I prefer to see trunk service rather than Express service. Is Express 522 a Tibs service?Originally posted by off_service:Hope that Tibs can start a new service utilizing a new service using expressway (PIE) to Airport.
But noted by some others, the idea will mostly be rejected by SMRT as it is direct competition to MRT.
The idea came up as it reflects the withdrawal of service 950 in 1996 but replaced with the new 960.
Express 522: Bishan Int to Changi Airport via Toa Payoh/Jln Toa Payoh
Currently there's no services (Tibs or SBST) numbered as 522.Originally posted by tranquilice:I prefer to see trunk service rather than Express service. Is Express 522 a Tibs service?
I wouldn't mind Toa Payoh Int as well. This would be competition with Sv. 53 which is primaily a Hougang/Serangoon feeder service from Bishan. Anyone with common sense would take the new service to the airport which would be much faster, than the pain-in-the-butt Sv. 53.Originally posted by off_service:Hope that Tibs can start a new service utilizing a new service using expressway (PIE) to Airport.

Do you have any rego nums? Are all of them from KJDEP or are there some O405's from AMKDEP? Any bendies?Originally posted by Rachel_Lim:I took Service 985 todayHino Volgrens and former Service 989 buses were on the service.
One look at a Sv. 985 bus today already makes my blood boil for obvious reasons. Will get on it ONLY for the experience of taking a Hino on the highway. Yes, many Sv. 989 buses will have gone to Sv. 985, how about the Sv. 185 DAFs?Originally posted by Rachel_Lim:I took Service 985 todayHino Volgrens and former Service 989 buses were on the service.
I do not expect any bendy buses on service 985.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Do you have any rego nums? Are all of them from KJDEP or are there some O405's from AMKDEP? Any bendies?
Yes, the route doesn't seem to be able to support O405Gs.Originally posted by tranquilice:I do not expect any bendy buses on service 985.
Coolz. What time of the day did u observe this? Morning peak?Originally posted by tranquilice:I took service 985 on Monday. My findings: Average numbers of passengers between Choa Chu Kang and Bt Batok East, less than average up to Jln Jurong Kechil, less than 10 up to Jln Toa Payoh, only 1 or 2 between Bendemeer and Kallang Bahru. After Kallang Bahru, some passengers boarded to get to Kallang MRT.
This monday (28 July), I boarded the bus at around 5pm, at Bt Batok Ctrl, took me 40 minutes to reach Lor 1 Geylang terminal.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Coolz. What time of the day did u observe this? Morning peak?
I have long expected it not to have any bendy buses deployed on the route, because of the exit it used from Geylang Lor 1 bus terminal. As for the regos... I saw TIB948Z, some former Service 989 buses like TIB804E, TIB539X, TIB537B, TIB600B...Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Do you have any rego nums? Yes, there are 2 exits at Lor 1 Geylang terminal. One is used by service 980 while the other is used by services 11, 853, 961 and 985. The latter exit with the junction of Lor 1 Geylang is too narrow for a bendy bus, while the one which service 980 uses has no problem with bendy buses.Originally posted by Rachel_Lim:I have long expected it not to have any bendy buses deployed on the route, because of the exit it used from Geylang Lor 1 bus terminal. odd i saw TIB600 do 106 the toher night.Originally posted by Rachel_Lim:I have long expected it not to have any bendy buses deployed on the route, because of the exit it used from Geylang Lor 1 bus terminal. Some 6xx O405s are now with KJDEP. They have been transferred from AMKDEP.Originally posted by xin1jun2:odd i saw TIB600 do 106 the toher night.
anyhow i saw many bendys parked at geylang lor 1 on sunday july 27. i speculated that they were for bus 985, since they can not be that many bendy habits on 980 at the terminal at one time.
i saw about7 habits parked all over the place.
could be that after trying habits for one day, they decided to remove them from bus 985 becoz of low demand
i suggest a general boycott of bus 985 (beyond bt timah.to Kallang mRT)

The service 185 DAFs have mainly gone to my beloved service. For example, TIB720M and TIB698 with that LOUSY Voith appeared on svc 852 for the past few days, replacing favourites like my TIB719T.Originally posted by SBS9818A:One look at a Sv. 985 bus today already makes my blood boil for obvious reasons. Complain for what? Still better than your most-hated 1014L right? Will camp for it one day, got its timings, 1610 hrs os Whitley. Unless you can tell me the time for it to go to Bukit Batok and back to Yishun and down again, so I can camp earlier?Originally posted by TIB1186Z:The service 185 DAFs have mainly gone to my beloved service. No, I don't think these 7 bendy are for service 985, I believe they are service 980 bendy.Originally posted by xin1jun2:odd i saw TIB600 do 106 the toher night.

Since Sv. 985 follows the route of Sv. 961 and Sv. 853 into and out of Geylang Lor 1 terminal, it is not possible for O405Gs unless they turn out like Sv. 980, and make a u-turn after the bus "park".Originally posted by tranquilice:No, I don't think these 7 bendy are for service 985, I believe they are service 980 bendy.
How could Tibs deployed bendy on service 985 if the bendy cannot make its way out of the exit in Lor 1 Geylang terminal?
But this will not be possible, as the load on service 985 is not enough for a bendy.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Since Sv. 985 follows the route of Sv. 961 and Sv. 853 into and out of Geylang Lor 1 terminal, it is not possible for O405Gs unless they turn out like Sv. 980, and make a u-turn after the bus "park".
Yes, forgot to mention how pathetic the loads for Sv. 985 are, I was watching the buses go by Jln TPY on Sat, and passenger load is miserable, with only 2 or 3 passengers inside the bus. With Sv. 989 at least seating-wise it would be full.Originally posted by tranquilice:But this will not be possible, as the load on service 985 is not enough for a bendy.
Service 989 went to Changi Airport, at least it still meets some passenger demands.
