further first two packages, the local operators know they are just bridemaids...
and your chicken rice example is not entirely correct as compare to SBST case... the different between SBST/woodland transport is around 20% difference.... unless you are saying that SBST is bidding at 50% of Woodland transport price...
so u can still see $2 chicken rice in singapore as compare to S2.50 OR S3.00.
Sorry for my bad example.
I agree with you. Existing operators (SBST and SMRT) only need to obtain extra half of this package so it is quite easy. If that is the case, would that be the reason why some other bidders disappear this round (Keolis and Transdev etc.)? Because they know they can't achieve such low price? Then it would be very interesting to see the game and results.
Just feel so sad for WT. Seems they have one of the best local knowledge and highest passion, but unfortunately price was not in the low range every time.

If they're so keen on low price and those two start lowering their bid,Then what's d point of BCM?Show off?
Go-Ahead's bidding price was presumably enough on the assumption that the operating model and methods that were proposed are in use. Ever since the crisis, they were forced to tweak their operating model and methods away from the ones proposed in the bid thus their cost baseline is now different from the one proposed. It is unknown if the bidding price is still enough and sufficient after the changes.
Wondering who the Seletar Bus Package has been awarded to? Here it is – SBS Transit Ltd (SBST)
Under the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), SBST will operate the Seletar Bus Package of 26 bus services from the new Seletar Bus Depot. These bus services will originate from Ang Mo Kio, Yio Chu Kang and Yishun Bus Interchanges.
As part of the 5-year contract, the 26 bus services will be implemented in five tranches from the first quarter of 2018.

There goes the competition....Im not suprised Bulim and Loyang will be taken over by the two incumbents later.

Hi mr popokelai, yes I am right. In a much earlier post in sep or oct 2016, I have predicted sbs transit to win. But there are many doubters saying that the authorites reserve the 3 tenders for foreigner operators. Now I am proven right. Guess money really speaks loudly. How LTA will not award to Sbs transit in view of its super low bid? Guess they are rational when money is concerned. Cheers. Thanks.
SBS Transit wins the Seletar Bus Contract. The seletar bus contract comprises of 26 bus services (including 2 new BSEP services), at Ang Mo Kio, Yio Chu Kang and Yishun. The contract will commence in the first quarter of next year, and be implemented in five phases.

The death of old bendy buses had already started. There will be 7 more B9TLs to replace all bendy buses on 190 first.
The fleet of Seletar Bus Contract will have virtual reality hybrid double deckers for feeders.

Let's see if SBS Transit can deliver good quality bus services in the Seletar Bus Contract.

it just happened that SBST's tender had better quality than the others, thats all
I don't see foreign operators have any chances if pricing was the key factor in future.
If SMRT turn to bid absurb lowest bidding in the coming Bt Merah package too..
Then,Its really goodbye and farewell to both Tower Transit and Go Ahead😂
So are we expecting like for eg a KUB on 851? Haha

Hi mr hgdep103, that is just a smokescreen on the outer front to connect with people. They will not divulge whatever goes inside the boardroom. Cheers. Thanks.

SBST A22 & A95...I doubt they want the Enviro500

can happen... there will be no change to the current fleet on SBST side so dont be shocked if VSO or CDGE appears on ex SMRT services
Finally, a true blue Singaporean company that has proven track record.
SMRT, next time bid lower than SBS Transit, okay? You also another company wth proven track record. All the best for the Ulu Pandan bus tender.
YES ! SBS Operating MAN A95 is my dream come true . Yes ah !
Maybe the bukit merah package goes to SMRT buses? Anything can happen. Somemore SMRT buses loses a number of svcs alrdy.
Erm... first of all, I don't think SBS Transit is allowed to use buses from its other bus depots; only those that are in Seletar, Loyang and Bulim depots.
Secondly, given the low asking price, I have a feeling that SBS Transit might have asked for a uniform bus fleet to use. Aka. Volvo B9TL Wright and Mercedes Benz Citaro.
Whatever they do to cut cost, just don't upset the bus drivers... and everything should be okay.

Possible too given SMRT have B9TL and Citaro too.

100 million dollars cheaper who would resist?

Could probably explain why some Wrights and Citaro are still having SBST stickers inside?

Hahaha i really wish they use only B9TL and Citaro for their Yishun svc.
