I like the fact that it does not enter interchange... it would just be time consuming... there is always a long queue to enter interchange in PM... and ppl alighting... then might have to queue at berth until bus ahead takes pax and goes... this whole thing can really screw up the frequency..

Hi mr TIB429E, noted. Go inside interchange also not too bad an idea. Anyway the objective is to lure some people away from mrt and feed some people to this smrt 990 to have a direct journey home for those staying along its route. In this case, these people do not need go to bukit batok mrt. Cheers.
Great, now 188 and 189 finally meet at a single bus stop (along AYE) after so many near misses.
Service 990 ... still seems a little weird with the numbering, especially where the route meets 98 and 99 at Boon Lay Way. Hauntingly reminiscent of the old 989. (Hopefully they won't copy the BB scheme over to 995 or 999.) Routewise it could have been routed to BB East Ave 2/4 though, those places would benefit from the extra link. Nonetheless.

I think routwise coule have been routed via Jurong East st 21... but guess this road is not suitable for buses.. hence, all do Toh Guan road.
I am happy it does Jurong East ave 6... the houses there desperately needed a service... Also to think of it... the industrial area gets connection to Jurong East (though at some walking distance)...
I don't expect heavy loading for this service though... should be just about okay.
189 now stops Opp Nan Hua High School, they shiok already...last time students there used to have to walk up to Clementi Road to take 96 or 183 to Clementi...

The amendment to 189 is very good... can already see Clementi ave 1 residents hugely benefiting from this service now to get to MRT... Hopefully 189 will get DDs soon.

agreed totally! one service would have to go in to serve the residents there but i didnt imagine it to be 189...hahah!

Hi mr busanalyser, it is bukit batok east ave 6, not jurong east ave 6. Cheers.

Exactly my thoughts...
...
17A & 43M cant be avoided cause its just a complimentary svc,But frankly good enough cause they operate full day..Dont mind even its 9-22 mins
Suprise is 201 & 990
I guessed by now we can say good bye to long haul service?

Seems like it, unless you count city direct svcs which only operate during peak hours. With new bus terminal at changi biz park next yr, I'm hoping there may be a bus svc connecting changi biz park and/or upp changi industrial areas to sengkang/punggol via TPE.
990: Reminds me of 116 by connecting 2 towns, but hopefully will be more successful. Good links between Toh guan and BB Int/MRT, and between BB East Ave 6 and JE MRT.
43M, 17A: continuing the trend of these M svcs/ full day shortworking trips. Would have expected 17A to be renumbered to 17M, but maybe this is to avoid confusion since it's an existing SWT.
201, 189: Surprised to see LTA splitting up 189, especially since it's not a very long route. Good move nonetheless, since most ppl don't travel between west coast and bt batok. I like the use of AYE to connect Penjuru Rd/ Pandan Gdns/ Teban Gdns to Clementi MRT (201) and to connect Clementi Ave 1 to Clementi MRT (189).
Actually LTA announced 5 bus svcs in bt batok, jurong east, west coast, kallang and changi, but there's 1 svc for west coast (201) and 1 svc for both bt batok and jurong east (990), so does that mean there could be another bus svc for one of these areas?
Clementi Ave 1 finali ve a service for students, long wait...
Now hope Haig Rd have their own dedicated svc to MRT stns...
17A is rehash of 227
43M is an extended version of the 'buangkok mrt to buangkok link' route...
This way to IMH take bus ervice no. 43M
How does 43M loop at Serangoon Central?

17A was not renumbered, because, it can terminate at Bedok North depot..

Just the opp of sv 116.

From the outline it is a signboard...most likely is during NEL disruption where it is placed either at Serangoon or Buangkok MRT Station.

Yes bro.. realized that now for few months.. no long haul as of now.. though we can continue to express need of long haul services.

Should be okay.. most travellers for West Coast between WC and Clementi... taken care of by 201...
I like the change.
43M frequency 7mins during peak.. 20 mins off peak... completely okay.. parent route 43 still there... let's not forget.
