Hi mr carbikebus, yes pity those pasir ris st 71 residents having only service 3 to depend on for years unless they walk out to pasir ris drive 1 take plenty of buses. If the authorities deem pasir ris st 71 to have only a service, I am all for it. But that route should not be service 3 because service 3 needs travel from Punggol via the super unpredictable TPE to reach pasir ris st 71. If service 68 plies the route you mention above, it gives st 71 residents a much more stable and predictable timing to nearest Pasir ris mrt. After that, service 3 should be amended to skip pasir ris st 71 and just ply straight pasir ris drive 1- drive 8- pasir ris int to drive 3. Cheers. Thanks.

I agree svc 3 should go direct via ave 1 to Pasir Ris MRT instead of doing st 71 so that it brings people from Punggol quickly to Pasir Ris. I suspect 68 would have DDs also on it + starting from Pasir Ris, it will be more reliable. This way 68 can also have guaranteed good loading.

Hi mr busanalyser, if this service 68 really goes by this route, then whoever really thinks of it and rubber-stamps the implementation should have known the problematic service 3 and must have heard the worries which pasir ris st 71 residents have. Cheers. Thanks.
SV973 have been announced by LTA.... starting 26/2.

out at LTA FB & website(just released at 1030hrs)
obviously not calling at bus stop directly at hillview MRT. the nearest bus-stop to the MRT station is those 2 orange bus-stops along dairy farm road or the 1st bus stop along hillview road to MRT exit B
will people willing to walk to & fro from there?
"From 26 Feb, new #Bus Service 973 will start operations & enhance connectivity btwn #BukitPanjang, Hillview & Hume Ave." - LTA
973 route is parallel to 700 all the way from Bukit Panjang to Dairy Farm. This also signals something may happen to 700 otherwise there is no reason to divert it via Dairy Farm. It seems to be introduced solely to cover future missing connection between Petir and BPJ, at same time connects Petir to Hillview.
The condos along Hume will be v happy as all these years they had to rely only on 173.

To some extent, it does make sense. BSEP ends this year and there maybe need to relocate buses to services that need it more in future.
Just look at 171 going full between Yishun and BPJ, then with less than 20 pax all the way till Stevens, and then loading picks up again. Same with 67 having good loading between CCK and BPJ & then from Little India to Tampines. The middle part has less than 15-20 pax per bus and most are HC buses. This also screws the reliability of 67 in the heavy loading sector of Little India-Tampines.

173 & 973... LTA purposely chose numbers so close or it's just coincidental haha

guess they are introducing a replacement service first....let ppl get use to it first. see whether the paxes taking 700 will switch to DTL2 or not..
maybe they learn from the lesson of 76/134....

Those from Petir road going to Orchard will continue to take 700 as DTL2 will not serve the purpose. These people will be inconvenienced as they will need to do one transfer. Of course, this number is not very big.

It has been announced that route 700A will be withdrawn "with 973 being taken over". As such, 700 and 971E will continue to be peak-hour services as usual.

Should just make 960 swap routes with 700 between Whitley Road and Bras Basah Road so that there's a direct link from Woodlands to Orchard...

Yup, I agree - that will be a good move.
Finally heard the launch of another new service 973. Cheers. Thanks.

Your svc 381 will help 136/386 a bit..

Hi mr carbikebus, why will 381 help 136? You mean 381 go by Punggol field and edgefield plains the two stops which 136 goes by?
I hope they do the sensible thing by not making 381 ply any parts of edgefield and edgedale plains. It must be simple, direct, fast, Punggol central to Punggol east to Punggol east end.
I certainly don't like the route of 386 although I understand the limitations of the authorities due to the road structure and the need for internal connection for residents. Cheers. Thanks.
