Since previously in the past, they copy-cat each other's move for the CGA services. (bring back the times when SBST first deployed KUBs for CGA, SMRT went tit-for-tat and dumped the OC500LEs on 858 when they didn't buy alot of OC500s in the first place..)
Because, imo, if SBST wanted to deploy Bendies for CGA services, wouldn't they have tried to do so in the 998Y 999U era already~ Unless they didn't think of that move until now.
But oh well, maybe if the CGA services ended up into the control of another operator (other than SBST & SMRT), we might see some changes. or LTA sponsor again lo, haha.
During that era.. also depends whether the loading of those services justified... even today SDs can do good job for CGA.. most leave CGA with few seats to spare... it is along the route that the loading steps up.
27 is Tampines to Sengkang, 34 is Tampines to Punggol, 36 is Marine Parade to Suntec, 53 is Pasir Ris to Serangoon..
If supplementary routes were introduced for these services, already issue can be resolved... which in itself is done well by SWTs and downroutes just that SBST has refused to use DDs for the SWTs for some reason.

53 also has very high loading at CGA and buses are quite packed. 34 loading can also be extremely high and form long queues at CGA due to its terrible frequency.
There is a need for CGA bus terminals to be relocated at ground level with a feeder doing the intra terminal at the basement. The Terminal itself has to be centralise for staff to access easily to T1,T2 & T3.Most of the staff entrance/Exit is at ground level..

This should happen when jewel finishes in 2018

Untrue.
2 in 5 svc 34 skips stops outside SATS kitchen, packed to door during PM peak, leaving a huge bulk of transfer pax stranded for another bus with uncertain arrival times (happens to all CGA routes due to long routing)
While only 3-7 pax could board any 53/858 that happens to stop by, out of the usual dozen over.
Even after 8pm, most buses are still fully seated and half-filled with standees, not leaving with seats to spare.
Fleet add doesnt help much either. Often they just bunch up, and the same shit happens again.
If bendies ARE able to enter the terminal without causing too much delay, I hope they be used at least for the next few years, until jewel finishes and hopefully we can see DDs into CGA.
I know this as i always change between 858 and 24 there.
So when is 858 going to deploy bendy?

Fleet add isn't gonna help much unless those expressway(especially TPE) have a bus lane..
iirc Jewels do not have plans for bus interchange/terminal...
a24s yet again training on 911's route

sigh.. hope for good news soon.. been suffering for the crowds even till late :(

so getting bendy. 858 needy for it.
If 858 getting bendy then there is no need for 32 buses. Can replace 6 SDs with 4 bendy
SMRT most likely will not use M but maybe 858B
858 A24 test should be failed? Heard there's fleet add of 5 buses to it ytd..all APs..
Saw 8018 along Marsiling this afternoon.

that would be sad :(
I might think the test failed again,Not many BCs can manoveure well through tight turns at the basement..Rather than taking the chances,SMRT added more buses.
Seriously LTA should introduce 858B from Yishun MRT to Airport to supplement 858 from 0600-0830 & 1600-1930 everyday

u mean like bus 53M style? actually i would prefer this way, at least another alternative, best if the ops is full day..

Quite dissapointed when SMRT add 5 more buses when they can use bendy buses instead..
