Yes, aircon of Lance 211s are not good, esp towards the rear. I took 1006K at night before, it feels no difference from day time.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yesterday, I boarded Lance 1006K on service 167 from Yishun to Orchard Rd. The driver looked very young, in his late 20 and wearing a sunglass. He treated Sembawang Rd as an expressway and drove as fast as he could. Along Upper Thomson Rd, he overtook a SBST 132 Mk3 and forced the Mk3 driver to give way to him into the bus bay! One bad thing about this bus: The air con is not strong.
Was on TIB 1007H today at around 4.30pm, the aircon was cool and strong, however there was this shrill whine coming from the engine whenever the bus accelerated. Today 1006K is on Sv. 853 I do believe.Originally posted by off_service:Yes, aircon of Lance 211s are not good, esp towards the rear. Typical Lance 211 engine.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Was on TIB 1007H today at around 4.30pm, the aircon was cool and strong, however there was this shrill whine coming from the engine whenever the bus accelerated. Today 1006K is on Sv. 853 I do believe.
I was sitting near the rear, and the air con hole is not directly above the head.Originally posted by off_service:Yes, aircon of Lance 211s are not good, esp towards the rear. I took 1006K at night before, it feels no difference from day time.
That's the speciality of Dennis buses. Even Tridents' aircon outlets are a lil' outta place.Originally posted by tranquilice:I was sitting near the rear, and the air con hole is not directly above the head.
You do mean the bodywork designers do you? They are both by Duple Metsec coincidentally. My theory is that the seats in the Lance 211 were NOT meant to be put so close together, they were meant to match the air-con openings but TIBS like to squeeze more seats into their buses.Originally posted by off_service:That's the speciality of Dennis buses. Anyway TIB 1007H was much much better than the other Sv. 852 bus I took, TIB 715 I think, insipid DAF. It couldn't speed along Lentor Ave.[/b]
Increase the total number of pax by taking out the seats, but more seatings by squeezing in all seats?Originally posted by tranquilice:If Tibs like to add more seats as you mentioned, then why do Tibs took out the seats near the exit for more standing space?
Because standing space is precious, they can dump more passengers into one bus, maximising profit. I still do find TIBS bus seats more cramp than SBST's(only credit I can give SBST)Originally posted by tranquilice:If Tibs like to add more seats as you mentioned, then why do Tibs took out the seats near the exit for more standing space?
Agreed, however the seats on SBST Mk2 WA buses is very cramp.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Because standing space is precious, they can dump more passengers into one bus, maximising profit. I still do find TIBS bus seats more cramp than SBST's(only credit I can give SBST)

Actually I believe the bus companies have such a system in place.Originally posted by Bobster:Shouldn't we have a demerit point system for the reckless bus driver too????
Originally posted by SBS9818A:I disagree with you. I had taken service 852 since January and there are 2 speeding stretches: Lentor and Lornie. MAybe TIB 715 turned out to be a snail that day, but the other DAFs, especially TIB719T and TIB712, are much faster than the LAnce 211s. I guess that the speed limiter buzzer comes on at about 50 kmh, and in the morning and afternoon, the buzzer is on for most of the stretch in the 2 roads. All I can say that is that the DAFs are speedy buses in the hands of the right driver, and its a pity ( or is it Thank Goodness? ) that most of these drivers are driving the DAFs, not the LAnces. For example, TIB 1008 was practically crawling along Lornie yesterday evening at 2nd gear, and no, I did not count the gear wrongly, and by the time it reached the MAcRitchie bus stop, a 165 Strider and 855 MB0405 had already zoomed past it. The Volvo 2-Ax that was in front was also nowhere to be seen. To add to the discomfort, the bus was packed and I was standing
