Until now, 21 are dead and 20 seriously or critically injured.
We mourn for those who lost their lives in this accident and pray for those injured.
This would justify why the Singapore Government restrict heavy vehicles and buses to a max speed of 50km/h or 60km/h.Originally posted by tranquilice:In Singapore, service 30 is the most dangerous route.
The service has mostly double deckers and ply along the Benjamin Sheares bridge, which is about 15 to 20 storeys high. The double decker is about 4.495m tall and the edge wall is about 1m tall. Imagine a heavy vehicle crashed into the bus from behind, the large force may cause the bus to lost control and eventually crashs down the bridge, unless the wall is strong enough to stop the bus.
Also noticed that there's a bend at the highest point and the buses usually travel on the left-most lane.
The speed limit would prevent the bus from reaching critical velocity and hence, cause the bus to lose control and move in a tangential path that causes it to crash through the railing and into the bay below ( remember the time where CI loved to crash new B744s into HK Kai Tak ) The bus may not explode on impact, but will sink very rapidly ( Dun want to give the actual proof, but can if u want )Originally posted by tranquilice:In Singapore, service 30 is the most dangerous route.

Yes, that CI B744 was classic. He landed too far down Runway 13, couldn't stop in time and plunged into Hung Hom Bay(furthermore it was raining!)Originally posted by TIB1186Z:The speed limit would prevent the bus from reaching critical velocity and hence, cause the bus to lose control and move in a tangential path that causes it to crash through the railing and into the bay below ( remember the time where CI loved to crash new B744s into HK Kai Tak ) The bus may not explode on impact, but will sink very rapidly ( Dun want to give the actual proof, but can if u want )
If the DD is travelling in the left most lane and the truck hits it, the probability of it flying out and into the sea is damn low. This is because the centripetal force holding the bus to the center is at its highest, and this coupled with the inertia of the bus,and if its travelling fast enough, will not go into a tangential path ( ie into the sea ). Rather, the bus will tip over and fall onto the highway, causing a series of accidents and blocking the road, as the equilibrum of the bus is least stable cos it is tilted at an angle while turning to provide the rather large horizontal component that is required to bring it through the turn.
Its not a game, but a fact that CI loved to crash new B744s into the water. Their safety and fingerpointing record is so outstanding that it requires no explanation or doubt whatsoever.Originally posted by oliver_yuen87:What game?? Microsoft flight simulator? i crash 747 into WTC, then reply from far.. MUHAHAHA...
anyway, i think S'pore Govt. has our safety in mind, so don't worry. i think the bishan MRT is more dangerous.. *osama's bombs
