They were just out yesterday. Saw a lorry load of notices at Ang Mo Kio Int delivered, 22 and 70, 130 and 139. Also saw 72's.Originally posted by SBS9818A:All other diverted services, Sv. 22, Sv. 53, Sv. 70, Sv. 72 etc will be amended from Saturday onwards, instead of Friday. I will go down to the interchange to look if the notices are up(yesterday they weren't)
Passengers are FORCED to alight before the U-turn and passengers are to board AFTER the MRT station. So much for a loop service.Originally posted by tranquilice:I visited Punggol MRT station on Friday, LTA is currently building a temporary bus interchange beside the station, should be ready by next year.
Service 83 serves 2 stops outside the station, one is after the south entrance and the other one is after the north entrance. (There are 2 entrances and exits which are at the north and south of Punggol Central). The driver has a bit of hard time making a U-turn as the road to U-turn is quite narrow.
I was at the 2 bus stops outside the station and passengers are allowed to board and alight at any of the 2 bus stops they like. I don't see any restriction there on where to board and alight.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Passengers are FORCED to alight before the U-turn and passengers are to board AFTER the MRT station. Service 136 does not stop directly outside Punggol station like service 83. Instead, it stops at an un-named road parallel to the station and again along Punggol Central. (one stop after the station) The route of service 136 remains the same since it plys Punggol town.Originally posted by xin1jun2:i did not see 136 anywhere near the punggol stn on friday
I was there on Friday. The driver announced for all passengers to get off and he'd make a U-turn to pick the other passengers up.Originally posted by tranquilice:I was at the 2 bus stops outside the station and passengers are allowed to board and alight at any of the 2 bus stops they like. I was there yesterday (24 June). I board service 83 at the bus stop before the U-turn, and passengers are allowed to alight after the U-turn. I'm sure that bus driver you mentioned is gonna be complained.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I was there on Friday. But there is no logic as passengers can board from TWO bus stops just opposite the road from each other going in the SAME direction. The first bus stop should be blocked, forcing passengers to be a little inconvienced, but possibly paying less than if they boarded from the first bus stop.Originally posted by tranquilice:I think that for all bus services which has stops before and after a u-turn, passengers are allowed to board and alight at both stops.
A good example is service 15 along Marine Parade Rd (before and after Amber roundabout), passengers are allowed to board at the stop before the roundabout and they are also allowed to alight after the roundabout.
Force the services to skip one of the two stops?!Originally posted by SBS9818A:But there is no logic as passengers can board from TWO bus stops just opposite the road from each other going in the SAME direction. Yes, it would be much better as there would be less confusion as now passengers can only board from ONE bus stop.Originally posted by tranquilice:Force the services to skip one of the two stops?!![]()
What confusion? But it will sure bring inconveniences to passengers especially the elderly if they are to cross the road using an overhead bridge to get to the bus stop. To them, it would be better if they board the bus without crossing the road.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, it would be much better as there would be less confusion as now passengers can only board from ONE bus stop.
Then what for open two bus stops?Originally posted by tranquilice:What confusion? There are facilities or shopping on both sides of the road, so they can board at any of the stops without crossing the road either to or from the placeOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Then what for open two bus stops?
As for the case of service 83, notice that the road (Punggol Central) will be further extended beyond the current U-turn point. So LTA built a bus stop each on both side of the road, also Punggol station is the only station in which the concourse is divided into two by the road, so this mean passengers can board and alight at any one of the two stops depending on which part of the concourse they are going to/coming from. So SBST let service 83 to stop at the bus stops on both sides of the road for the convenience of passengers.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Then what for open two bus stops?
Yes, this is what I mean. Skipping one stop would mean some passengers have to cross the road (eg. an overhead bridge) to board the bus.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:There are facilities or shopping on both sides of the road, so they can board at any of the stops without crossing the road either to or from the place
