Originally posted by SBS6465E:Valide points. I agree with you that BB to BPJ is already well served. But my proposed 71 does not service BPJ at all if you had read carefully. It's more of an enhancement to BB-Beauty World as the fastest link between BB and DTL2. DTL2 will provide a more direct link to Newton, Little India, Bugis and Marina Bay areas and BB should enjoy this as well given its proximity. Also BB West Av 8 is really terribly underserved. Given how close it is to Jurong Town Hall Rd and by extension Jurong East, it deserves a connection there. Finally, most of the streets I am serving do not have a Beauty World or a Jurong East link.
Your suggestion of going into the private housing estates of Chestnut is not necessary given the presence of 184 along Cashew Dr and the corresponding enhancement 71 will provide. Doing so will compromise service to Dairy Farm Rd where you will find more demand from condominiums. Also, these are narrow roads so a bi-directional service may not work especially when residents want to park outside.
With regards to your remarks on the less served areas of BB, I do have suggestions:
Amendment to service 178:
Amendment to service 66:
Tentative extension of service 990:
=============================
These changes will mainly enhance links around Bt Batok town better with Jurong East (66, 178, 990), Bt Panjang (178, 990) as well as Beauty World (66) with minimal changes and additions to existing routes. Intra-town (66: BB West Ave 8 / East Ave 4 to central) and inter-town links (990: CCK south to Gombak MRT; 178: Corporation Rd to Jurong East) are also boosted.
With the changes, 66 can start DD deployments on weekdays. Skipped stops on 66 are all still within walking distance, and easily covered by 157/174/178 along West Ave 3, plus 61/852 along East Ave 3/6. 178/990 still provides link to JE on east side.
As with the link to Cashew / Chestnut, my suggestion to 173/425 still stands, don't forget that you will be unable to let your 71 stop at the northbound Hillview bus stop as well as the southbound Cashew bus stop, whilst mine 425 can. ;)

Hi mr One-punch man, are you serious? An express service but not express enough? Cheers. Thanks.

Even express bus service 513, which is shorter (only 24.5km / 25.3km) than the express bus service I proposed, takes 70-72 minutes to travel between Tampines and Shenton Way.
This express bus service I proposed is 27.9km in both directions and it takes around 63 minutes to 84 minutes to travel in one direction. Based on the estimated travel times, the express-ness of this express bus service is comparable to express bus service 518A (Pasir Ris - Bayfront).
This express bus service follows closely the alignment of a possible future MRT line, which the online community has called it the "Holland Line". If this express bus service is introduced, it could be used to test the water and (after factoring the future demands) determine the capacity (2-car, 3-car, 4-car, 5-car, 6-car, 7-car, 8-car, etcetera.) that is appropriate for the "Holland Line".
This express bus service could be an alternative to express bus service 502, for travel between Jurong West and the City. While the travel times are about the same, this express bus service could relieve the high loading on express bus service 502, and enable a more comfortable ride on bus service 502.
Although this express bus service may take up to 2.8 times the travel time on the MRT (30 minutes) to travel between Shenton Way area and Boon Lay Bus Interchange, it could guarantee commuters a seat - if Double Decker buses are deployed during peak hours. If a commuter is tired and has time to spare, I am sure he would not mind paying a premium to ride on this express bus service.
Likewise, if there is a train service disruption on the East West Line (*touch wood*), this express bus service can complement express bus service 502 to help affected commuters travel between the city and Jurong West, or the North-West region (via Holland Village, Beauty World or Bukit Batok MRT Stations).

Young boy, get this.
Criteria for an Express bus svc is it must take the shortest possible route to at least get to a destination.
506 uses PIE. What other way do you want it to use?? Likewise for 502 and 518. They all use the shortest route possible. Your route? You are charging TWICE, yes TWICE to get people to their destination, on a route no different from a trunk. The fastest route is AYE, NOT all these roads we see here. If anything AT LEAST ply underpasses or something. With all the traffic lights I guarantee it takes longer than 84 minutes.
Please, go sort out your route before throwing your fantasy numbers and try to drag down already-successful svcs.
Is there still space at Bedok Int?
I ask becos I feel the Chai Chee - MP svc works better if it is a bi-directional Bedok - Eunos svc. No other way around it.
Bedok Int - CC St - CC Dr - Changi Rd - Frankel Av - East Coast Rd - Siglap Rd - MP - Stadium - Haig Rd - Paya Lebar MRT - Eunos int

IMO, there is no need for service to MP anymore. Too many services already. Disappointed to see 47 not doing Chai Chee/Bedok North.
This is my new recommendation:
sv 26: Toa Payoh Interchange <> Changi Business Park Terminal
Toa Payoh Interchange >> current route >> Kembangan MRT >> Chai Chee Dr >> Chai Chee St >> Bedok North Ave 1 >> Bedok North St 3 >> Bedok North Ave 2 >> Bedok North St 1 >> Bedok North Road >> Tanah Merah MRT >> Xilin Ave >> Changi Business Park Terminal.
* Boost loading on sv 26 (may even need high capacity buses with this change)
* Provide trunk service to Chai Chee/Bedok North st 3 estate that is for years surviving only on feeders. Trunk provides connection to Geylang, Eunos, Kembangan without MRT transfer, as well as direct connection to Tanah Merah MRT and CBP
* Connects Chai Chee Dr to Kembangan MRT (closest connection)
* Relieves loading on 225G/W as not everyone need to go to interchange/MRT to change. Many can take 26 and transfer at Tanah Merah or Upper Changi road.

Actually, this bus service could be well-received, if it is a normal trunk bus service and it takes the shortest route.
If your concern is about the length being too long for a trunk bus service, we could let it skip Bukit Batok and Holland Road.
Although there is a possible future MRT line which would ply Holland Road and Jurong West, that is for the future, when there is the Tengah town and when the area along the possible future MRT line is more developed. Currently, I do not think there is a sustainable demand to provide a direct bus connection between Jurong West and Holland Road.
I would like to suggest a new trunk bus service, which also plies between Shenton Way Bus Terminal and Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
The length is 20.42km (to Shenton Way) and 20.89km (to Boon Lay). The estimated travel time is around 62 minutes (to Shenton Way) and 64 minutes (to Boon Lay).
I know this duplicates the MRT line between Boon Lay station and Queenstown station. However, this is the shortest possible route between Raffles Place and Jurong West. It still serves the purpose of providing bus connection between the CBD and Jurong West.
Although it duplicates the MRT line between Boon Lay and Queenstown, it fills up the gap in between the stations. It provides the bus connection between Jurong West and Tradehub 21, which is quite weak. It provides the bus connection between Queenstown and Havelock Road which is currently not available. It can help to relieve the loading on the existing bus services along its route, which may be quite high during peak hours.
During normal times, this bus service provides the missing or weak bus connections and relieve the loading off other bus services.
I would like to assign the number "360" to this bus service. We could set side the numbers "360" to "369" for normal bus services that extensively duplicate MRT line(s).

An amendment of 26 into Chai Chee > Bedok I think is more likely, while CBP is less likely and very unlikely using your extension.
LTA really wants to have neat and tidy routes. Extending 26 to CBP using your route is very winding. Your extension adds about 10.2 km from Perpetual Succor Church and puts it the route at 21-23 km.
It is more likely to do Chai Chee St > Bedok North Av 1 > Bedok North Rd > Tanah Merah MRT.
It will enhance the links 14 provide for parts of Bedok North Rd not covered by 45. St 1 is 1-2 bus stops away from Bedok Interchange. So frankly, utilising the MRT is already an option.
Also, a new service completely dedicated to Kembangan - Chai Chee - Marine Parade I is unlikely based on LTA’s response to feedback. I think LTA feels there will not be enough demand apart from students.122 I suspect was an experiment or a political concession. Even though there are offices at Marine Parade, and likewise at Chai Chee, a good chunk of demand will come from all the schools along Marine Parade Rd. Basic retail and health amenities are duplicated at Bedok, though Marine Central definitely has many more options.
But moreover, the big issue would be the terminus and loop point. Because Bedok Interchange is so congested, it is more likely that Eunos is utilized. Thus, this service would need to approach Marine Parade either through Still Rd or Tanjong Katong Rd. Haig Rd is too narrow. Having this service serve Koon Seng Rd will make it very winding. Also, knowing how LTA thinks, they will feel there is too much duplication with existing services as there are no HDB estates nearby even though you could argue a Geylang Serai > Parkway connection would provided via Geylang Rd > Tg Katong Rd. Die die…must use 13 or walk to Still Rd…privatization :(
It would then swing up to Kembangan/Chai Chee through Frankel Av/Siglap Rd, making the service a huge U-shape. I suspect also that LTA wouldn’t want to cannibalize 32, 40 or 42s loadings. Quite silly given that 32 & 40 have other sources of demand while 42’s demand will always predominantly be from Lengkong 3 / 4 and Opera Estate because the loop in & out of Fidelio St really puts people off.
So, it would just be too winding and in LTA’s mind duplicative.
As for Chai Chee, I suspect that LTA feels that 222/229 are already very frequent connections to Bedok where one can transfer to 16, 31, 196 & 197. I agree that geographically this is much longer than a quick ride down Siglap Rd to Marine Parade Rd. But as per the restrictions above, LTA feels it is sufficient.
It would be nice if LTA considered UEC > Tanah Merah > Bedok North Rd > Bedok North Av 1 > CC St/Dr > Siglap Rd > Marin Parade > Marine Vista/ECP loop. But again, very long and winding.
Kembangan is really where it is very jialat because there are no direct services to Bedok Interchange and the walk out to Jalan Eunos is very far. While one can take 42 and change at Flamingo Valley to 40, this is really quite stupid as one has to go in & out of Fidelio St only to transfer to a service that does not directly serve Marine Parade.
Kembangan can at least hope for a simple extension. It could be 135 to Eunos Int (Siglap Rd > Changi Rd > Eunos Int). Not perfect but much better than the current situation. LTA will also be quite happy to cut a long loop service in half to improve loadings and reliability.
I will stop dwelling on this matter. So, I if there are any changes to bus services in the area, I will put my money on these 2, if anyone wants to bet with me :P
1. Service 26 extension via Chai Chee to Bedok or possibly up to CBP via Bedok North Rd.
2. Service 135 extension via Siglap Rd to Eunos Int
FThose who will suffer most will be students. Thankfully I am not in school anymore.

Hi mr SBS9252G, moving sbs 51 to bishan to complete the series 50-59 (bishan int) is good. However, the route is about same distance as going to Hougang. So doubt it will be well received. Cheers. Thanks.
67 cannot split la. Even with DTL3, Bedok - Bedok Reservoir - Tamp will still be needed especially along Bdk Av 3 together with 28. Bedok Int will still be the pre-eminent transport node. Bedok - LI can be covered via EWL & DTL but Bedok got no space to terminate 67. Anyways, the unique Lavender/Serangoon Rd routing will get some demand especially between Geylang & Aljunied and Bt Timah side. More direct than taking MRT. And of course CCK - UBT stretch. So just leave it be I feel. Can introduce 67M for Tamp - Bedok Res - Bedok sector.
Proposal 120-122
120: Bukit Merah Interchange <> Lower Delta Road (loop)
Bukit Merah Interchange >> Henderson Road >> Tehlok Blangah Heights >> current route >> Tiong Bahru Road >> Henderson Road >> Jalan Bukit Merah >> Lower Delta Road >> Tiong Bahru Road (& back)
Purpose: Create space at NBR Terminal, cut short low loading part b/w NBR and Lower Delta.
120M: Bukit Merah Interchange <> Tehlok Blangah st 31 (loop)
Loops at st 31 and comes back, replacing sv 273 (just like 275 & 131M)
121: Marina Center Terminal <> Tehlok Blangha Rise (loop)
Marina Center Terminal >> Suntec City Tower 3/4 >> Rochor Canal Road (express) >> Beach Road (express) >> Nicoll Highway >> Collyer Quay >> Cross St >> Upp Cross St >> Havelock Road >> Ganges Ave >> Lower Delta Road >> current route & back to Ganges Ave >> Havelock Road >> Upp Pickering St >> Church St >> Collyer Quay >> Nicoll Highway >> Suntec City >> Marina Center Terminal
Purpose: Connects Ganges/Havelock to offices in Suntec/Marina Center/Collyer Quay with no service today. Looking how popular 186 is during AM peak to Shenton Way, for sure 121 will get high loading. 121 between Ganges and NBR is weak with unit number passengers.
122: Shenton Way Terminal <> Strathmore Ave (loop)
Shenton Way Terminal >> Anson Road >> Maxwell Road (new stops) >> Neil Road >> Kampong Bahru >> Jalan Bukit Merah >> Kim Tian Road >> Tiong Bahru MRT >> Lower Delta Road >> Alexandra Road >> Tanglin Road >> Kay Siang Rd >> Margaret Dr >> Commonwealth Ave (Queenstown MRT) >> Strathmore Ave (new stop) >> Dawson Road >> Kay Siang Rd >> current route >> Tiang Bahru MRT >> Kim Tian Rd >> Jalan Bukit Merah >> Kampong Bahru >> Eu Tong Sen St >> Upp Pickering St >> South Bridge Rd >> Maxwell Road >> Shenton Way Terminal
Purpose: To boost loading on sv 122 that is performing extremely poorly. Looping at Queenstown MRT will provide direct connectivity to Dawson/Strathmore HDBs that current sv 122 is not able to cater. The loop around Commonwealth Dr is waste and duplicative of 195, especially in journey towards Commonwealth Dr. Connecting Tiong Bahru to east part of Jalan Bukit Merah (no connection today) and 120 did not provide this. Extending further to Shenton via Maxwell provides new CBD connection to Bukit Merah/Tiong Bahru residents. This move should help improve loading on 122.
Any comments/feedback welcome!

67 should def be split in future. But no one is asking to remove Tampines-Rochor Canal. I am proposing new service 68 to take care of it, and makes sense with DTL2. 66 will still be there to cover Jalan Besar-Bukit Timah stretch. Depending on loading, a few DDs can be added to sv 66 on weekdays.
I have another shorter alternative but still Bishan as the terminating pt.

Jurong East - Bishan 29.4KM (Shorter by 8.3KM)
I know this is SUPER CRAZY and will not happen anytime soon. But just some fantasy.
Service 164: Boon Lay - Changi Airport (Loop)
(via Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang, Sengkang West, Punggol)
Link: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zvASY1AjT64M.kocYpKz5us4Y&usp=sharing
- Inter-town connection between Boon Lay, CCK, BPJ and Punggol (and a bit of Sengkang West)
- Relieve load on some popular inter-town routes such as 172 and 180
- Direct service for the abovementioned towns to Changi Airport
- Faster and more direct connection from Punggol MRT to Changi Airport
- Relieve load on 858 from TPE bus stop to Changi Airport
Cons:
- TOO LONG
- A bit winding in Sengkang/Punggol area
- Cannot use DDs, and I don't think SBST will get bendies anytime soon
Hi. I would like to recommend a new express bus service which runs between Tampines and Jurong.
This express bus service is mainly for the East-siders to get to the schools in Clementi and Dover, and to the Jurong Lake District.
This express bus service is for the West-siders to get to Temasek Polytechnic, and to the MacPherson area.
Everyday, many people travel across the East and West. I am sure this express bus service will be well-received by the people.
As this express bus service is mainly for the East-siders and also for the West-siders, I shall assign the number "510" to this bus service. "5" means it's an express bus service. "1" is the middle number for express bus services in the East. "0" is the middle number for express bus services in the West.
Express bus service 510

Estimated Travel Time = at least 40 mins (at most 80 mins); around 60 mins.

Estimated Travel Time = at least 42 mins (at most 84 mins); around 63 mins.

There is bus service 858 which runs between Changi Airport and Woodlands, and it serves almost all the areas in the North-East region served by the bus service you recommended. There are other bus services in this region which provide for the bus connections you recommended. Furthermore, there will be new bus services 117 and 118 coming soon. Hence, I do not think there is a need for the Eastern part of the bus service you recommended.
Likewise, for the section between Choa Chu Kang and Yishun, there are already bus services in the Bukit Panjang town which provide such bus connections.
Nonetheless, based on your recommendations, I have come up with two new bus services: 967 and 968.
It could have been one bus service running between Boon Lay and Punggol, but it would be too long (more than 22.5km) for a trunk bus service. So, I split it into two bus services.
Bus Service 967
Woodlands > Punggol
Length = 18.13 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least 35 mins (at most 70 mins); around 52.5 mins
Bus Service 967
Punggol > Woodlands
Length = 18.34 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least 36 mins (at most 72 mins); around 54 mins
Bus Service 968
Woodlands > Boon Lay
Length = 19.9 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least 24 mins (at most 48 mins); around 36 mins
Bus Service 968
Boon Lay > Woodlands
Length = 19.13 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least 23 mins (at most 46 mins); around 34.5 mins

I suggest that you understand more about my proposed 164 before making such comments.
Firstly, my proposed 164 has nothing to do with Yishun and/or Woodlands. Its pimary purpose is to provide a fast connection between Punggol/Sengkang and towns such as Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang and Boon Lay. No other services provide such connection today. (In fact, 164 can even terminate at Punggol instead of going to Changi Airport)
164 bypasses Woodlands and Yishun by using Mandai Rd and Sembawang Rd. Therefore, there is no need to mention 858 to Woodlands; nor is there a need to create 967 and 968 just to connect to Woodlands only. Moreover, 117 and 118 also serve different purposes compared to 164.
Secondly, although 858 passes by the North-east region, it only calls at one bus stop along TPE and only serves a few flats there directly. Although transfers from there to Sengkang/Punggol are available, they are rather limited and areas such as Sengkang West do not even have a service to TPE bus stop. Therefore, 858 and my proposed 164 (which serves a larger region by passing through Punggol MRT and Sengkang West) basically serve different purposes in this area.
Thirdly, although 171 provides connection between Bukit Panjang and Yishun, it doesn't go all the way to the NE side; on the other hand, my proposed 164 doesn't even serve Yishun at all because that's not its objective.
