should swap 851 and 980 around. 980 cannot get DD due to Lor 1 Bus Terminal, while 851 needs some Rigids to DD upgrade. 169 could be AMDEP/WLBP instead of just WLDEP/WLBP.
but AMDEP is too packed.
Yeah. I dunno why 980 was never in line for high capacity buses... Demand pretty high but has always only gotten weekend bendys. Probably cos SMRT not enough bendys to go around (Same like 857). DDs to 851 and Bendy to 980 is a good idea. 854 could also take in some DDs

A24s for 980.
Maybe when more A24s comes, 980 can have daily bendies.

But that's the case with so many SMRT services. Had they been with SBST, for sure you would have had a lot of DDs plying all these services.
High loading route like 851 constantly downgraded and has only 7 HC buses.
187 only 4. 172 should have 4 but on many days only 2. 189 needs more. 854 needs more. 167/980 each should have got some DDs at least. Most of feeders/intra-towns should be like sv 334 - full fleet bendy. 857/985 so full and such long distance, but 857 only got DD now. 985 god only knows when. 945 feeder always packed to door to MRT in AM. Yet no bendies. 941 also would do good with bendies but only rigids ply. Many times people cannot board first bus and have to wait for bus behind. The list is never ending.
Actually SBST also only got mass upgradings to DDs in the recent years, when they mass purchased the WEGs. Even 3 years ago, alot of of SBST feeders and those trunks (eg. 101, 130, 139) didnt have so many DDs. SMRT was lagging behind cos they no DDs and LTA had probably capped the number of bendys on the roads. But now they buy DDs liao, Im sure it will improve but there is transition time, which is now. SMRT already has more high cap buses now and services like 965, 966, 857, which had no high cap buses have DDs now. Also services like 67, 960, 963, 188, 190 have improved drastically in recent days. Just be patient.
For 985, Im guessing this route is not DD-friendly. So can use bendy lor. The route is definitely bendy friendly cos bendy has cameo-ed before. 941 and 945 I hope will get bendys when SMRT has sufficient units to deploy

Actually they should start deploying 2 A24s from AMDEP to 980..but they rather dump it on 806/804..
The problem lies at Geylang where the old tree branches need a good pruning..
But dunno why they reluctant to do it like very sacred..If not you will see Wlbp deploy DD for 980,Budep deploy DD for 985.For now 980 need 2 BSEP buses for a start,1 full and 1 split shift
Tibs is a small company as compared to SBS which was a merger of 3 companies. the bus ratio of SMRT to SBST is about 1:3. also the depots of SMRT is much smaller than SBST

SMRT lacks space and two depot nearing its lease expiry. the cap on bendies is likely to be temp. the future 3 depots, namely Sungei Seletar, Ulu Pandan and Mandai provides 12m and 18m lots.

806 no new A24s
804 has 2, 8002C and 8004Y. however, it is AMDEP/YIBP 804/806.
980 cannot have DDs. not enough A24s so throw some O405Gs and couple of A22s
980 just need weekends/PHs high capacity buses,Weekdays just add 2 more bsep buses for both side

I think those current depot will go for good..LTA intend to replace all those depot/bus park with standard 500-550 capacity near isolated places..
Its already a hint..Updep replace Ayer Rajah and part of Slbp,Most probably there is another West side depot replacing Slbp for Boon Lay,Joo Koon and Tuas svc.
There might be a new depot along Commonwealth or Pasir Panjang depot for Bt Merah/Hbf/Cbd svc in future..Mddep might be for Wldep..Dairy Farm looks good for a new depot for Bpj and Cck.Cgdep replace Bndep/Cgbp,Ssdep might replace Smrt Amdep.Upp Thomson might have a new depot also.

UPDEP may not completely replace ARBP but Lavender Street and Kallang Bahru Open space could not only house a depot but also a terminal.

recent pruning done to henderson road and newton area. both got high load services like 145/176 and 66/67/960. no think lta feel 980/985 that high load for tree pruning.
just noticed that the rear brake lights on the A24 is like the citaros.. the rear top red lights also gets activated together with all the brake lights..

Our DDs should have these features too for safety reasons

Lavender coach terminal can do with a bus park but again need to think about the congestion it will cause around the areas..Maybe somewhere near Pasir Panjang will suppliment Updep..

why u keep saying that Geylang Ter have problem with the trees? did u really go down to see? from what i see, there is no issue with the trees... last time service 70 also terminate there....
the last geylang terminal had a DD bus service was number 5. and also 21 and 31 turn to the bus lane road next to the terminal where got tree problem? humm 985 some route is the same as the old number 5 route.

I used to park a 12m single decker at one area where the low hanging branches is just slightly above the roof top which i know DDs cant pass the parking areas..Not much an issue if NEA just prune all the low lying branches near the ONP areas..Of course the normal bus park and the bus stop area is passable to DDs
is that why 62 loops instead of terminating at Geylang Fringe? Because of the low branches.

Labrador Park? Haw Par Villa?

Yeah true.. Actually the SMRT enviros shld also have the brake lights installed at the empty gap beside the additional signal lights at the top rear..weird they didnt install them on their DDs when their newer SDs and bendies have the 3rd brake light installed..

Based on what carbikebus said, I think problem is with the section within the carpark. I don't think they would put a double decker even on 980 because based on observation, the buses use that route through the carpark back to their depots.
When 70 terminated at Geylang, Geylang Lor 1 was still one directional. You could travel straight from Geylang Lor 1 southbound to Mountbatten Rd, but you can't do so in the other direction. This was the reason why 21, 26 and 149 (this section became part of 31) u-turned at Kallang Rd after the terminal. I would expect that 11 and 70 had done the same, meaning, followed the current 980 route out, then u-turned, then turned right from Sims Ave to Geylang Lor 1 and went straight to Mountbatten Rd. The u-turn along Kallang Rd was wide enough that Superbuses used them.
I don't think any buses exited through the exit which 11, 175, 853, 961 and 985 currently use, maybe except the SSB buses leaving the depot. Anyway that turn tooks tight for a bus to a turn out to Mountbatten Rd, its a very tight u-turn, with high volumes of traffic. The SSB buses could use that exit as they were parked at the northern part of the plot of land, instead of the carpark which 11, 175, 853, 961 and 985 currently use, which is the southern part of the plot of land.
Thanks for e enlightment bro...At least you understand.
8004Y on Sv 804 again today.
8005U parked in Yishun Int for idk which svc. I think 804 or 806 bah.
Those 4 MAN Bendies in AMDEP are always stuck at Yishun since they came out. Except for the day which I saw one of them do Sv 969, I think the other svcs they've done are like..804 and 806?
