Is this merely a suggestion or is this the actual service?
Originally posted by array88:Is this merely a suggestion or is this the actual service?
Seems like his proposal... If it is a trunk... i doubt it will do inner streets like 51, 81.. I think it will be more via ring road to the north than south... and no need to connect to yishun mrt again, given that 103 already makes the SAP - Yishun connection.
Service 171 (Shorten to CCK)
via
Original Route
Choa Chu Kang Rd
Teck Whye Ave
Choa Chu Kang Ave 3
Choa Chu Kang Way
Choa Chu Kang Ave 4
But then I foresee the service will be axed.. It maybe serve as a back-up for the downtown line. Any intakes?

From your last sentence I shall presume that your route originates from the CBD, thus Marina Ctr - CCK. High probability of the route being cut or further amended due to duplication with 67, 170 and DTL2.
The other stretch from Yishun - Mandai - Bt Panjang still sees significant demand though, why did you truncate that section? I would preserve it, and probably merge it with 177 to end at Bt Batok (Bt Panjang ITH not ready, and little space at CCK), so as to avoid bunching issues. It can travel via Hillview Rd instead of Gombak Dr at off-peaks when the MINDEF gates are closed. Number as 177/177A for peak and off-peak respectively.

I think he means Yishun - CCK.

Sorry, AJQZC.. I meant Yishun - CCK.
Thanks BusAnalayzer

He said the route would serve as backup for DTL. I thought that was Marina Centre - CCK.
But if we want to discuss a Yishun - CCK 171, that'd be back to my point above that CCK Int is really too crowded, and it already has 927 to Mandai (that has potential to be extended). Yishun - Bt Batok is a better choice for now, IMO.
Alternatively, we can compromise by extending 925 to Bt Batok via CCK Ave 7 / Brickland Rd / Bt Batok Rd / West Ave 2. That'd give 171 space to terminate at CCK.
Anyway ... another suggestion for DTL2.
Break-up and extension: to optimize the use of poorly utilized 173.
Service 173: Clementi Int to Petir Rd (Loop)
To terminate at Bt Panjang when ITH is completed.
Service 987: Bt Batok Int to Yew Tee (Loop)
To cover lost sections of 173, and provide Yew Tee residents a link to Bt Panjang / DTL without having to pass through CCK central.
Unfortunately it seems a right turn from UBT Rd to Hume Ave is not possible ... so may need to cover this section with a 178 reroute to link Hume Ave - Bt Batok, if necessary.
Most former 173 links are well covered: Hillview - Clementi by 963, Hillview - Beauty World by 970, Bt Batok - UBT Rd (Rail Mall) by 178, and so on. Separating this service allow the two sections to be more direct and more useful services (as compared to the current loopback that the 173 route exhibits).
Hillview would be served by six trunks: 173, 176, 177 (or 171, if my suggestion above is approved), 963, 970, 987.

Hmmm.. True also.. I was wondering if 927 can extend to Yishun or not... Then 171 will go parallel with the DTL maybe BPJ - Marina Centre Service

971E and 982E do that job well enough already, lol.
@SBS 9256X: Pls don't do 171 + 927, they serve different sectors of Mandai Rd. That would also remove the well-utilized link to Bt Panjang.
No. Keep Service 67 and 171 as it is, introduce Service 841 as Yishun > Jurong East
Should extend 175 to eunos and continue the journey via sims ave, sims dr, geylang east ctrl, paya lebar rd and back to sims ave. Ply aljunied road also can, can provide relief from sv80.
Geylang east ctrl area only has 2 buses, 80 and 155. And the latter is rather infrequent bringing people to nearest paya lebar mrt faster. There is the polyclinic in the area also.
Only problem is whether is there enough parking lots in eunos int. Would be great if this was introduced under bsep.
hmm, some ideas.. how about a route from changi village to airport? somewhat like a feeder/short trunk.. let me think

Sv 117: Punggol Interchange <> Sembawang Interchange
Punggol Interchange -- Punggol Central -- Punggol East -- Punggol Dr -- Punggol Rd -- Punggol Field -- Punggol Way -- TPE -- Seletar West Link (express) -- West Camp Road (3 stops) -- Yishun Ave 1 -- Yishun St 41 -- Yishun Ring Road -- Yishun Ave 9 -- Yishun Ave 6 -- Yishun Ave 7 -- Yishun Ave 2 -- Canberra Rd -- Sembawang Way -- Sembawang Cres -- Sembawang Dr -- Sembawang Interchange
** Offers all unique connections w/ very little duplication
1. Intra-town within Punggol connecting Punggol central, Punggol dr, Punggol West (no service today ~ for part of it 386 does it very poorly!)
2. Connects all of Punggol town (except Punggol field east) to Northern suburbs with quick link to Yishun West town
3. Cuts through SAP quickly using Selatar West Link, but calls at few stops to facilitate future transfer to 102/103 as well as serving the SAP workers
4. Connects different parts of Yishun than 103 providing trunk service to Ring road, ave 1, ave 9, ave 6, ave 7
5. Connects Sembawang MRT quickly to Yishun West town (those going to Sembawang, need not take feeder to Yishun and then MRT)
6. Connects Yishun Industrial Estate / Yishun Ave 2 / Canberra Rd to Sembawang MRT (no service today, especially important with upcoming Canberra estate)
7. Connects Sembawang Crescent to Yishun town (today have 859 that is quite long winding + Sembawang Cres has quite a few developments coming up)
I think this service will also do well with high capacity buses... but maybe first to start with all SD fleet, and then upgrade as done for sv 4/35.
** Your feedback is appreciated.

Eunos got enough parking lots for another 2 service.SMRT 61 exclusively got 4 parking lots!

Tanjong Katong Road South is not so bad... the trees and branches are very high except at one place while entering TK South road from ECP... The exit way towards ECP is fully clear.. I go there very often so have observed this...
The bus can use Tanjong Katong South on its way to ECP and Fort road on its way back. Even better just chop few branches and you can use Tanjong Katong south in both directions.

CBP might use 4x series and svc 48 might terminate there.Missing link to Bndep will be covered by svc 47x passing by Bndep and loop somewhere Bedok North estates. There might be another 2 svc going to Northeast and CBD district too.Upp East Coast is also slated for expansion too.
