someone mentioned there is a 150 buses limit. then due to the exchange rate between S$ and RM, the traffic on the Woodlands Crossing becomes very heavy. 170 alone had 40 KUBs, not counting 170X. we have also 160, 950 along with other buses on this very link.
Any 950 buses that call at opposite MSL will be full during peak hours. 856 which calls at WTCP will also be full at the same stop, despite it being a DD majority service. SMB315C had said to intro 950M between WDL and WTCP. note that transfers from any service at WTCP to bus services at WDL X-ing has a 45mins limit. is the majority doing such transfers?
The height limit at both WDL X-ing and BSI are both 4.5m at least. this certainly allows DDs on Cross Border Services. JB-rigged buses are required for such services. SPAD cannot allow DDs to be JB-rigged? LTA does not want DDs for Cross Border Services? the U-turn under Jalan Terbau is not 4.5m?
true. SBS & SMRT having their own personal concerns over use of DDs such as safety i cant be too sure too. But theres one thing for sure. TS8 has been using DDs iirc, along with many other express coaches by singapore and malaysia. I may not be an expert with bus models and their specifications, but im pretty sure this is one area we can ask why can they use DD while our operators cannot or do not?
TS Coach DD is low in height in fact its less than 4m..

hmm our tall are our SBS & SMRT ones?
Originally posted by CZT:hmm our tall are our SBS & SMRT ones?
Standard City bus double decker is 4.35m
Low height E500 is around 3.92m
The Coach DD is around 3.9m,Go to lower deck and you know why.
If really JB routes can deploy DD it would be nice.
160/170,A mix of K230UB & B9TL and 170 no need to deploy until 44 buses.
950 can use A22/A95.

97 last time to Hougang now you want to extend to Punggol?
97 should extended to geylang lor terminal
Originally posted by Vampire77lim:97 should extended to geylang lor terminal
For what purpose?Right now 62 is the service that need to terminate @ Lor 1 due to its hectic route and rest time.
62 should go back to serve chinatown and loop back to punggol

Since Hougang Bus Interchange has no more room for more than 2 new services, I choose Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange (For Service 97)

Hi mr path light, hougang bus interchange is already expanded and has room for more than 2 new services. Cheers. Thanks.

Even though the final 13 lots has been in use,the total parking lots at PGL stands at 37 and do you have any idea how bad the parking issues is during peak/meal break time?Sometimes even SBST park at GAS lots
All under control by lta is not considered to provide the bus service even though the feedback on the bus service lta can't provide the bus service

Please, there's no point in creating a long route that crosses two ends of the island. Because it will be too long and unfeasible for the bus driver / company (due to jams, etc)
Existing cross-island routes such as 14, 51, 61 are already very problematic, prone to jams and bunching.
Good routes serve towns direct to the point. Either Jurong East -- CBD, Punggol -- CBD, or Jurong East -- Punggol (without passing via CBD).
In addition, please don't resurrect the 2003 (pre NEL-rationalisation) routes. Population and travelling patterns have changed after 14 years, people are already used to these services. Create new and better routes.
Thanks.

If 97 is extended like this it will be the first time the normal bus service can go from Central Expressway to Tampines Expressway (excluding Premiums, now you cannot enjoy comfortable seating on Premium 550 anymore). Then this will also be like proposed express service from Sengkang to Shenton Way which is quite aborted.

Originally posted by AJQZC:Seems a bit too long when 945 / 947 are already doing the job at West Ave 2/4/5, and a merger is not suitable either. I think can cut at Bt Gombak MRT plus a loop around Bt Batok Rd. So like this:
(943)
- BB Int
- BB West Ave 3 (Poly, Blk 140, PEPS)
- BB West Ave 8 (Blk 445A, Blk 440)
- BB West Ave 6 (Blk 442A)
- BB Rd (Opp Blk 437)
- BB West Ave 5 (Opp Blk 435A, Opp Blk 467)
- BB St 31 (Blk 309)
- BB West Ave 5 (Bt Gombak MRT, Blk 531)
- Loop back
In addition to this feeder, BB West area should have about 1-2 trunk services to link to nearby towns (Jurong East / CCK / Bt Panjang / Tengah). Some considerations are as follows:
(928)
- BB Int
- BB West Ave 3 (Poly)
- BB West Ave 6 (Blk 451, Blk 461C)
- BB West Ave 8 (Blk 438A)
- BB West Ave 4 (Blk 419)
- BB West Ave 7 (Blk 406)
- BB Rd
- Brickland Rd
- CCK Grove
- Keat Hong Link
- CCK Ave 1
- * (merge with 308 and loop around CCK MRT, as with other merged cross-town feeders such as 3, 38, 60. Minimal duplication with feeder 943.)
(180)
- (Existing route from Boon Lay)
- BB Rd
- BB West Ave 6 / 8 / 5
- BB Rd
- (Existing route to BPJ)
- -
- ** (Between 160 and 180, only one route should be changed if need be, and with minimal amendments if possible)
(New service to Tengah)
(New / amended service for better link to Jurong East)
Other existing services mostly stay as they are.
Originally posted by SBS3004X:Actually I did consider looping at BB Rd, but it will increase travelling time to BB MRT/Int.
The whole point of my route not looping around BB Rd was to give residents a choice between BB and Bt Gombak MRTs.
Ah, but my amended route would still give the residents that choice, isn't it? They simply have to walk to the other side of the estate served by 943. Otherwise 928 is still there to take them to either BB or CCK. ![]()
It's not a particularly significant point of contention ... I simply suggested it this way to minimize route duplication between 928 and 943. And also to provide 180 some coverage of this part of the town.
My new suggestion
Service 501
Jurong East > Punggol
Jurong Gateway Road
Jurong East Central
Jurong Town Hall Road
Ayer Rajah Expressway
Central Expressway
Tampines Expressway
Punggol Road
