Hi mr carbikebus, shorten or amend TRUNK services I believe they will do so. Withdraw? I need see in reality before I believe! Cheers. Thanks.

It is also justified... if you just see how empty buses run in the Bukit Timah stretch... 67 in opposite direction from CCK to Little India usually has between 10-20 pax per bus... Likewise for other services such as 66, 170, 171 plying the stretch. Overall loading on 154, 157, 174, 961 etc. have also slipped in this stretch. If you purely look at loading, there is a strong justification to have some duplicating routes rationalized.
I have someone working for me who used to take 48 to Farrer Road from Bugis. Now prefers to take DTL to Botanic Garden and switch to CCL as she is fed up with the traffic snarl at Newton Junction. She prefers to change than take a direct bus. Many such cases.

Hi mr p228, 302 will not be affected as it is not part of downtown line bus service. Yew tee people generally rely on 302 and 979. Not everybody thinks that the area shall be served by only 1 service. Cheers. Thanks.

Thanks. Some people should think properly before spouting rubbish. They give so many rubbish suggestions until the authority don't take us seriously.

Hi mr sbs6750E, basically you have answered yourself! 275, 408, 409 are not TRUNK services. My message refers to whether LTA got guts to withdraw TRUNK services or not. Cheers. Thanks.

Exactly.. Even without loading observations still can judge that demand is so high that 302A still needed alongside 302 979..Originally posted by dupdup77:Hi mr p228, 302 will not be affected as it is not part of downtown line bus service. There was no rationalisation for CCL. Doubt there will be major changes due to DTL.
Maybe it was a good thing there were no bus route cuts due to CCL given its recent problems.

Hi mr SMB5007J, relax. Nobody is cutting 302. 302 is to yew tee what 83 is to Punggol. 100% confirmed will not get chopped. Cheers. Thanks.

Beyond that there are almost no takers between BPJ town and Bukit Timah road. Hence, logical looping point should be Beauty World.
There's also 75 and 184 from Bt Panjang to Upp Bt Timah via Cashew Rd, although they do not cover the sector along Upp Bt Timah btw BPJ and Cashew, which is served by 963. Overall, I think it's ok to shorten 171 to Bt Panjang, unless it's extended somewhere else to cover deleted sectors of other routes, or as a route 'enhancement'.
As for withdrawing svc 700, parts of the route can be merged with 972, as follows:
Bt Panjang - Senja/Segar/Fajar - Pending Rd - Petir Rd - BKE/PIE - Whitley/Stevens/Scotts Rd - Orchard Rd - Shenton Way on weekdays, Suntec on weekends (similar to current 700/A)
The direct connection between Petir Rd and Bt Panjang would still need replacement, which can be covered by amending or extending existing svcs. Options include:
- amending 75 or 184 to ply Petir Rd/Dairy Farm Rd instead of Cashew Rd/Upp Bt Timah Rd (one less bus svc for Cashew Rd)
- amending 960 or 190 to ply Petir Rd instead of entering BKE directly at Bt Panjang Rd (already high loading svcs, lost connection to Bt Panjang Rd stop, although the 972 amendment above has the same issue)
- amending 961 to Bt Panjang Rd - Petir Rd - BKE/PIE express - Eng Neo Ave - Bt Timah (lost sector along Upp Bt Timah, but faster journey for long distance travellers)
- extending 180 or 983 into Bt Panjang, loop at Petir Rd, or loop around Chestnut Dr/Dairy Farm private estate (may not have demand for the latter)

It's not ok to terminate 171 at BPJ. Minimally it should go all the way till Old Jurong Road where 852 turns off. Otherwise travellers from Yishun will lose the connection to places like Assumption Pathway/English, Mindef, Hillview Camp / Gombak.

was the original plan but wasnt feasible due to lost transfer link at blk 223

Terminating at BPJ would cause more inconvenience as there are many who take 171 from Yishun to Upper Bukit Timah road/Hillview. I think it is okay to extend till Beauty World and make to loop there.
I like your suggestion to have 75 amended via Dairy Farm road, Petir Road towards BPJ as there is 184 too in parallel till Ullu Pandan junction. Just that this would remove the link between Cashew and Petir (2 stops) and not sure how many take between these two.

If 171 is removed from Bukit Timah road, you need 700 to connect Dunearn road condos to Orchard road. Anyway, 700 gets quite a good loading even today from the condos between Stevens and Newton MRT towards Scotts/Orchard.
I would have liked 700 to extend to CCK via Keat Hong estate to provide direct Orchard connection between Keat Hong and Orchard. If 190/972 have been so popular as direct services inspite of DTL/NSL, I am sure extended 700 would be very popular as well.
700 can be shortened to Marina Center Terminal instead of Shenton Way, replacing 171 there.

970 should be okay IMO. 176 better not touch since high loading service.

It will be a great idea. 700 extend to CCK via Keat Hong BTOs..
But looking at the space of CCK interchange..
I don't think it will happen.
especially during peak hour..the traffic could build up all the way till the cross junction of Ave 4 and CCK Loop.
I really think Yew Tee need a road side bus terminal to complement CCK int..
CCK Drive end will be a good spot for a road side bus terminal.
979 can terminate there skipping cck cresent. 302 already cover cck cresent.

Hi mr Ajen, any alternative if 979 skip cck crescent? Then which service will be introduced to cover cck cresecent to Bukit panjang DTL mrt? If no services, then 979 cannot skip cck crescent. Cheers. Thanks.

Merge 700 with 983. Simple as that.
Eventually we will have 983 (CCK-Shenton Way day service), 983A (CCK-BPJ after-hours and weekend loop service) and 700 (BPJ-Suntec City after hours and weekend service).

302 is a feeder route while 83 is inter-town. If anything 83 is like 859.
