Comments on interior refurbishment on SBST buses

And look at the amount of GREEN in TIBS buses.......the floor is green, side panels are green a/c panels are green and the seats are green....I know green is friendly to the eyes, but i still prefer the Habits with the soft blue panels that also looks more appealing and the important bars and grips are appropriately highlighted orange...IMO I think that interior is the nicest among all the public buses in SingaporeOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Unrefurbished bus never mind. I guess it is a personal taste thing lah. Initially the all GREEN theme was a refreshing change from TIB's traditional egg-white yellow theme of all the jap buses. But it turned out that the green was only suitable on the boxy MB's because it can get real unsightly if not properly cleaned like in the DAF's and Scania's (terrible). Actually at first I thought the Habit interior looked like some brightly furbished public washroom especially with the deodorant which smelled like some toilet deodorant in those colours. The light blue really looked like a wall colour in some toilet in east coast park or some other public park (cant remember which one) combined with the bright orange cubicle door frames. But now used to it liao and quite grew to like it. -
I don't mind the interior, ugly or nice, flooring smooth or rough, new or old, as long the air con are just cold enough during hot and humid day and just nice(not too cold or warm)during the rainy season. This is my view. Not to complain so much. SBST want to change the interior, they just go ahead, they are too free to change these thing rather than improve on their frequently on certain services. -
Yah, they got too much money to do things other than improving frequency and buying newer buses to enhance passenger comfort. My favourite interior still is the Volgren-bodied O405Gs.Originally posted by PT21:

I still like the older Habits with the softer seat cushions.
I agree that the a/c is what that matters......the least appealing UDs can at least cool the interior a lot, unlike those wif modern interior like the LAnce 211 that the a/c often fail to work... -

Yeah, I agree. The Hino Volgrens have special one-of-a-kind seats, they are the only buses with these seats. As far as I remember, the only TIBS MB405 Bus which had such seats was TIB 505 T. Sadly, after the refurbishment of seats in TIBS Buses, TIB 505 T no longer sports such a unique interior anymore, but the usual, green coloured pattern seats in every TIBS Bus. The Hino Volgren's comfort level, I have to agree, is one of the best: Cool, yet quiet air-cons, peaceful engines(listen to 927 as it cruises the KJE to the zoo), and stylish, black doors with both a nice interior and exterior.
By the way, I saw a Scania L113 ELBO leaving Yishun Interchange, it was on Service 857. Really rare, TIBS usually puts Scania L113's on this route at the most, but it's the first time I have seen an ELBO on this route.

That bus is TIB847G. It is NOT a cameo. It has been there for at least one week already. It is a perm bus on 857 now. It replaced one MB O405, not sure which one. If you want to catch it, it is on the 9am trip out of Yishun for this week's schedule. TIB847G became perm on svc 857 last Friday, and had interestingly, took up the "Scania" slot of 857 in the 2nd term of the yr. It departs Yishun at abt 0645.
The interior is not that dusty, some of the Bendys have absolutely filthy a/c ducts and air cleaners. However, it is a pity that the Scania L113s resonate a lot while idle, but fortunately, the frequency response is very small, and the ride is very smooth once the bus moves. -
Yes, i fondly remember TIB505T based at AMKDEP if im not wrong. When 954 appeared on svc 852 one afternoon last term instead of the Lance 211, many regular pax ( students mainly ) were rather thrilled by it, the reason is that the engine emits minimal heat unlike the C211 engine, and it is a refreshing break for the ears as it is much smoother, quieter with significantly less vibration than the Lances. The only fault that i can find is that it is not damped enough...there is still a bit of light oscillation when the bus goes over the bumps. -
Dusty enough to give me a very bad sinus and weepy eyes for the next two days after boarding it. All A/C's and filters of all buses regardless of manufacturer accumulates and throw out the same amount of dust. It is a matter of proper maintenance. Some of the bendys have more filth and some of the filters on the older ones are really yucky, at least the Scania and DAF filters are cleaner......Lances and CACs have cleaner filters becuse they are much easier to remove and clean than the rest, but i seriously dun consider LAnces luxurious apart from the 3seats in front of the rear exit, but it seems that you had changed ur mind and consider LAnces luxurious becayse of their relative cleanilessOriginally posted by AntiDennisLance:Dusty enough to give me a very bad sinus and weepy eyes for the next two days after boarding it. I wouldn't. Too bad if you don't like them. If I feel comfortable enough along Lentor Ave and Lornie Rd it should be good enough along the CTE. Interior Refurbishment:
What matters most is the general acceptance from the majority. As from the past comments, I conclude that many pax are happy with the design and interior refurbishment of mid-life SBST buses. Hence, SBST has my support for the refurbishment too.
At least the refurbished buses have much less condensation drips from the ceiling A/C nowadays...

Pathetic ? We have a different view of the word " Pathetic ".
Riding on the Lance 211 especially sitting at a rear is very hot !! . The faster it goes , the hotter the rear is and the air con at the rear is one of thw worst i ever seen . How some people can tahan the sitting at the back for long journeys I really wonder. Same goes to Scania OAC ,the bus is shakey never mind if the air con is cold , I wouldnt be complaining so much about the bus , you know it . Why do I dislike the bus ? Mainly because its too shakey and often I get headache riding on long journeys . Volvo buses pathetic ? At least they are more comfortable , better air con then the ones that the bus that i just mention .

I dont like SBS refublished buses , i find them "boring" . I hope they do not do the same thing to the mark 4s and the first generation VOs . -
One more thing , To each and his own . Please respect each other views . Of coarse i respect those that loves Scanias . Lance 211 or whatever .
