However I doubt they will introduce a NEW service to cover the trimmed sectors. Cheers. Thanks.
Huh??
LTA has introduced these kind of routes before what
Otherwise what do you call 117, 118?

Hi mr SMB128B, yes LTA did introduce 117 and 118. However they did not do so to cover any existing routes which are trimmed at that time.
The above message was referring to a suggestion to trim of service 88 to AMK but with a new service to cover the trimmed portion.
Anyway, just leave service 88 untouched as it best serves commuters' needs. Today is weekend so please don't start a war of words against me. Cheers. Thanks.

So it seems that the BPJ service amendments would not be announced by the end of the year ... but rather only until the opening of the ITH sometime around 2017 Q2.
=====================================
Expected route changes (in descending order of probability):
- (1) Opening of BPJ ITH and rerouting of services 75, 176, 184, 920, 922, 970, 972, 975 and 979/M and some among 177, 180, 971E and 983 (unconfirmed) to terminate there. There is estimated space for twelve services altogether. Unknown if the bus park would still be operational.
- (2) Introduction of new service (973?) from BPJ ITH to pass Petir Rd / Dairy Farm Rd & loop at Hume Ave (or even beyond)
- (3) Truncation of service 171, at either BPJ (of which it may end up in the ITH), Jln Anak Bukit (of which there could be a likely chance of a future merge with 41), or reroute to some other location (such as via 176's route to BB, or even a merge with 308 to CCK, etc.)
- (4) (Along with 5 & 6) Withdrawal of service 700
- (5) (Along with 4 & 6) Extension of service 972 to Shenton Way terminal, and introduction of route variant 972A to loop at Suntec City. Also renumbering of 971E to 972E.
- (6) (Along with 4 & 5) Modification of either services 190 or 972 (or one each) along two sectors: Petir Rd & Dairy Farm Rd (instead of BPJ Rd Blk 270), and Dunearn / Bt Timah Rd & Scotts Rd (instead of Stevens Rd) to cover the lost sectors of truncated 171 and withdrawn 700. (Mostly only RGS students would be affected, but RGS would be moving to Bishan in 2019.)
- (7) Modification or truncation of any of the routes 178, 960 and 961 along Woodlands Rd.
- (8) Introduction of new semi-express service from BPJ ITH (via BKE & either SLE / PIE) to central and/or northeast area towns.

Im not sure for the 3rd or 4th option, but for option 1, you think 979M would be withdrawn by then?

Take one away and give to the other. Or they can operate jointly for a while. Transperth does that too.

Doubt LTA will allow it..Previously when LTA offer GA 15 units of A95(Batch 2),GA technical manager rejected also they can't do anything..Hope this time,LTA will force them to take at least the 15 E500
They are regret to take the 33xx series from Bulim which cost more $$$$$ to overhaul instead and until now 3300,3301,3302,3305,3307,3309 and 3310 is the most problematic B9TL in their fleet.

Personally I think having these changes altogether would be too complicated.
171 seems okay to cover 176's section at Hillview, but it should not replace 176 totally as there is a sizeable demand from Hillview to locations beyond BB central.
172's extension does not make sense due to loading imbalance between current 172 and 178. The longer route would also cause serious delays and possibly bunching.
Likewise for 852 which is a backup service and has lower than average loading all round. In fact the CCK portion can be given to 61 in the future if (ever) 61 is split in the CBD.
Also no consensus yet for 178 route to be withdrawn without replacement at the moment.

Your suggestions are extremely disruptive to existing commuters.
171 issue can be resolved just by itself by terminating it at BPJ Interchange, max make it loop at Jalan Anak Bukit
178 issue can also be resolved by just making it a BBT -> WDL service. BBT->JE is served by svc 66, JE -> Taman Jurong served by 49 and need some tweaking around Taman Jurong to cover for Corporation Road -> Boon Lay.

Not easy. Both 190 and 972 are running at 03-04 min frequency with high capacity buses and high loading. Making changes to these services could inconvenience lot of people.
Moreover, 972 needs to stop at Bukit Panjang road stop before BKE. At least 15-20 pax from Ring road transfer here for other services. Diverting via Pending/Petir will cause them inconvenience.
