Don't bother, friend. He just simply throws random start and end points and calls it a service. Boon Lay to Sengkang? Stupidly long but that was his idea.
Also for anyone around, in light of DTL stage 2 rationalisation, feedback on my suggested service 976 would be appreciated, thanks!

I like how the route connects the different towns / regions, but it would be a hassle to travel the entire length or just part of it, with these many stops. Perhaps you could introduce an express variant?
The Bt Panjang - Mandai sector does connect Mandai to DTL, but it makes 927 redundant, and there is demand from camp go-ers during peak time.
I was pondering if the YCK stretch from Upp Thomson to Jln Kayu could be made express along SLE to hasten the inter-region travel. Though I'm not sure of the loading along YCK Rd, and if that makes the route serving this sector necessary (there's already 86 and 163 to Sengkang, though none to Nee Soon).
Not sure about the Sengkang and Punggol stretch. Admittedly Sengkang West / East Way could use a more direct link to Punggol, aside from 50 / 85. You may want to ask the northeast residents in the forum on this.

Hi, thanks :)
Still thinking of a way to tweak the BPJ - Mandai sector, I'm not the most familiar with that sector so I'm not too sure about what exactly to change yet. What I'm thinking is that 976 plies the full length during peak hours while 976 becomes Express along that stretch during non-peak. Of course, this might not be the most feasible.
YCK stretch from Upp Thomson to Jln Kayu IMO shouldn't be made express along SLE, because the lack of coverage from any of the nearby services for the exact stretch between Nee Soon / Springleaf to Castle Green / YCK has no direct connection. Reasonable loading on 138 for that exact stretch but 138 funnels the loading back to AMK which is an indirect route to nearest station. Bus jumping occurs quite frequently because of 138 turning into AMK when pax want to continue down YCK road.
976 can also serve AMK Industrial area - providing additional capacity for AMK Industrial - Jln Kayu stretch alongside 86 and 163. Generally fairly heavy loading around this sector during peak hours, with lunchtime traffic going in the other direction.

Hmm. My point above on too many stops still stand though. Your route would also render 138 after YCK Rd somewhat redundant ^_~
For me, I would probably make use of a nearby Yishun service to serve this stretch of YCK Rd to complement 70, 86, 163, then make 976 run express.
One possibility would be extending 859 via Yishun Ave 1, Sembawang Rd, Upp Thomson Rd, YCK Rd, then end at perhaps Sengkang or Pasir Ris, also serves the purpose of providing link to Sembawang, and freeing up space at Yishun Int. 854 and 857 would have been better candidates to divert via Springleaf, but it's better to leave them be for now.

This makes a lot of sense, thanks!
I'm thinking 976 becomes BPJ, Mandai, express before and after the Zoo, covering Springleaf and Nee Soon and YCK up till the junction at YCK Station, then going express until the bus stop just before the CTE to provide possible transfers to 857, then express again until Jln Kayu, then following the original route to Punggol.
859 extension to Sengkang would make sense although that'll be pending the Sengkang expansion.
As such, here goes:

For LTA's suggestion:

Service 152:

Angry at LTA for shortening Service 81, 82, 97, 106, 111 and 502.
Extension of Service 81, 82, 97, 106, 111 and 502 to current routes in 17 June 2003
Reasons:
No connection to Sengkang when Service 502 was cut short.
So, this is a suggestion to LTA to extend Service 81, 82, 97, 106, 111 and 502 to routes in 17 June 2003 and see how they react

Hi mr pathlight, LTA will not consider such super long routes from west to northeast. Nowadays all new routes are quite short already. For those you mention, you can take MRT. Cheers.

I was thinking the other way actually ... of 976 skipping Woodlands Rd (seeing as there's 160/170/178/960/961) and go straight to Mandai Rd, serving a number of the important stops (i.e. some of the camps/landmarks) before Mandai Lake Rd, and at least the one pair after that for transfer to 138. That'd provide the link to BPJ while not compromising 927. I shall trust you on the important YCK stops because I don't know the loading well there. Alas.
As for 859 ... doing two loops in Sembawang just seemed excessive, I'd narrow it down to just one at Admiralty Dr / Sembawang Cres / Sembawang Ave before proceeding on to Yishun. 859A/B can well become a standalone feeder, and links to Yishun near Canberra Rd are still provided by 856. (Or otherwise, an off-peak 981 via Admiralty Link.)
