All, I took service 110 this morning. I found an interesting scenario. A number of people boarded 110 at changi airport terminal 4 bus stop and alighted just 1 stop later at the bus stop further outside SATS flight kitchen bus stop and transferred to service 53.
This shows most people will still take bus even for 1 bus stop instead of what most people think that they will walk. This also shows the awkward situation for those living around pasir ris area which has no direct service to terminal 4. Cheers. Thanks.

This isnt unexpected since the walk from T4 to SATS isn't even that near to begin with..

Walking distance far la bro
by now, remember that 137 is not an intended route to take from Sims Place to Upper East Coast. a lot of people only do short haul. Main reason is in the middle of the stretch is surrounded by Ubi and Kaki Bukit factory. same as 856.

While 137 connects Ubi and Kaki Bukit estates to DTL stations, it fails to connect with bus services from Tampines Ave 10 (e.g. 8, 15, 58, etc), Bedok Reservoir Rd (e.g. 21, 22, 65, 66, etc) and Eunos Link (e.g. 25, 51, 87, 854, etc). 137 provides more coverage to new areas but little integration with the existing bus network.
But then, 137 is often full between Bedok North St 3 and Bedok North MRT during morning and evening peak hours. This sector alone probably generates enough revenue to cover for the low ridership in the other sectors.
If 137 is amended to connect with more bus services, I believe the ridership will increase.

I agree with your points. They should do minor tweaks to 137
(1) Take left from Bedok North Road to Bedok Reservoir Road for bus interchange to svc 5, 21, 8, 65, 66, 228 etc. and then turn right on Ave 4 to go to Kaki bukit north industrial estate (following current route)
(2) Take left onto Jalan Eunos and then right onto UBI Ave 2, do UBI MRT and then take left to connect to UBI Ave 1 and 63/63M. this will provide one stop transfer to 25, 45, 51, 854 and many other services.
After introduction of service 71, further replication of BSEP bus services is needed (together with TEL opening, they need new service from Woodlands to Bishan via Woodgrove).
929: Woodlands - Bishan
967: Woodlands - Compassvale
Service 46-esque type of route (Tentatively numbered 967), but will go from Woodlands to Compassvale:
Woodlands Avenue 7
Woodlands Avenue 2
Woodlands Avenue 5
Woodlands Avenue 4
Woodlands Avenue 1
(Woodlands Avenue 12)
(SLE)
(Mandai Avenue)
Sembawang Road
Upper Thomson Road
(SLE)
(TPE)
Sengkang East Road
Sengkang Square
This will bring inter-town connections in Woodlands.
This will bring connection from Mandai Avenue to Sembawang Road, as it is not yet even connected by any bus ride.
This will bring connection from Upper Thomson Road to SLE, and TPE to Sengkang East Road, as it is not yet even connected by any bus ride.

I think for now (probably next year) we should focus more on the review of the current bus routes along DTL. Pertaining TEL and any other routes may be less likely to happen
Oh and dont forget Kampong Bahru Bus Ter. Still no news yet thou we are nearing mid december...

Since it was said that the terminal will open in end 2017 and the terminal looks more or less completed, the opening date could possibly be on Sunday December 31 since newer interchanges/terminals traditionally opens on Sundays. If that's the case then the announcement should come around now or next week because there's only 3 weeks left until new year.

Probably end of the month since all 4 Operators haven't announced the route extension to Kg Bahru Terminal
Since BSEP 5 year plan has ended. I don't think more new services will be introduced within the next 6 months.

They will need to introduce new services to newly developed areas such as Punggol Northshore, Tampines North, Bukit Batok West Town. This will need to happen either in form of new services or modification of exisiting services.
The duplicating services that were introduced to reduce loading on parent service will stop. This has already been done massively.

Maybe the next phase will be to rationalise bus services along the CCL and DTL. Rationalisation was done within a year after the opening of NEL but was never done after the opening of CCL and DTL.
Some of the resources that duplicates with CCL and DTL could be better utilised in newly developed areas as mentioned by BusAnalayzer.
Resources should also be diverted to areas served by only one MRT line or no MRT line, to provide more options for commuters. For example, instead of having multiple express services from Bukit Panjang to downtown (190, 700, 960, 972, DTL), why not divert one route to form an express service between Bukit Panjang/CCK and Jurong West/NTU? KJE is often congested, the NSL and EWL is often crowded esp at Jurong East, and the bus network in Jurong West really sucks when the EWL is closed. Jurong West residents and workers deserve a fast and direct route to DTL stations.
This process will take time as further observance of loading of these services related.

Why not?
16 go via Sports Hub and Amber Road?
127 extend to Eunos via Kaki Bukit, KPE as it instead of saying useless or clueless 127.
258 extend to Lakeside instead of saying useless or clueless 258.
Anyway, by then need to increase more bus routes not more rationalise due to MRT lines. Zero growth of COE is coming. Lifespan extended.

To which areas?
So if you want to go from Hougang to Clementi, you can only take bus 165 (don't pass through CBD). 147 got to pay ERP at the CBD.
Ang Mo Kio to Clementi? Same. Just only take bus 165. You can't take bus 166 beause it will pay ERP at the CBD.
Need bus routes that pay to the government (CBD) and not pay to the government (non-CBD).
165 demand is quite low not because of Circle Line but because it is no longer popular after all. It goes through private houses (Ulu Pandan/Holland/Farrer).

Service 974 starting from 1 January 2018 from Bukit Panjang to Joo Koon confirmed
@Wee.eddie : FAKE NEWS
FOR the next six months at least there will be NO more new services to be introduced as the five year BSEP programme is already over.

Since when do they announce new routes just 3 days before commencement?
