Actually, regarding the issue of Waterway HDBs, is the so-called Punggol semi-expressway opening soon? Then 386 can just use this road to Punggol East instead of doing 3 U-turns at Edgefield, Edgedale and Punggol East...

Why are you even worried about Punggol East? The HDB there will be ready only in Q4 2017, 2 years from now.
I was browsing through the Beeline services on their website and realised that Buona Vista/one-north area seems to have popular demand. Hence I came up with these 2 suggestions:
Express 503 & Service 48 extension
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zvASY1AjT64M.khl2Z-60Dv98&usp=sharing
Express 503: Punggol - Buona Vista
Only operates during peak hours.
(Note: 503 plies Central Blvd in direction towards Buona Vista, not Raffles Ave as seen in the map due to Google Maps' error)
- Direct service from Punggol and Sengkang East to MBFC, Shenton Way and one-north
- As peak-hour express services may not start from interchanges/terminals, can be shortened to start in Punggol West and end at Buona Vista MRT if necessary
Cons:
- Too windy in Punggol
- In view of traffic jams along Shenton Way, travelling time to Buona Vista may be affected
Service 48 extension: Bedok North Depot - Ayer Rajah Bus Park
(No boarding/alighting in ARBP.)
- Connects one-north area to Buona Vista MRT
- Connects a sector of North Buona Vista Rd (which doesn't have a service today) to Buona Vista MRT
Cons:
- Route may be too long
- Does not serve one-north MRT
- Cannot use DDs on 48 (but can introduce 48M from ARBP to Buona Vista MRT)

Hi mr array88, mrt plus current bus services transfer can do the job for both. Cheers. Thanks.

Going via Shenton Way towards Buona Vista would be slower and less direct. I think the demand from HDB estates like Punggol to both places is better served by individual bus svcs, as peak hr pax going to work are looking for a much more direct alternative than the MRT. Extending 48 to Biopolis would give direct bus connection to more places, but route may be too long, as you've pointed out. A short bus svc from Buona Vista should be more likely.

Currently there's an access road for construction vehicles from Punggol Rd towards Punggol East, along the future semi-expressway. The full semi-expressway may only be built when new developments on its other side are coming up.
For the time being, BusAnalyzer's amendment of 386 to (the other side of) Edgedale plains looks ok, but it may be tricky to re-route 386 when the road network in that area is fully built up.
Suggestion: Splitting up feeder svc 410 to better serve Sin Ming Rd

italic red - looping sectors
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zJGjfqTTfP2k.kWQxTu864ecY&usp=sharing
-connects industrial estate and HDB flats at Sin Ming Dr & Sin Ming Rd to Bishan MRT, Marymount MRT, Bright Hill MRT and Upp Thomson MRT (future)
-maintains most existing connections, except for Bishan St 22 to St 21/St 12. Can take svc 54 and transfer to 411 at Marymount MRT, travel time likely comparable to existing 410 via Sin Ming Ave, Upp Thomson Rd
-less direct journey along certain sectors, eg Upp Thomson Rd to Marymount MRT (can also take 52, 132, 162, 163 etc along Upp Thomson Rd and walk from bus stop near Shunfu), and Sin Ming Ave to Bishan MRT (can also take 52)
The route suggestion posted by AJQZC:It's a matter of efficiency and resource management, really ... it still bugs me as to why some of the less crowded Yishun trunk services (especially 852, 853) are not being diverted to serve the inner roads (as is the case for many SBS towns, in particular Tampines), while at the same time so much resources is dumped onto new feeders and intra-towns (804, 860).
For example, it would only require a short diversion for any trunk service serving at Khatib MRT to pass by Yishun St 61 / Ave 4, or Yishun Ring Rd near St 71 / 72. The trunk would link these areas to both Khatib and Yishun MRT stations, while skipping a few stops that the remaining trunks can easily cover. 812 would also be freed to serve the new St 41 / 51 areas.
===========================
What about 853 and 855? Seeing that both have moderate frequency / demand and do not serve Yishun Ave 2 outside Yishun MRT, is it possible that they can be enhanced to take over 812's route at both St 61 and Ave 4, with minimal route amendments? As per below:
853: Yishun Int --> Ctrl 2 --> Ctrl --> Ave 4 --> Ring Rd --> Ave 2
855: Yishun Int --> Ctrl (via SAFRA & KTP) --> St 61 --> Ring Rd --> Ave 2
In this way we have two-way direct services to KTP and SAFRA from Khatib MRT. Chung Cheng and Northland get proper links as well. The stop at Blk 935 still has 857, and is close enough to Yishun Ave 2 for other services.
Then:
812 (merged, with G/W): Yishun Int --> Ave 2 --> Ring Rd --> Ave 4 --> St 51 --> St 41 --> Ring Rd --> Ave 11 --> Ctrl --> Int.
(812 will now provide a much more direct link from Yishun Int to the area around Northbrooks Sec Sch, and complements 860 to Khatib. 117 will still connect to Khatib from Ave 1.)
(Cross-posted at bus interchange / terminal thread)
After some thought, I shall refine my suggestion a little - putting it down to three semi-independent schemes that may still increase the efficiency overall.
The map is here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zEEpmI3uw7s8.k1cLkPzdzugo&usp=sharing
Here goes:
===================================
Scheme A: Amendment of 857 (or some other suitable Yishun trunk)
This amendment makes good use of the DDs added to the 857 fleet to cover the link between Yishun Ave 4 (incl. the schools along the way) and Khatib MRT.
The extended stretch from Ctrl 2 to Khatib MRT is about 2,240m, an increase from the current undiverted 978m by about 1,262m or 1.26km. Two pairs of bus stops are skipped (with alternative service 855) in favour of six pairs of new stops.
Using 857 is tentative, of course, but it would be best to employ one with decent frequency (to match 812) as well as having a HC (bendy / DD) fleet.
Scheme B: Amendment of 85
This amendment makes good use of the DDs added to 85 fleet to cover the link between Yishun St 61 and Khatib MRT. The extended route is about 1.7km, an increase of about 1km from the current 700m undiverted route. It disregards the territorial concerns between SMRT and SBST, and maintains the link to Northpoint, while skipping only one pair of bus stops in favour of six pairs of new stops.
As a result of this change, 858 will skip Yishun Ctrl 1 & 2 to reduce problems for its bendys. Without 85, an alternative (and somewhat faster) link to Jln Kayu and Punggol is provided by 117.
Alternatively, this route amendment may be carried out on 117, in the event that it could cause traffic disruptions or demand problems on 85.
Scheme C: Amendment of 812 (East loop)
As a consequence of scheme A, or both A and B, 812's east loop will be less stressful / in demand. The change will allow the service to skip the northern section of Ave 4 (served by 857), and serve the newly developed areas at St 51 / 52. The bus stop at Blk 322 is still within walking distance to the bus interchange (for 857), to maintain the link to Ave 4.
Making use of 812 also eliminates the need to introduce a brand new feeder service to St 51 / 52 / 41, thus saving a berth at Yishun Temporary Interchange.
The extended route is very tentative and subject to changes. It may not necessitate implementation until the new estates are ready.
===================================
So, please do comment. In lieu of the situation in Yishun town, I am very eager to suggest this to LTA already.

For 95, although the additional connection to Clementi is good, I'm not sure if this will affect the frequency too much. I would recommend making 95 loop via Clementi Ave 5 - Ave 4 - MRT - Ave 2 (like 184) instead of going into Clementi Int. Only drawback is that students would lose connection from Clementi Int to NUS.
For 108, this service duplicates 88 a lot....

108's amk-bishan part duplicates 88 a lot, maybe can ply amk ave 3/6/1, bishan rd? provides link to circle line for ave 1 residents (and is a faster link than 13/88 for ave 6 residents because bishan st 22 is avoided)

Have not thought of that but i think if were to loop at Clementi MRT, i would just let the svc straight to serve Blk 365.
108, another alternative is to serve Sin Ming else will be AMK Ave 1

Good proposal. I like it. The DDs on 410W can also be put to better use. It is a pity that the industrial belt along Sing Ming is not connected to Bishan MRT.

Too specific, you're catering only to a select group of commuters. The locations of your stops are not close to transport hubs, so as a result the service won't get much demand during off-peak hours (as it is decisively less direct for non-students).
Consider linking SP and NUS to Upp Bt Timah / Bt Panjang / Woodlands first.
Originally posted by 201911:Going via Shenton Way towards Buona Vista would be slower and less direct. I don't think residents should ONLY rely on NEL. There will definitely be people who don't want to stand on the train for so long or people who cannot board NEL. If other express services like 513, 868 and 850E can be packed to the door, I don't see a reason why an express service to Sengkang and Punggol cannot.

Hi mr array88, we have given up hope. It will not come. Yr 2015 has almost come to an end. People have been asking for years. NEL with transfer to CIrcle line and downtown line 2 today onwards is a formidable weapon to use. Cheers. Thanks.

Consider:
Bt Panjang -- (DTL) -- Newton takes 19 mins
Bt Panjang -- (DTL) -- Little India takes 22 mins
Little India -- (NEL) -- Sengkang takes 20 mins
Newton -- (NSL) -- Yio Chu Kang takes 13 mins
Suppose there is a new bus service from Bt Panjang -- Mandai Rd -- Sembawang Rd -- Yio Chu Kang -- CTE -- Sengkang West -- Sengkang. Would it be faster than NEL? Would it provide more comfort and/or direct connections?

Hi mr AJQZC, for new bus service, I can safely say no in terms of faster than NEL. They will definitely need to make that service go certain parts of a few towns to capture some share of the residents before embarking on expressway and also go a few towns before reaching destination. Normally it takes an equivalent timing close to taking mrt. They will never give you direct from 1 estate express all the way to just another estate unless that bus service is express which means paying premium. By saying this, they may as well not provide this kind of bus service for normal fare service. Cheers. Thanks.
