The Volgren Hino buses have the SAME interior as the O405s, so you might as well just take a photo of the Hino.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:I need photographs of the INTERIOR of TIBS's Volgren O405 12m buses.. anyone who happen to have any such pics, can send a (digitised) copy to me?
There are only 15 Volgren O405's so it is quite time consuming for me to wait for one to board to snap pics.
I need Volgren O405 interior pics, not those of Volgren Hino or Volgren Lances.
Thanx in advance.
I know, but I stay in Yishun and hence have even less access to a Volgren Hino. Plus there will sure be differences e.g. difference in ceiling panel lengths etc although generally the interior design is the same.Originally posted by SBS9818A:The Volgren Hino buses have the SAME interior as the O405s, so you might as well just take a photo of the Hino.
Yo there WindyOriginally posted by Windy_hates_B10TLs:Howdy there!
For a start, I don't know why you all hate Dennis Lances so much. They are a very suitable bus, with a beautiful turbo whistle, and minimal turbo lag, as opposed to buses like the Volvo B7R/B7L/B7RLE, the B10TL/Super Olympian, and the Scania L94UB (with a full seated load, and from a standing start). he primary reason for these units to overheat, as told by a mechanic I know from TIBS is the fact that these buses are GOVERNED to the ridiculously slow speed of 60km/h. As one would know, restricting the potential of a powerful engine to a low speed, and a low gear means the engine and gearbox is under extreme stress. As a result, all Dennis Lances have gone through one engine reconditioning, and at least one gearbox change. A severe case is in the case of TIB912B, a Lance 245, which has had a new engine put in about 7 months ago, and has gone through two gearboxes. So, for those Lance haters out there, do not blame TIBS for poor maintenance, or Dennis for manufacturing a poor quality bus, but blame the Singapore Government and the LTC for implementing a very dangerous and stupid rule.
Now, in reply to your question, I do have a photo of an interior of a Volgren bodied O.405....one of a unit from Sydney, Australia, and another from TIB959S. 959 can be found on the route 969 from Tampines to Woodlands, so go hunting around. Also, try 171, or 960.
Thanx a zillion for helping me scan the pics, Windy.Originally posted by Windy_hates_B10TLs:AntiDennisLance,
Suspension wise the Lances are about as taut as an M.A.N, but at least all the bumps in the road aren't felt in the cabin like a B10M. Although none of the B10Ms are going fast enough for you to know what I mean (either because they are too gutless, or because they just don't reach such a speed to do so), I'm sure you will understand where I am coming from. I will try to get the pic of 959's interior scanned, but it may take a while.
Re the lack of seats, blame TIBS, especially for removing seats for standing room in a number of buses....at least the UD's haven't been touched. Also, I think you will find that the Malaysian bodied Lances seem restricted in their seatig only because of the longitudinal seats at the front. I believe they are 49 seaters, which isn't far from that of an O.405.
CSS310U and the PA-registered Lances (both 245s and 211s) do not have the extra standee. Some PA-registered Lance 245s (an eg is PA639) actually have conventional emergency exits instead of emergency windows!Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Thanx a zillion for helping me scan the pics, Windy.
I guess the Volvo B10's simply cannot go fast enough to test the suspension. Or did they. One of the B10M's on 151 I took went over the speedhumps at NUS and everytime it hit a hump the suspension hit rock bottom - the tyres directly hit and scraped the inside surface of the wheel wells. Totally hard landing which almost caused my butt to have piles.
The Lances are 41 seaters... there are currently 35 seats on each of the buses with either 4 or 6 seats removed (cant judge correctly from that space that is supposed to have seats)... so they are either 39 or 41 seaters.
Actually if TIBS left those seats there it would help a lot since less people will be standing and feeling the wrath of the suspension.
Yes, CSS doesn't seem to care about the standing room. Yes, several PA-registered Lance 245s have emergency door, looks quite odd. Wonder why TIBS didn't bother refurbishing them.Originally posted by SBS9819Y:CSS310U and the PA-registered Lances (both 245s and 211s) do not have the extra standee. CSS's load is usually not high enough for them to trigger the action to remove some seats in order to squeeze in more people. The space can only hold the same number of standing passengers as seating passengers anyway.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, CSS doesn't seem to care about the standing room. Hey, I feel that the Volvo B10M are pretty powerful buses. There was once I had a chance to board a B10M Mk 2 on Express 502, and the power to speed was there, making it to run at full throttle!Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Yo there Windy
I dont actually hate the Dennis Lances for their engine or heat or whatever. I hate them simply because those buses have only a handful of seats and I almost tipped over when I was a standee on those non-suspension buses. Those buses have non-existent or non-effective suspension systems. I hate it when they put it into high load services and when I am forced to be a standee on those things.
Apart from that Dennis Lances are actually quite pleasant buses on super low-load services like 825 or 103. When I have lots of legroom and when I can choose my seat, that is. Hey we all pay the same fare dont we? So we should demand the most comfortable ride no matter which service we take. 50% load factor is the best load factor for any bus anytime if you ask me - if means that every single passenger can have a seat.
You have an interior pic of TIB959S? Can I have it? My email is at [email protected]. I know that TIB 959S, 960L, 961J and 962G work around Yishun but I cannot afford to wait for them specifically.
Actually I quite dislike the Volvo B10's as well, simply for the fact that the engine is placed in the middle of the bus and that they accelerate like tortoises. Feel very underpowered when I board them.
I agree. Volvo B10Ms is not necessarily always slow. Try taking MK2s at night or MK4 Strider/DM3500 on sv 168 at night. You can see that it's fast too.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Hey, I feel that the Volvo B10M are pretty powerful buses. Volvo Buses can be quite a good speeders, however when in comparison of a Mercedes Benz, Mercedes Benz would stand a great chance in a race, as what you might have said 'the fact that the engine is placed in the middle of the bus and that they accelerate like tortoises'. Nonetheless, each type of bus has its own pros and cons.
No, there are many privately-registered buses without emergency door. I suppose TIBS didn't bother refurbishing the buses.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:CSS's load is usually not high enough for them to trigger the action to remove some seats in order to squeeze in more people. I think it might be an LTA requirement for all privately registered buses to have emergency exits. That is just a wild guess. Or the bodyworks already came built with the doors so they just left them as they are.
