Future Tuas interchange route enhancement possibilities:
I made some derivations to the routes based on jurongresident's map, and my version is here (using colour scheme from Joo Koon Int flyers & posters):
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zEEpmI3uw7s8.kTfxSyHlmlJU&usp=sharing
Mainly involves route swaps between 182 & 256 (extension to Bt Batok tentative), and 192 & 254. 259 is tentative. No changes to 193.
Originally posted by array88:Sadly your 192 does not link to Gul Circle MRT.
It does, though only in proximity and not directly.
The point of the route change is to improve the MRT link to the sectors that the current 254 serves. Currently, 254's route doesn't serve any MRT station between Joo Koon and Tuas Crescent.
Originally posted by AJQZC:No point introducing YET another service (duplications, plus Punggol Int space constraints) ... if you need, you can always consider extending / modifiying 85 or 117 in some way.
Hi mr AJQZC, yes I agree. Already no space inside Punggol int. I saw a few buses sbs 62 and 119 need to wait for other buses to move out first before they can park. Wondered how they are going to squeeze sbs 382G/W in from Jan 2016. Cheers. Thanks.

I do see value in a Punggol - St Michael service as I had also proposed earlier, but now I propose a different routing
Punggol Interchange <> Lor 1 Geylang Terminal
Punggol Interchange >> Punggol Central >> Punggol Road >> Punggol Field >> Punggol Way >> Sengkang East Rd (new stop) >> Anchorvale St (2 new stops, one at Farmway LRT) >> Anchorvale Rd (new stop) >> Sengkang West Way >> Fernvale Rd (new stop near Seletar Mall) >> Sengkang West Ave >> Sengkang West Rd >> YCK Road >> CTE >> AMK Ave 5 (ITE) >> AMK Ave 10 >> AMK Ave 3 >> AMK Ave 8 >> Bishan Road >> Bradell Road >> Lor 6 Toa Payoh >> Jalan Toa Payoh (PIE) >> PIE >> Paya Lebar Rd (Paya Lebar MRT) >> Geylang Rd >> Lor 1 Geylang Terminal
Here is the link: sv 150
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zAHrqvntcAUY.kr7s7acMliM0&usp=sharing
Through 1 route, I am trying to serve multiple purposes while still making the route fast.
1. Connect new Waterpoint Mall and Seletar Mall with fastest routing to Sengkang West Town. Routed via Punggol Road, Field to give a bit different route than 117/118
2. Provides trunk service to AMK/Bishan/Toa Payoh via Anchorvale St / Road (first service), Sengkang West Way, Fernvale Road (first service). All these connections are new and nothing common with sv 50 that plies different set of stops.
3. Looking at popularity of sv 50, another service is needed for the HDBs along Anchorvale St/Sengkang West Way.
4. ITE / Sengkang West Rd are common stops, but sv 150 will go via CTE. Quick routing.
5. Connect AMK Ave 10 to AMK MRT (relieve 88) and Bishan MRT (fast connection to CCL, 88 is quite long winding)
6. Connects Lor 6 TPY that has only one sv 57 as trunk. Connects Toa Payoh east town to PIE to transfer to other services + quick connection to Paya Lebar
7. Paya Lebar MRT connected to Geylang Rd (surprisingly no service today)
8. Service uses CTE/PIE wherever possible to make fast connections.

Looks terribly similar to 50 ... maybe a minor route amendment of some other Sengkang services (to serve those new stops), plus an extension may be feasible. A new standalone service (to Punggol) is extremely unlikely - at this point of time.
Different sector-wise, can amend some less efficient routes. No need to introduce one brand new service just for this purpose.

Hi mr busanalyser, I think no need to start from Punggol interchange anymore. Start from sengkang interchange will be fine. Cheers. Thanks.
I went onto www.beeline.sg, went to "SUGGEST >", clicked on "View Results", selected "Popular public transport routes", and clicked on the individual towns to see the popular routes taken.
Not surprised that at all towns, the city is the most popular destination, because traditionally, the city area is where people seek employment, and they stay in the suburbs and have to travel...
But apparently, besides the city, the other popular destination is Buona Vista / Queenstown area.
It was then I realised that there is currently a lack of direct bus connection between Sembawang and Buona Vista / Queenstown area.
I want to suggest a new bus route between Sembawang Bus Interchange and Buona Vista / Queenstown area. However, it is very hard (almost impossible) to keep the route length within 22.5km (otherwise it may be too long for a trunk bus service).
I am thinking of asking for the help of the users here. Please help me come up with a new bus route between Sembawang Bus Interchange and Buona Vista / Queenstown area.
You can help improve the daily commute of Sembawang residents, for those who work or study at Buona Vista / Queenstown area.
Thank you.

Please relook. There is not one common stop apart from originating interchange and few stops for transfer (intentional).
Common stops:
- Punggol Interchange (originating)
- Sengkang West Road (to transfer b/w 50, 86, 103)
- ITE (to transfer b/w 50, 72, 88, 159)
- AMK Ave 6 / Bishan MRT (intentional - to connect highly populous ave 10/ave 3 with direct connection to circle line which is missing today. 88 is quite winding to Bishan)
No other common stops!!!

True, but I think it is needed to connect Anchorvale/Sengkang West to Waterpoint Town. 50 is quite winding to Waterpoint mall.

Why specifically Sembawang and Queenstown? Between this two rather remote towns, MRT would be way faster. Plus, there are other links to other towns from both Sembawang & Queenstown (e.g. Choa Chu Kang) that could have been improved.
Nonetheless:

They can transfer to Punggol MRT 1 stop at Sengkang east way (Sengkang MRT). For those living near the bus stop, they can walk to take sbs 43/43M. Sengkang interchange can squeeze in 1 or 2 new services. Punggol interchange cannot anymore. Today morning I saw many buses need to wait for buses to move out first before they can park. Cheers. Thanks.

Then don't end the service at Punggol. Can start a new service from Bishan, pass by Punggol Central, then loop at Sentul Crescent. Since you insist that it's fast, it shouldn't be a problem.
As for the rest:

As for the rest:
- Amend 154 to serve Lor 6 TPY. Then can do 57 --> 154 to Paya Lebar. (Is there significant demand to warrant a dedicated service? 57 goes to CCL Bishan after all.)
- Extend 141 to Eunos via Paya Lebar Rd --> Eunos Ave 5 --> Eunos Rd 2. Then there will be Paya Lebar MRT --> Geylang Rd.
Sorry all 3 of your suggestions don't make sense to me. It's ok. To each its own.

I'm referring to your new route.
From my point of view, you're proposing a route that mainly caters to one- or two- stage demands - AMK MRT to Ave 10, Anchorvale St to Punggol Central, and the like. You didn't mention the route catering for long distance travellers. So, looking at the state of Punggol Int right now, I'm suggesting that you could convert part of your service into a loop (consider 81, 82), trim it to Bishan (so as not to be too long), and make minute changes to the remainder sectors to suit the needs that you've listed earlier on.
If you're speaking of an entirely hypothetical route introduction that will only take existence some time later in the future (e.g. Punggol Int expansion), then I'm sorry. Please pardon me for speaking out of context.
Cheers.

Hi mr AJQZC, Punggol interchange will still survive with introduction of yet another service 382G/W next month. Other than that, I don't foresee any more new routes into punggol interchange at least until yr 2017. As for sentul crescent with SAFRA coming up, there is 382G/W plus sam kee LRT coming up. They will definitely not introduce a trunk service to ply those minor roads inside Punggol. The few unserved roads in Anchorvale Sengkang and Fernvale sengkang will definitely be served by new services from sengkang interchange as they belong to sengkang, not Punggol. LTA will not route services from Punggol to serve them. They have already begun to expand sengkang interchange when there is still space in sengkang. Cheers.

These are important short connections, while ofcourse also promotes point to point connection for long ditance travelers.

Actually, Sembawang is only one of the towns where the popular routes to Buona Vista / Queenstown area originate from.
The other towns are Tampines, Sengkang, Yishun, Jurong East, Bedok and Woodlands.
However, it is only Yishun, Jurong East, Bedok and Woodlands that have direct bus connection to Buona Vista / Queenstown.
Sembawang, Tampines and Sengkang do not have direct bus connection to Buona Vista / Queenstown.
Somehow, Buona Vista / Queenstown is a popular destination in the morning. It is the second most popular, after the city area. After Buona Vista / Queenstown, the other popular destinations are the Eastern-region industrial areas, AngMoKio-ToaPayoh area, Jurong East (International Business Park) and the Nanyang Technological University . All these can be found at www.beeline.sg.
It may be better to suggest bus routes to cater the travel routes which have the high demands.
Whereas for the route suggestion of yours, the connection is somewhat there, but I feel that it could be faster if we skip Bukit Panjang. It would be better if the route plies North Buona Vista Road along the circle line, because that's where the popular route from Sembawang to Queenstown leads to. If possible, avoid Ayer Rajah Bus Park because I do not think that place is for bus services to terminate. Kent Ridge Bus Terminal may be a better option. Still, the route is quite long, at least around 25.5km.
but at least it's something. currently, I think the MRT and the existing bus services are good enough for travel between Sembawang and the areas along North Buona Vista Road. if there's ever a need for additional capacity, we could use this suggestion.

I have a thought of extending 117 to sk west, Fernvale link
117
Punggol - Sembawang
Svc 46
Changi Business Park Bus Ter
follow svc 47/118's route out
Upper Changi Rd East (Tanah Merah MRT)
New Upper Changi Road
Bedok North Rd
Bedok North Ave 3 (Bedok Reservoir MRT)
Bedok Reservoir Rd
Tampines Ave 4 (Tampines West MRT)
Tampines Ave 3
Tampines St 83
Tampines St 71
Tampines Ave 5 (loop)
New connections
Bedok North Ave 3/Bedok Res Rd to Tanah Merah MRT
Bedok North (especially Blk 85 market area) to Bedok Res MRT/Bedok Res Rd
Tampines West area to Tampines West MRT
IMO, the latter 2 are essential connections that should be present once DTL3 opens. They are currently missing.
171 should start from Sembawang and terminate at Bt Batok.Yishun should introduce a trunk to Zoo follow 171 routes till Mandai.

Hi mr SBS9252G, I don't agree to extend Sbs 117 to sengkang west. This will lengthen the journey time for Punggol wesr residents to go up to the north. Take note seletar aerospace drive, seletar west link and yishun ave 1 are already very time consuming. To get to khatib mrt already needs at least 30 min. Thus they purposely skipped whole of sengkang.
The authorities will extend Sbs 102 to cover seletar aerospace once it is more developed. So sengkang west people need not fear lack of direct bus to seletar aerospace. Cheers. Thanks

Punggol cannot survive already... This afternoon there was terrible jam at Punggol Temp Int and long queues of buses were waiting just for a parking lot.
