Hi mr SBS6853S, sbs 43 does not go marine terrace and Ang mo kio. Pity those who have trouble walking out from marine terrace to marine parade road. Too bad Sbs 76 direct link to marine terrace will be a history this Sunday 20 March. Cheers. Thanks.
by the way, why you all until now then start to complain about bus 76 route amendment, when it was announced a few weeks ago?
In case you don't know, I'm preparing you for the possible questions the authorities may ask to oppose your argument.
You all better make sure this case is solid enough to convince the authorities to approve it.
Good luck.

if you all school holiday nothing better to do want to make noise, just say so.
Hi mr gekpohboy, sbs 43 does not go Marine terrace or Ang mo kio. Cheers. Thanks.

It has been seven years since that PTC proposal was approved, but never implemented. Pioneer MRT opened for more than seven years already, but until now, there is no reliable bus service to connect Pioneer MRT to Jurong West Street 61/71/81/82. At least increase the frequency of 258, or create a short working trip of 243 which loops at Pioneer MRT. Can someone please start a petition for this? Thanks.
PTC also approved 113 and 119's merger many years back but it has not been materialised too.

Hi mr gekpohboy, the point is the truth only starts to sink in when the deadline gets closer. This applies to many other scenarios in real life. Cheers. Thanks.
yeah 182 shouldnt be amended to joo koon interchange.. but the route was too long in the past though.
okay. Here's another one.
Possible opposing view from the authorities: there is the new bus 134 which plies the deleted sector of bus 76. Affected commuters of bus 76 can alight at Paya Lebar and transfer to bus 134, to get to Marine Crescent and Marine Terrace.
How are you going to rebut that?
If this is not strong enough, here's another opposing view: what if, the authorities are able to show data to prove that not many people take bus 76 to/fro Marine Crescent/Terrace, and not many people take bus 76 to/fro Marine Parade and Ang Mo Kio? How are you going to fight back?

Hi mr gekpohboy, so easy to rebut this. Ageing population living in marine terrace prefer direct doorstep bus service (1 bus) instead of transfers. To them, transfers is a pain. They are not like you who is able-bodied and super fit young man. Cheers. Thanks.

exactly my point

1. 43 cannot do Marine Terrace on its way to UEC Ter, because you cannot turn right from Marine Terrace to Marine Parade Rd (towards Bedok). Same as 13/16/196 now. 76 can ply the whole stretch of Marine Terrace because it loops there and bring people back to PP/Paya Lebar.
2. Even if you amend 43, there is still no direct connection to AMK Ave 3 / AMK Hub / Mayflower / YCK.
Originally posted by gekpohboy:wait. is the petition against 76 what the regular commuters really want, or is this just some bus “enthusiasts” making noise in the name of representing the regular commuters?
If a service in your neighbourhood or in front of your house is getting cut, and assuming you are not happy with it, obviously you will want people to support you and ask for actions to be taken right? If there are people out there who feel the same way as you, are you really going to stop them from taking any further actions (if they wish) just because they are not regular commuters of this service?

Tell that to the authorities, not me. From the looks of it, this is a very strong case. Good luck.
Even making 76 express from Paya Lebar MRT all the way to Marine Terrace is not that bad at least...

In relation to your second point, I am wondering how many people would want to go to Ang Mo Kio directly from Marine Terrace or vice versa...surely it cannot be the full amount of seats in an SD at any one time, let alone higher figures right? Most passengers would have already alighted en route, such as workplaces in Upp Paya Lebar. Even for Parkway Parade, there is 135 as an alternative...since the advice to transfer to 135 was there when 76 was amended years ago to loop at Marine Terrace instead of Victoria School.

ok.. not just AMK to marine parade.... what about those let say at Tai Seng area (or YCK road area) who want to go marine parade.. fine there is still sv 43 which go directly....
but look at the frequency at the bus stop opposite tai seng mrt
12-18 mins frequency? even at 6pm, 17 mins frequency??
1207 1219 1230 1241 1253 1304 1316 1327
1338 1350 1406 1425 1443 1501 1517 1532
1546 1600 1615 1629 1638 1647 1656 1704
1712 1721 1731 1742 1751 1756 1808 1825
1841 1856 1911 1926 1943
so this is call the alternative? so currently u have 2 bus (76/43) and chances that u might not have to wait that long (18 mins?) but now there will be only one bus...further there is no e-Tt change for sv43, so do not expect fleet add or improved frequency or upgrading of SD to DD... like someone else say that there are 70-90 pax from paya lebar to marine parade.. so how is sv43 going to take the load with the same frequency/same no of SD/DDs?...
or ask pax to take sv24/28/70 then alight at paya lebar and wait for sv134? is sv134 coming at 5 mins frequency? dun think so.. most likely it will be 11-13 mins during peak.. and 15 mins during off peak.....

Let me make this clear. I am only targetting the point about the link to Ang Mo Kio which I feel that the explaination is not convincing. I am not siding with anyone as to whether 76 should be shortened to Eunos or retain its route to Marine Terrace. For your case I do agree with you that the frequency for the second alternative is insufficient to cater to the relatively middle lengthy portion of the route.

Even without E-TT change on a bus service, there might still be upgrades.
There is no 43M there either...
P.S. Even with 43M, the section at Punggol-Serangoon which I take 43 usually has equally bad frequency. Withdrawing 43M and adding all the buses to 43 would be better at least.

Agree that it's time to add all 43M buses to 43.
43M was introduced at the time when there were still 76/135/other services to handle 43's load beyond Serangoon. That's not really applicable now.

mr dupdup, aren't you the one who always says LTA has all the data from ezlink cards. I am sure they have analyzed before making the bold step. To add, I don't think old people take sv 76 beyond Paya Lebar as it is mostly industrial/commercial area. There may be a negligible number.

I agree that 43 should get massive SD->DD upgrade. Actually like I suggested before make 43M full fleet SD and transfer DDs to 43.

Hi mr Busanalyser, yes they have the records. Yes there are many old people who like to take long-distance bus services. Moreover, marine parade, serangoon, Ang mo kio are old estates which are destinations for this bunch of old people.
Anyway, let's look forward to 76/134/150 this coming Sunday. Times have changed. Cheers. Thanks.

Want to make story, also make until more believable.
I dont see 76 from PL onwards filled with elderly wor! I only know the ah mas and ah kongs who head to the nearest NTUC or park in their daily lives. Or do I know too little? Why would there suddenly be A LOT of elderly taking long dist 76? In general also quite little alr, leave alone elderly-specific?
You want talk elderly? Oh I know! Got a lot at THK Hosp! Where 76 is the fastest way to the MRT! Oh and guess what, it is three stops from int! Meaning coz of selfish fools like you these poor elderly must wait for ages on cold hard benches coz a bus, having gone through nearly the full loop, often take 20+ mins to arrive!!! So who's the one helping the elderly?
Originally posted by dupdup77:Hi mr SBS6853S, hope everybody sees the importance of providing direct up to doorstep service in this sbs 76 episode. Not everybody prefers to transfer buses. As for the aged population, they don't like changes to something which is in place for so long. Cheers. Thanks.
Most of the elderly go PP for their groceries. 134 does more than exactly that by providing reliable freq. I doubt many of them even venture so far into whatever places you name.

So you think you understand very well??
You know all the elderly very eng! All carry binoculars and hitch tents and begin their saga to AMK and worse still, Tai Seng!!
I know you rly wanna show your ignorance off but it's best kept to yourself la ah
I can guarantee you, the time waiting for transfer is much shorter than the time waiting for the damn 76 in the first place!
Thought you regular commuter? If you are even one in the first place? Simple general knowledge such as bunching on 76 also dont know?!
If you asking those "not knowing situation" not to comment I think you better not too.
