I feel that Express 502 won't be withdrawn, as the service has a high load between Boon Lay and Orchard, somemore it does not duplicate the MRT line between Boon Lay and Orchard, and is an alternative to service 174 for Jurong West passengers.Originally posted by SBS9818A:The fact they even use cardboard to print the timetables is a definite sign these services are going to be withdrawn sooner-or-later, as they don't want to waste money on metal plates.
However I'd rather take Sv. 174 to Orchard Rd than Sv. 502 as the latter charges fares exorbitantly. It may be converted to a trunk service, however.Originally posted by tranquilice:I feel that Express 502 won't be withdrawn, as the service has a high load between Boon Lay and Orchard, somemore it does not duplicate the MRT line between Boon Lay and Orchard, and is an alternative to service 174 for Jurong West passengers.
I think that Express 502 may be extended to Marina Centre and either terminate at the terminal there or make a loop back to Boon Lay, just like Express 518 making a loop at city area.
As for Express 501, 511 and 512, they face a very high chance of being withdrawn.
As for service 85, the route between Orchard and HarbourFront via Great World City is still needed, I suggested before service 36 could be extended to terminate at HarbourFront if service 85 is withdrawn.
As for AMK int, i don't think is feasible. In this case, it will be running parallel with alot of services from Boundary Road to AMK Int. Also, there are bus services to Orchard, namely service 132 and 162. Most people who will go Boon Lay would prefer to take MRT.Originally posted by PT21:
My view is:
Service 502 ,can be terminate at either AMK int or ST Michael Ter.
What do you think.
Well, most of the time, such timings aren't that accurate. They also depend on the traffic condition, pax load and the speed of the bus.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:I tried kamikaze today, and decided to save some money by taking svc 85 os. Tiong Bahru Plaza instead of NEL. I have only 1 comment after observing my watch and the boards at each bus stop, and my watch is accurate to SBST's time. The timings are highly inaccurate! There is supposed to be a bus arriving at 1241, but the bus came 8 minutes later and continued to be late until another 85 came along USR at Woodleigh and intercepted it. It's quite rare admittedly to have 2 15-miunte interval bus bunching together, even with prominent timings displayed
Yes, I believe the timings are just to pacify the commuters so that they don't get frustrated while waiting for the bus.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:I tried kamikaze today, and decided to save some money by taking svc 85 os. It's possible for Express 502 to be converted to a trunk service, however, the route between Clementi and Orchard has to be diverted so as not to duplicate service 7.Originally posted by SBS9818A:However I'd rather take Sv. 174 to Orchard Rd than Sv. 502 as the latter charges fares exorbitantly. Express 511 is most probably to be withdrawn. I have a feeling SBST may touch Express 518 and integrate it with Express 502.Originally posted by xin1jun2:IMHO:
502 should be integrated with some other express service like 511 and then converted to a trunk service.
(like 521-> 963)

I think SBST will finally withdraw it.Originally posted by off_service:In my opinion, Service 501 should be converted to a peak hour service. The pax during off peaks is pathetic, esp when i see empty double deckers.
Express services should use double deckers during peak hours only.
Service 85 is still needed as a basic bus service. I think they should "downgrade" svc 85 to single deckers, except peak hours or weekends.Originally posted by SBS9816E:I suppose that it's a kinda observation for these services to see if they could keep having them, or to withdraw them. That really have to depend on Passenger load. Somehow I feel that Sv 85 still has the demand on weekend. Therefore i think SBST might keep it as a weekend svc, or whatsoever they would be doing to it.
No there is still quite a lot of people taking the svc 85 during the weekdays, which is actually quite surprising. So, I think that the double-decks should be used since the freq is also quite lousy.Originally posted by off_service:Service 85 is still needed as a basic bus service. Not sure about service 186, but the other mentioned services need dd during peak hours.Originally posted by PT21:Hi,
I agree to that. Service 35 should not have used DD. There are not many people taking it.
Some other service with DD are also less people taking it are
service 91,93,186 and 246. These service which use DD are quite empty. Single deck will do for these service.
The DD for these service should be transfer to those service wich require them more.
Service like 334,243,240,157 should require more DD as the load is very high on weekend and peak hours.
I think SBST anyhow deploy DD on service without looking into the situation.
Svc 186 load is very difficult to predict, sometimes I've seen a bursting LO at the Farrer Rd junction, but sometimes its only the bus and the driverOriginally posted by off_service:Not sure about service 186, but the other mentioned services need dd during peak hours.
