If I’m not wrong service 68 runtime is between 55-63 mins.

For service 974 would be B9TL and Citaro
Want to pamper new service with DDs even when loading won't be there for first few years but will refuse to give DDs to existing services where loading is high and still operate with quite a few SDs in its fleet.
68 full SD

Maybe they’ve learned through 127
Service 68 might get DDs in future when demand gets higher when Tampines Bto flats completed in a few months time. Just like service 883.
So,TTS got take any buses for 974?

Possibly yes,All of their DDs got 68 route details.
The frequency of 974 is 11-15mins throughout the day.
Saw this at Joo Koon Bus Interchange information board.
Have thought about taking 974 to Choa Chu Kang instead of taking the MRT. Already, the possible travel time is turning me off. (Source) Now that I know the frequency is 2 times longer than the MRT, I may want to give 974 a miss.
MRT frequency:
2-3mins during peak hours.
5-7mins during non-peak hours.

Eg. 38mins on 974 instead of 18mins on MRT. (Source)
Now that I know the frequency is 2x longer than MRT, I’m seriously giving 974 a miss.
Give it sometime to pickup on its loading then frequency increase will be justified .. like all new svc takes time to be known ... eg like 185 when first commenced years ago was 20 mins freq, now 10 -15 min or lesser During peak
To be honest, the response on the ground has been favorable, be it Choa Chu Kang or Jurong West.
Many people are under the impression that 974 will offer a faster commute between Choa Chu Kang and Jurong West, but are unaware of the peak-hour traffic jams that could lengthen the travel time.
Would like to request LTA to implement bus lanes at heavily-utilized areas, so that bus services like 974 could offer the connections that they are designed to have.

Everyone will have their travel ideals. To u it is the shorter the time, the better. To others may not.
And peak hour jams are kinda unavoidable, so no point complaining abt it
Anyways, does anyone think that there would be a new service in bukit panjang area in the near future? Considering the LRT system will be undergoing major revamp.
A new service to link up the missing link to Junction 10 when Ten Mile Junction station close? Hehe jk nia
974 is the first new service in Joo Koon Bus Interchange since the opening in 2015. 🙃

The bus network in Bukit Panjang is already well-established. In fact, Bukit Panjang was an all-bus town before the Downtown Line opened in 2015. The future connections would probably be inter-town rather than within the town as the LRT is staying and LTA has emphasized that buses will never replace the LRT in Bukit Panjang. (Source)
Even you yourself know that the Ten Mile Junction link do not need new bus service to provide when the LRT service is removed at the end of this year, as existing bus services are already serving the Ten Mile Junction development quite well.
The future new routes are about providing long-distance connections across towns, that offer a comparable travel experience to the MRT, so that in case there’s a train service disruption, there’s the bus service to fall back on.
The e-service guide of 974 is out.
https://www.transitlink.com.sg/.........service=974
I was right about the estimated travel time and distance.
The actual estimated travel time is 4mins longer than my projection.
Well, I know the travel time and distance may be long. But in times when the MRT breakdown or open late, this bus service would really allow people to use alternative MRT lines, or take other bus services in Bukit Panjang / Choa Chu Kang to travel across the island.

hahaha... one must be a fool to follow that estimated timing
the transitlink estimated timing is rarely ever realistic and estimates much more time than required
1 full trip of 974 takes only 51 mins
Full SD for sv974. What a joke by LTA.

They are being very cautious with new services these days. launched with SDs and longer frequencies. since no one knows what's the actual demand like.
once demand picks up then add DDs....

Cautious with new services ? Wat abt 12E/147E/7A/B? Really poor planning by LTA
I took 974 this morning from Bukit Panjang. I missed the bus and I waited 20 minutes for the next bus. (I'm not impressed.)
The bus took 15 minutes to travel from Bukit Panjang (Blk 183) to CCK MRT, and 10 minutes from CCK MRT to Jln Bahar Westwood Sec Sch. I didn't travel onwards towards Boon Lay and Joo Koon as I had to catch 199 to NTU. Maybe later today or later this week I will try to take 974 from one end to the other.
Despite the long waiting time, the 974 that I was in was quite empty. Saw a few 974 travelling in the opposite direction and they were quite empty too, maybe because today is the first day and today is a Sunday.
Went to try out 974 from Choa Chu Kang to Pioneer.
Actual travel times are as follows,
Waiting time | 11mins 30sec
Lot One to WWSS | 10:43:72
Lot One to Boon Lay MRT | 18:01:37
Lot One to Pioneer MRT | 21:48:26
*Boon Lay MRT is Blk 662D
Pls note that traffic is smooth today as today is Sunday and not many people go to work today.
Nonetheless, travel time is comparable to MRT. MRT from Pioneer to Choa Chu Kang also take about 25-30mins.
But I must really emphasize, if you are rushing for work on Monday to Friday, pls don’t take 974 as there’s a risk that you may get caught in the jam and end up being late for work.

Technically those are not new services but variants of existing services.
It is useless to argue about the demand of 974 when today is the 1st day and a Sunday. Weekday peak periods are the real test
Maybe it will not be attractive because of the long travelling time due to traffic jams on KJE, who knows? LOL
