And look at the amount of GREEN in TIBS buses.......the floor is green, side panels are green a/c panels are green and the seats are green....I know green is friendly to the eyes, but i still prefer the Habits with the soft blue panels that also looks more appealing and the important bars and grips are appropriately highlighted orange...IMO I think that interior is the nicest among all the public buses in SingaporeOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Unrefurbished bus never mind. Air con not cold on a HOT sunny day when one is sweating like mad, that is something worth making noise about. Interior is indeed ugly, TIBS interiors are much nicer-decorated IMO. Just look at the amount of PURPLE/RED in refurbished SBST buses.
I guess it is a personal taste thing lah. Initially the all GREEN theme was a refreshing change from TIB's traditional egg-white yellow theme of all the jap buses. But it turned out that the green was only suitable on the boxy MB's because it can get real unsightly if not properly cleaned like in the DAF's and Scania's (terrible). So they experimented with the blue-orange theme of the Habits and the white with the 21 Volgren Citaro G's and 2 Lance 245's.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:And look at the amount of GREEN in TIBS buses.......the floor is green, side panels are green a/c panels are green and the seats are green....I know green is friendly to the eyes, but i still prefer the Habits with the soft blue panels that also looks more appealing and the important bars and grips are appropriately highlighted orange...IMO I think that interior is the nicest among all the public buses in Singapore
Yah, they got too much money to do things other than improving frequency and buying newer buses to enhance passenger comfort. My favourite interior still is the Volgren-bodied O405Gs.Originally posted by PT21:
I don't mind the interior, ugly or nice, flooring smooth or rough, new or old, as long the air con are just cold enough during hot and humid day and just nice(not too cold or warm)during the rainy season. This is my view. Not to complain so much. SBST want to change the interior, they just go ahead, they are too free to change these thing rather than improve on their frequently on certain services.
I prefer Volgren Hinos....at least they dun have LAnce 211 type seats that can cause ur butt to burn after 1 hour....Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yah, they got too much money to do things other than improving frequency and buying newer buses to enhance passenger comfort. I saw one unrefurbished Mk3 on service 16 last saturday, forgot the last digit, it's 85x.Originally posted by Superbus:Honestly speaking, I'd rather see it refurbished. The old carpet-like aircon bins is so-so lousy. At least the aircon is better with the new bins. However, if u wish to sit on an unrefurbished Mark 3, fret not. Hop on Service 18 or 31. There's one left. I think it's SBS857.
Cheers and warm regards
This is one of the few times Tibs deployed Scania L113 ELBO on service 857. I believe this happens only when they are short of buses.Originally posted by mercedes_hispano:By the way, I saw a Scania L113 ELBO leaving Yishun Interchange, it was on Service 857. That bus is TIB847G. It is NOT a cameo. It has been there for at least one week already. It is a perm bus on 857 now. It replaced one MB O405, not sure which one. If you want to catch it, it is on the 9am trip out of Yishun for this week's schedule. The interior is very dusty and allergenic though.Originally posted by off_service:This is one of the few times Tibs deployed Scania L113 ELBO on service 857. If svc 857 is a purely AMKDEP service, this ELBO would be a Dennis Lance 211/245. Thank goodness it's not a Lance 211!!~Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:That bus is TIB847G. It is NOT a cameo. Actually, it is like 2 weeks already...for the early part it is a cameo operating split shift in the morning only; the afternoon is operated by a WA Scania L113.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:That bus is TIB847G. Yes, i fondly remember TIB505T based at AMKDEP if im not wrong. It was and i think it is still perm on svc 855, and is one of my favourite 0405s, and it kenna converted late last yr to the normal seats.....Hope TIBS doesnt does that to the Hinos!Originally posted by mercedes_hispano:Yeah, I agree. The Hino Volgrens have special one-of-a-kind seats, they are the only buses with these seats. As far as I remember, the only TIBS MB405 Bus which had such seats was TIB 505 T. Sadly, after the refurbishment of seats in TIBS Buses, TIB 505 T no longer sports such a unique interior anymore, but the usual, green coloured pattern seats in every TIBS Bus. The Hino Volgren's comfort level, I have to agree, is one of the best: Cool, yet quiet air-cons, peaceful engines(listen to 927 as it cruises the KJE to the zoo), and stylish, black doors with both a nice interior and exterior.

Dusty enough to give me a very bad sinus and weepy eyes for the next two days after boarding it. All A/C's and filters of all buses regardless of manufacturer accumulates and throw out the same amount of dust. It is a matter of proper maintenance. Obviously TIBS do not pay enough maintenance attention to older or less "luxurious" buses like the Scania's or DAF's.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:The interior is not that dusty, some of the Bendys have absolutely filthy a/c ducts and air cleaners. However, it is a pity that the Scania L113s resonate a lot while idle, but fortunately, the frequency response is very small, and the ride is very smooth once the bus moves.
That bad? 847G is more-or-less perm on Sv. 857 although a Lance 211/245 would be much nicer to ride on.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Dusty enough to give me a very bad sinus and weepy eyes for the next two days after boarding it. Some of the bendys have more filth and some of the filters on the older ones are really yucky, at least the Scania and DAF filters are cleaner......Lances and CACs have cleaner filters becuse they are much easier to remove and clean than the rest, but i seriously dun consider LAnces luxurious apart from the 3seats in front of the rear exit, but it seems that you had changed ur mind and consider LAnces luxurious becayse of their relative cleanilessOriginally posted by AntiDennisLance:Dusty enough to give me a very bad sinus and weepy eyes for the next two days after boarding it. Please...pax would get butt ache+back and butt sore + headache after riding the lance 211 on the CTE..just imagine the comfort level as the bus jerks it ways through the route during peak hour!Originally posted by SBS9818A:That bad? 847G is more-or-less perm on Sv. 857 although a Lance 211/245 would be much nicer to ride on.
Heh heh... yeah. Riding on TIB1012S on service 520 would have given a very similarly annoying experience.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Please...pax would get butt ache+back and butt sore + headache after riding the lance 211 on the CTE..just imagine the comfort level as the bus jerks it ways through the route during peak hour!
I wouldn't. Too bad if you don't like them. If I feel comfortable enough along Lentor Ave and Lornie Rd it should be good enough along the CTE. At least it can accelerate faster than pathetic B10TLs.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Please...pax would get butt ache+back and butt sore + headache after riding the lance 211 on the CTE..just imagine the comfort level as the bus jerks it ways through the route during peak hour!

I beg to differ. The WA O405s have some leakages problem, particularly during a rainstorm. Piang eh.. you know what I'm gonna say rite?Originally posted by SBS3688Y:Interior Refurbishment:
What matters most is the general acceptance from the majority. As from the past comments, I conclude that many pax are happy with the design and interior refurbishment of mid-life SBST buses. Hence, SBST has my support for the refurbishment too.
At least the refurbished buses have much less condensation drips from the ceiling A/C nowadays...

Yes, Alexander O405s seem to have leakage problems especially during rainy days.Originally posted by Superbus:I beg to differ. The WA O405s have some leakages problem, particularly during a rainstorm. Piang eh.. you know what I'm gonna say rite?
Just saw an unrefurbished Mk III on Sv.16, SBS852J.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Oh, that kind. There is an unrefurbished Mk III on Sv. 165, it's SBS 8xx, saw it just now but forgot to note down it's rego.
