should we vote this piece of crap back in?
(from straits times)
[b]Separately yesterday, Transport Minister Yeo Cheow Tong spoke to reporters about commuters' worries about fare increases:
He said: 'As the rest of the MRT fares go up, we will try to ensure that the North-East Line fares do not change very much, so over time, the rest of the MRT fares should catch up with the NEL.'

I agree with what one man said on TV show, "MRT is not to make money out of Singaporeans".Originally posted by TIB1186Z:So much for promising to freeze the fares for the time being.
The same will happen for the Circle line, I expect that services that duplicates most of the line may be withdrawn after it opens in around 2008.Originally posted by off_service:I read an article in the Chinese newspaper in the forum. A reader had written in to express his/her views on the opening of NEL. Well, I agree with one of the points stated.
It was said that with the opening of NEL, Scheme B services will be gradually withdrawn. The reader said that this move is to "force" passengers to take NEL by taking away the cheaper alternatives. This is the same for public bus services.
Cheaper?! Some of the Scheme B services take hours to get to the city and charge more than what I pay for 502 from Sengkang to Boon Lay!Originally posted by off_service:I read an article in the Chinese newspaper in the forum. Really? It costs about $2 per ride or something like that, regardless of distance travelled, isn't it?Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Cheaper?! Some of the Scheme B services take hours to get to the city and charge more than what I pay for 502 from Sengkang to Boon Lay!
But service 5 was withdrawn anyway.Originally posted by oliver_yuen87:Sometimes, complaintsmight work.. For example, Tibs or don't know who wanted to withdraw services 180, 184 and even 190 prior to LRT's opening. Many people complained and all these 3 services were not withdrawn

Service 970 was introduced to replace service 5.Originally posted by tranquilice:But service 5 was withdrawn anyway.
Yes, the bus companies can be full of bullshit sometimes. I've had enough dealing when them. Why is Sv. 806 not daily, apparently it can be daily with O405Gs operating on that service, isn't it? Are passenger demands that "low" it can't be operated on Sunday? AFAIK people go out on Sundays!Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Please, in Singapore system, they stress something that goes along the following lines (......strongly encourage feedback from the masses......Independent committee to review feedback............make improvements.........BUT only if it is pragmatic................( blah blah blah and another 2 nice pages of explaining the pragmatic policy, which in fact, are denials for throwing complaints etc. down the drain.)) Taken from the Sec. 4 SS Txtbk. on Govt.
Yes, yes, Sec 4 Social Studies textbook huh? You quote too much!
So, complaints will rarely work, they normally , in this case, TIBS, give a barrage of reasons not to look into it and shut off the topic. Try looking at svc 806, introduced for so damn long as 804A, gone through a renumbering exercise at TIBS discretion, 2 yrs of campaigning + MP rallying to force TIBS to make 806 run full day for some days in 2000, and though residents complain like siao + the population density so high with mentions in the forum, TIBS still did NOTHING except to provide the standard phrase "......low passenger demand....not economical....." for every complain about 806.
For one thing, now passengers have to reply on service 804 on Sundays / PH. Service 804 already has enough passengers for it's own 12m O405s. Imagine adding in the load from service 806.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, the bus companies can be full of bullshit sometimes. I've had enough dealing when them. Yes, adding to the fact Sv. 804 cannot use O405Gs due to that stupid u-turn along Yishun Ave 1, TIBS or LTA should build a turn it like that of Jurong Power station, the bus turns in, loops in the circus and comes out. And fix a traffic light with sensor system to detect the bus is coming so as to activate the lights accordingly.Originally posted by off_service:For one thing, now passengers have to reply on service 804 on Sundays / PH. This will never happen, and its been so many years already. There is an improved version at Yishun Ring Road to cater to the U-turning of 804A, where there is this large rectangle for the bus to turn, but I don't know whether it is enough for a 0405G to turn. The L-shaped thing had been expanded several times, but I guess TIBS still wanted to deploy only 12m 0405s on 804, but I still think that 0405Gs can stomach tight turns in neighbourhoods, like svc 800 turning at Yishun St. 71Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, adding to the fact Sv. 804 cannot use O405Gs due to that stupid u-turn along Yishun Ave 1, TIBS or LTA should build a turn it like that of Jurong Power station, the bus turns in, loops in the circus and comes out.
