What if also cant open?Originally posted by BearBear®:still got 2 doors on the left mah.....
Not all buses have emergency exit doors. The new generations of superbuses and all bendy buses (plus other model of buses) do not have any emergency exit doors, when in emergency, passengers are to break the glass windows with the hammers provided or use any hard objects.Originally posted by KrU:My 1st post here... just wondering how come the bus has only 1 emergency door at the right... what if the bus falls on the right how to escape??

If the bus fell to the right, then exit via the front or rear windscreen by breaking the glass, it's quite difficult to get out from the left side in this situation, as the left side become the "roof" of the bus.
However in the case of double deckers, if the stairway is obstructed in an accident, I wonder how the upper deck passengers escape. Wait for rescue or just jump down? What if there is a fire on the upper deck and stairway is obstructed?Originally posted by KrU:Oya hor... icic...![]()
Jump down should be ok... at most broken hand or leg...Originally posted by tranquilice:However in the case of double deckers, if the stairway is obstructed in an accident, I wonder how the upper deck passengers escape. Maybe...Originally posted by the Bear:burn to death?
But it can happened that a person jumped down from the upper deck, before he can get up, the bus fall on him and crushed him to death.Originally posted by KrU:Jump down should be ok... at most broken hand or leg...

Jump. The most one could suffer is a broken arm or leg, small considering your life is still intact.Originally posted by tranquilice:However in the case of double deckers, if the stairway is obstructed in an accident, I wonder how the upper deck passengers escape. I was thinking all the windows are manufactured similarly. The material used could vary, though.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:rgd the newer buses with breakable emergency exit windows:
Some windows are not labelled with the word Emergency Exit, although there is a hammer next to it...I wonder if the Emergency Exit glass panel is manufactured differently from the rest...coz during an emergency, passengers will panick and if they hit the wrong window and it doesn't break, it could be very disesterous..
It should be the same. Though there aren't stickers on all windows, I don't think that implies that the other windows are not meant for emergency exits. The materials used for the windows should also be the same.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:rgd the newer buses with breakable emergency exit windows:

you should be able to jump from the second deck with no injuries at all. It's actually quite a short drop of only 2.8 meters, less if you hang off the edge before letting go.
I think its true...Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:Hmmm... you must play TombRaider a lot and an avid Lara Croft fan in order to have that idea come to you so spontaneously.

Hi all,
Regarding the Emergency Exit windows on the newer buses, I enquired about this to TIBS and they have since replied. Following is the excerpts:-
Dear Mr XXX
Thanks for your email message. We wish to take this opportunity to assure you that all the windows are breakable and can be used as emergency exits. The emergency hammers are placed at different locations for easy access.
Have a nice day.

ChemistryOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Mr 1186Z, I don't think you need to show off your Chemistry skills from our "shared" Chemistry teacher!
Yes, I half-expected all the windows to be breakable in case of emergency. It just isn't logical to mount the hammers on every pillar.
I dun think i am showing off......just that using scientific explanations is the best and foolproof way to comment on something without anyone doubting it.Originally posted by Superbus:ChemistryI thought what he said involves the principles of Physics.

Somehow your explaination is rather hard for people who don't study A Level sciences to understand. Hope to hear them, if possible, in layman terms.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:I dun think i am showing off......just that using scientific explanations is the best and foolproof way to comment on something without anyone doubting it.
BTW send my regards to her....
Superbus is correct.....all that i had said came straight out of my lecture notes on a Physics option topic called Deformation of materials.....at A level the boundary between Physics and Chemistry is very fuzzy.....![]()
