot if its a scania..."
