This is not the only time that service 969 got Lance 211. Airbus330Captain saw one few days ago. Also, I'm hoping that service 962 and 963 won't get it, that goes to service 859 also, since the sub buses are from AMKDEP. Sadly, ELBO has already invaded into service 963 fleet.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Today, after a fruitful day of bus spotting, I was returning back to Yishun from Woodlands on TIB511 on 965, when I saw........
TIB 1009 C on 969! BOO HOO..![]()

There goes one of my favourite bus service that is no longer chaste from the Lance 211...SOBS....Can only hope it is a rare cameo like the Nissan Diesels on 965. Damn those at Woodlands Depot who decided they were a bit short on buses and requisition the wretched Brit from AMK depot! That really spoils my day.
Now I can only hope that 965 is still free from that Brit bus forever...
Seems that Lances (both 211 and 245) might be perm buses on these 2 services...Originally posted by BluBlur:I have seen both 965 and 969 with the "British" Lance TIB10xx before, on several occasions.
But should be not be permanent buses.
NOoooooo! Lance 245 still okay the engines are quite powerful, but definitely not the Lance 211!Originally posted by off_service:Seems that Lances (both 211 and 245) might be perm buses on these 2 services...![]()

I second your opinion. Nissan Diesels have since taken over some Lance 211 on service 852.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:NOoooooo! Good to see Lance 211s on Sv. 969, imagine if it speeds on the highway faster than the SBST VSOs also plying somewhat the same route.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Today, after a fruitful day of bus spotting, I was returning back to Yishun from Woodlands on TIB511 on 965, when I saw........

It will be left eating the dust or the driver will panic as he see the temperature needle go to red for the 20 or so minutes. Period.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Good to see Lance 211s on Sv. 969, imagine if it speeds on the highway faster than the SBST VSOs also plying somewhat the same route.
Lance 211's engine gets heated up easily. They should be deployed on short services or feeder services so they can rest faster and more frequently. Look at 1004R, you will know what I mean.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:It will be left eating the dust or the driver will panic as he see the temperature needle go to red for the 20 or so minutes. Especially against SBS 9846. Do you know that a MkIII on 86 can outrun a TIBS MB 0405 Volgren on 965, both on max power on TPE?
Yeah, TIB 1014 is ready to follow in its footsteps sooner or later if TIBS don't do anything about it.....Perhaps the EDS and the interior wouldn't be so lucky this time round.Originally posted by off_service:Lance 211's engine gets heated up easily. Don't assume, just because you have a thing against Lance 211s doesn't mean it can't go fast on the highways. We have to try one to know.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:It will be left eating the dust or the driver will panic as he see the temperature needle go to red for the 20 or so minutes. Period.

Lance 211 can go fast, only thing is that engine gets extremely hot.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Don't assume, just because you have a thing against Lance 211s doesn't mean it can't go fast on the highways. We have to try one to know.
Hmm.. don't forget... maintainance are a lil' slow these daysOriginally posted by SBS9818A:I do believe there are checks and electrical wizardry in place to ensure the engine doesn't overheat.
Dont be surprise if the engine explodes while speeding down the expressway. After riding on 1015J last week , I find the bus a horrible and probably the worst bus in Singapore . Even Scania n113 engine doesnt sound so rough and shake so violently then Lance 211 .Originally posted by SBS9818A:Good to see Lance 211s on Sv. 969, imagine if it speeds on the highway faster than the SBST VSOs also plying somewhat the same route.
Remember with all the technological advances these days it is RARE to find an engine exploding.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Dont be surprise if the engine explodes while speeding down the expressway. Explain TIB 1004 please, the driver had plenty of time at junctions to hear the alarm or something if its functioning in the first place. Moreover, the Lentor sector is only a bit of express compared to 15-25 minutes of non-stop speeding on the highwayOriginally posted by SBS9818A:I do believe there are checks and electrical wizardry in place to ensure the engine doesn't overheat.
So far, no. 1 or 2 years back, feeder 903 had DAFs for few months, before reverting back to 0405s.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Lance 211s and 245s do make sporadic, but regular appearances on all the feeders in Yishun already, but I'm not sure about Woodlands
No matter what, the 211s are respectable performers as well. And after taking them for 3 years, I don't think both are far apart on performance.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:NOoooooo! Alot of my relatives, friends and my mum in particular, complains the bus is too hot to bear.Originally posted by BluBlur:No matter what, the 211s are respectable performers as well. And after taking them for 3 years, I don't think both are far apart on performance.
Yes, that is indeed true, BluBlur.Originally posted by BluBlur:No matter what, the 211s are respectable performers as well. And after taking them for 3 years, I don't think both are far apart on performance.
All the areas of the bus, or the last few row/s?Originally posted by off_service:Alot of my relatives, friends and my mum in particular, complains the bus is too hot to bear.
Not sure, maybe the rear?Originally posted by BluBlur:All the areas of the bus, or the last few row/s?
I suspect the aircon ducting isn't well designed for thorough ventilation, or simply the whole thing is weak. This Lance 211 is not the only series to have hot areas, the Scania 113s have this problem too, only it's better because some vents were enlarged.
Severe Parallax Error? Or the airconditioning ducts are originally built according to Malaysian Specs, which means that they do not have that industrial sized standing area, and the pitch is also larger than those we find in the S'pore ones, especially the ones at the back.Originally posted by off_service:Not sure, maybe the rear?
Scania N113 gives hot air, Scania L113 becomes warm after a while. As for Lance 211, the number 1 reason that the rear is hot is the engine. A small hp engine to move a bus with heavy load will tire the engine out. So it becomes hotter and hotter. Another reason might be what you say, the ac unit they used are weak.
All Dennis Lances have their aircon ducts way out compared to the seating arrangements. I wonder why.
