Originally posted by dupdup77:Hi mr iamgoondu, you are wrong. I am an ex-resident of holland. For ghim moh and holland residents, there are many ways to go to bukit timah and dunearn road. There is really no need for introducing Sbs 126 to cover that part and indirectly also duplicate sbs 111 for orchard connection.
Ghim moh residents now can walk to holland road to take bus 77 or 970 and connect to sbs 156 to go to dunearn rd and bukit timah. They can also take sbs 165 to Farrer rd to connect to sbs 174. For holland residents, they have sbs 48. So chill down please. There are more than enough alternatives if you don't want sbs 74. I am afraid you did not analyse the traffic alternatives well. No need to pity the ghim moh residents. They are very near the buona vista mrt station which is an interchange. I can even say they are quite well pampered. Cheers. Thanks.
1. Do you know how winding 74 is?
2. Do you know how terrible the frequency of 156 can be?
3. Do you think every single Ghim Moh resident wants to walk all the way to Holland Road?
4. Do you really think Ghim Moh has enough bus services nowadays?
PS. Don't forget the proposed 126 also connects Bukit Timah to Newton and Orchard, which would be even more important if 171 is shortened/withdrawn. And at the end of the day, if you don't like 126, you can always divert the route to somewhere else. No need to criticise others' suggestions like that just because it seems to duplicate existing routes in you opinion.
What you're doing is more like, "Punggol residents don't need another service because they now can take sbs 3 to TPE bus stop or take sbs 83 to Punggol Rd and transfer to other services. There are more than enough alternatives if you don't want sbs 117. I am afraid you did not analyse the traffic alternatives well. No need to pity the Punggol residents. They are very near the Punggol mrt station which is an interchange with LRT. I can even say they are quite well pampered. Cheers. Thanks. "

Actually 74 can make a detour over there. 92M can also call at the bus stops there.
(I choose 74 because it has the least impact on current commuters IMO. Those going from Buona Vista MRT to Dover Rd still has 196.)
Meanwhile, those at Fusionopolis should be happy with one-north MRT...

I wondering if it is possible to extend SBST191 beyond Portsdown to AYE [Normanton Park] and to Science Park 1. That would link up both one-north and Science Parks, and provide alternative route to 92.
Higher demand for suggested route will help in better frequency to SBST191. A better frequency will in turn generate more demand.

Sorry ah. You think Svc 74 has least impact on current commuters? I dun think so. See it at the night. Even at about 10 pm - 11pm (almost nearing it's last bus timing), students from SIM or even Ngee Ann (during school term) will wait for the bus and board the bus from respective bus stops.
I dun think it is wise for Svc 74 to be winding into Mediapolis as it will affect the waiting time for the students.
Maybe my time of observation has lots of people but then i dun see the point of 74 diverting into Mediapolis. If want, Svc 91 or Svc 191.

Sadly I don't think it's feasible...
one suggestion
bedok int - bedok north street 1 - bedok north ave 3 - bedok res road - Tampines ave 1 - Tampines Ave 10 - TPE (Punggol / SK bus ramp) - Picaddilly - TPE / SLE - Woodlands Ave 2 - Woodlands Int
RATIONALE: to give Bedok a direct link to SK / WL without the winding routes of 87 / 168 which goes to HG/Ubi and Tampines un-necessarily causing too much time on the route
bedok int - T1
Woodlands int - T2
operator depot - BNDEP

Honestly too much duplication with 168. And I don't think demand from Bedok itself to Woodlands warrants another service. (Just saying)
just for fun...

Hi mr array88, each and every one is allowed to post and criticise (but with valid reasons to back him up) in a forum. If he or she cannot take the criticism, then leave it. There is no need to be so sarcastic in your way of writing. Your whole mail smacks of sarcasm with nothing as supporting evidence. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr SBS9256X, yes I agree. Sbs 74 is a long distance runner and should not be diverted into media polis. If really necessary, sbs 91 or sbs 191 are much better choices. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr jurongresident, any other suggestions besides the same Hougang bus interchange again? Cheers. Thanks.
Oh wow. that's makes me take a few moments to backtrack.
My point is simple, IF 171 is shorten or amended to else where, this service maybe useful to cover up the lost sector from Dunearn to Orchard, i acknowledge that 111 serves orchard but it's just a duplication between the orchard and marina sector, in the end they are serving different areas.
This service is also a faster link from Whampoa to Marina area.

Hi mr SBS9252G, what makes everyone think that bus 171 will be cut short once downtown line is up in dec 2015? There are still many bus stops on 171 route not covered by MRT. Cheers. Thanks.

If you say you are allowed to criticise the suggestion, then I also have the right to criticise you. Just a reminder, very often what I see in your comments is just criticism and sarcasm with very little constructive feedback. Just saying.

You do know that his suggestion is not for Punggol residents only, right?

This is good. The extension to Science Park can draw in more commuters and thus a better frequency for SBST191. The extension linked up Science Parks and Commonwealth Ave, which is missing in SBST92.

Hi mr array88, you are free to criticise me but please back-up with supporting evidence. Don't use such shallow opinions with poor reasoning. Don't just criticise me for the sake of criticising me because I go and doubt other people suggestions.
Moreover, I am discussing with the concerned party in a fair manner with points being traded to and fro. There is no fierce objection from the concerned party so who are you to come in and offer nonsensical messages? Want to be righteous also must have convincing points whatsoever la. Just oppose for the sake of opposing because I objected? Get a life, man. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr array88, I know. What I mean is the service he proposed will be better if it does not go to Hougang bus interchange. Maybe another interchange will be much more effective? Cheers. Thanks.

Partially retracting back to the original route before Joo Koon Int route amendment. Close vicinity to Joo Koon remains at Int'l Rd bus stop. Skipped bus stops along Jln Ahmad Ibrahim still served by 192.
I am starting to wonder, what if the reason why 193 and 192 is re-routed to duplicate each other at Benoi Road, is actually because they want to encourage people working in Tuas to alight at Benoi Road and transfer to MRT at Joo Koon station? Maybe this explains why 193 skips Pasir Laba Camp. It's probably temporary. When the Tuas West MRT Extension opens by the end of next year, there's no need for 193 to call at Benoi Road for that purpose, as there will be Gul Circle station. 193 can revert to ply its original route. :)
As to why 193 and 192 swap routes between Benoi Road and Pioneer Road North, I guess this is to minimise loss of connection to Jurong West Avenue 4 when we re-route 192 to ply another route to Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
From the looks of it, it looks like they are "upgrading" 193, while "downgrading" 192.
Well, we could let 192 ply Upper Jurong Road and PIE to Gul Circle station, while let 193 permanently ply the new route (with effect from 28 November 2015).
