Don't bother replying to Path Light, he's just messing around with your head. Read through pages 23 to 32 of this thread, and you'll know what I'm talking about. Cheers.

It's been a long time i have been back to the forum..My very last post before yesterday's is in Route Suggestion Part 5. I will slowly backtrack and see :)
The construction of the Cross Island Line will be scrapped as 84 more new services are launched between 2018 and 2029

I would like to inform you that in any amendment made to any route, there will be people who would gain, while some skeptically affected. It is therefore necessary that the repercussion on patrons are gingerly appraised in advance of any amendment we may hereafter carry out.
I have delved into your feedback to alter service 502 and introduce services 501 and 505.
From my findings, it would appear that a consequential faction of existing patrons will be adversely affected if we change the route of service 502. They would lose their direct link between Jurong and the Central Business District, where the Orchard Road and the Marina Bay are located.
I have seen the route of service 501 which you had proposed. While I acknowledge that this duplicates the route of existing service 502 between Jurong and the Central Business District, I am sorry to inform you that this is not a better alternative to how the existing route of service 502 is designed.
The existing route of service 502 is economical, considering it takes the shortest possible alignment to navigate to and from the two areas it serve. Should we apply the route of service 501 you had advised, additional mileage would be incurred and fares may have to increase to correspond with the rise in costs of operations as a result.
With regards to the idea of introducing service 505 between Jurong East and Seng Kang, I wish to inform you that it is not financially practical to run this service, as my observations have shown that very little people travel between these two places at any period of the day.
Bearing in mind of the above, I am sorry to inform you that I am not able to acquiesce your requests. In spite of that, every suggestion is important. Do rest assured that all of us here have noted your suggestions and will allow for them when we want to suggest express bus routes.
Thank you for writing in.
For your information, my new extension of Service 502 which is after reaching Orchard Road, turn left to Prinsep Street (Which follows Service 147's route until Upper Serangoon Road), turn left to Yio Chu Kang Link (Until reaching Yio Chu Kang Road then turn right to Sengkang West Road), Sengkang West Avenue, Jalan Kayu, Sengkang West Way, Sengkang East Way, Sengkang East Road and Sengkang Square. It would look different from Service 502's route in January 2003
Originally posted by AJQZC:No! If that were the case, Yew Tee residents would have to travel through all of CCK and compete with Ave 5 residents for the DTL. Not acceptable.
For the shuttle to be efficient, it MUST NOT pass through CCK central. That leaves KJE / Stagmont Ring --> Woodlands Rd. Thus you need a standalone service from Bt Panjang Bus Park, or an extended one from Bt Batok.
Sadly, you cannot turn from Stagmont Ring to Woodlands Rd towards Bukit Panjang. At least before construction starts. So yeah, only KJE.

Second Version: Skip C'wealth Ave West & Clementi Ave 3. Terminates at Kent Ridge Terminal.
There are enough buses covering Clementi - West Coast, Jurong East - West Coast and Clementi - Jurong East ... so unless there's sufficient demand between Yew Tee and Clementi / West Coast, there's not quite a need for the Jurong East - Clementi section.
Also consider that 160, 176 and 184 are quite easily available near Bt Panjang MRT Station.
825 extend to Amdep.Free up space for new service at YCK.
171 shortened to BBT.New service from BPJ to Marina Centre.
New service from Woodlands Int to Seletar Aerospace Park.
New service from Sembawang to Sungei Kadut.

No! Service 171 goes from Yishun to Marina Centre. There is no way it will be shortened!
Service 502:
Boon Lay > Sengkang
Jurong West Central 3, Jalan Boon Lay, Boon Lay Avenue, Corporation Road, Jurong West Avenue 1, Jurong East Avenue 1, Jurong Town Hall Road, Pan Island Expressway, Thomson Road, Newton Road, Scotts Road, Orchard Road, Prinsep Street, Selegie Road, Serangoon Road, Upper Serangoon Road, Boundary Road, Yio Chu Kang Link, Yio Chu Kang Road, Sengkang West Road, Sengkang West Avenue, Jalan Kayu, Sengkang West Way, Sengkang East Way, Sengkang East Road and Sengkang Square

- Jln Kayu
- TPE
- Seletar West Link (express)

May be somewhat redundant for those travelling between Woodlands / Yishun / Sengkang, but allows more connectivity to outlying areas (Yishun St 41, Springside, Mandai reservoir) from Khatib station, improving it as a transfer point.
Something like this? Minus the Hougang - TPE sector, then extend to Seletar Aerospace Park?

good job for 171. No point for a duplicative svc where there is a faster option between Yishun and the city (857)
Originally posted by SBS2652G:good job for 171. No point for a duplicative svc where there is a faster option between Yishun and the city (857)
Consider the high duplicity of the other section (973) with 67 and 170 ... direct link from eastern Bt Panjang to Dunearn Rd is also lost.
Diverting 171 to Yew Tee is a very risky move as well, as longer routes have more tendency to bunch.
Overall ... quite many considerations to take into account when amending a unique route such as 171. Best to watch loading patterns after DTL2 opens.

I agree also. A faster alternative route to Marina Centre is 857. I think too many duplication for Svc 171.
Bukit Panjang - Orchard: 190, 972
Bukit Panjang - Marina Centre: 960
I will think that Svc 171 is the service that will be amended... Maybe extend to Yew Tee besides with the extension to 983?

Bad job for 171. 171 is a catchy route from Yishun to Marina Centre. Hopefully 171 can be extended to Shenton Way
