I take Sv. 156 relatively often and the bus is ONLY packed when people go to school in the morning (6-7am) and return home in the afternoon(3-5pm). And that's on weekdays. On weekends the bus goes express along Bt. Timah Rd due to no passengers. So double-decks would not be feasible on Sv. 156, among other things. Perhaps a new Sv. 156A in the morning could utilize double-decks, it would be from Sengkang to Bt. Timah Rd, passing all the schools.Originally posted by off_service:I had not taken svc 156 for a long time. Well, they always claim it is when people complain abt insufficient buses or need high cap buses.

Yes! Better than deploying buses with a large open space like LAnce 245s and 211sOriginally posted by SBS9810X:I know 851 already has bendys, but I would like some more bendys on the route at peak hours as it is loaded with passengers.
Yes the frequency of svc 156 during non-peak is on average 20 minutes, not the 10-15 they advertise. It is even worse than svc 852Originally posted by off_service:I had not taken svc 156 for a long time. Sv. 156 is a joke, you can wait and wait and wait for 40-odd minutes and TWO Sv. 156 buses come at the same time.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Yes the frequency of svc 156 during non-peak is on average 20 minutes, not the 10-15 they advertise. It is even worse than svc 852

It was partial-aircon in 2001, I clearly remember Alexander-bodied Mk IIs. I agree, ever since Sv. 156 was amended to terminate at Sengkang the frequency is very bad now. I still remember the O405s on Sv. 156, that was 3 years ago.Originally posted by 798:Ya loh! The bus always crowded ever since they changed the interchange from serangoon to sengkang.
I'm be very piss off if sbs convert 156 to partly non-aircon
Talking about the conversion of Partially air-con, there was once Sv 156 was changed to a full air-conditioned service. It was a full Mercedes Benz O.405 fleet. However, b4 the few months of the extension to Sengkang, it started to get some Volvo mk 2 Walter-Alexander as non air-con buses. And during the last 1-2 months, it started to get Mk 2 Walter-Alexander & Duple Metsec Converted Air-con buses for the fleet. After that, the extension was excuted. The fleet was changed to a FULL Volvo Mk 2 Fleet, then a Mk 4 Fleet, which is of the present fleet now.Originally posted by 798:Ya loh! I remember Sv. 156 was converted to full-aircon in 2000, full CAC O405 fleet from AMDEP. Eventually control was pass over to HGDEP in preparation for extension, thus the Mk III and Mk II fleet, and eventually it was extended and now controlled by BBDEP and HGDEP I believe.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Talking about the conversion of Partially air-con, there was once Sv 156 was changed to a full air-conditioned service. Excuse me, since when did 139 ever had Superbuses? The double-decks that had been deployed on 139 are the Alexander L- and R-type Atlanteans, and the 2 axle LOs, as far as I can remember. Honestly 139 can cope very well with single decks. That's why after it had been converted to full a/c, DDs disappear from this service.Originally posted by tranquilice:I would like to see services 100, 145 and 195 using double deckers (provided there's no height restrictions)
Does anyone knows why the Superbuses on service 139 were withdrawn? Is it due to the narrow roads along the way or low passenger load?
Yes, service 139 did use Superbuses before. The LO 3 axles were used for a while before they disappeared from the service. This was the same as service 26. The 96 series VOs appeared on service 26 for a brief moment before they disappeared from the fleet as it became a MB-only fleet.Originally posted by SBS9819Y:Excuse me, since when did 139 ever had Superbuses? If there were, I think that it would be like that Bendy on svc 804 in 1999. MAybe the LOs had too many close shaves to being stuck at Jin Datoh or Jln Rajah. Jln Bahagia and Kim Keat Road is fine, svc 21s have plenty of DDs.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Trial run perhaps. Sv. 139 has to wind through narrow roads at Balestier area and perhaps 3-axle LOs were not suitable. Hao Rui, it is unlikely you wouldn't have seen them.
Hello.Originally posted by forumer:That 'express' bus which goes from Woodlands interchange to Bedok Interchannge. I 4got the number. I understand they have doubledecks but only a few. I really feel they shld have more doubledecks or bendys.
Actually, it was 94XX-series of VO Superbus which were deployed on Service 26.Originally posted by off_service:Yes, service 139 did use Superbuses before. Precisely I [/b]didn't[/b] see them! When exactly is the "brief period" that 139 used Superbuses?Originally posted by SBS9818A:Trial run perhaps. Sv. 139 has to wind through narrow roads at Balestier area and perhaps 3-axle LOs were not suitable. Hao Rui, it is unlikely you wouldn't have seen them.

It also has a full mk3 fleet b4 right? Yes, when it was first extended to Sengkang it was using full MK3 fleet. Now the fleet of service 156 consists on MK2 (DM/WA), MK3, MK4 WA (Strider) and MK4 DM3500.Originally posted by oliver_yuen87:It also has a full mk3 fleet b4 right? When is it changed to mk4 fleet? is it mk4 strider?
I believe that the ridership to Bukit Panjang has dropped significantly after Tibs introduced service 700 and took over service 190. Last time when service 190 was still under SBS, Tibs had to compete. But now, it's under Tibs and it has many Bendy Buses and with service 700, there's no need for service 171 with Bendy Buses.Originally posted by oliver_yuen87:Anyway, it is strange that tibs would deploy bendy buses on 171, but only for trial runs!!
