Thats why SBST has that bright yellow sticker with an exclamation mark on the left wing mirror, after pax complained that buses stopped too far from the kerb and SBST had the drivers to park the bus as close as possible to the kerb.......But pax must realise that with a problem solved comes another, where there is a much increased probability of pax kenna stuck on the head by the mirror, and it is definitely not feasible to replace the mirror with cameras for very obvious reasons.Originally posted by spyder:luckily shes ok... sometimes, elderly people are a bit 'kan cheong' leh, bus coming into the bus stop, they will push and shove so they become the first to go up... quite dangerous at times, somemore people who are tall also be careful, i have seen buses coming into the bus stop and the mirror on the left side of the bus nearly hitting people if the bus comes too near the kerb... safety first...

u live near that area?Originally posted by hoganrock:It happened just now. I was on Bus 315 and it drove towards Serangoon Garden bustop and there is a sbs bus in front of my bus. I was sitting near the first left hand seat of the rear exit door(near the window) and I have a full view of the bus stop scenario in front of me. Suddenly I saw an old granny tripped at the edge of the curb and fell in front of the first bus and hit her head. I was in the second bus. Then the Matrix begins and all the people near the incident were shocked and couldn't move for 10secs. Luckily few people picked her up and let her rest in the bench and she's ok now.....what a relief!!!!![]()
Yes, not suprisingly old folks tend to want to be the first to get on the bus because if there are few empty seats they will be able to get into one of them!Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Thats why SBST has that bright yellow sticker with an exclamation mark on the left wing mirror, after pax complained that buses stopped too far from the kerb and SBST had the drivers to park the bus as close as possible to the kerb.......But pax must realise that with a problem solved comes another, where there is a much increased probability of pax kenna stuck on the head by the mirror, and it is definitely not feasible to replace the mirror with cameras for very obvious reasons.
I agree that the older generation and the aunties may resort to pushing and shoving to board the bus first.....those pple thot they have the right of way because of their age..Absolutely WRONG!
At some bus stop such as the Yishun Ctrl stops, i have to sometimes apply " Newton's 3rd law of motion " to prevent myself from stepping into the bus's path with the old aunties and uncles shoving with surprising force, but i often try and successfully guess the door's position or sidestep them to avoid this kind of hazardous conditions. Moreover, they give the younger generation a sharp glare when defensive countermeasures for safety have to be applied.......they forgot that the famous law applies to all bodies regardless of age, wrinkles, vulgarities and white hair.
This also brings me to the point that there are particularly nasty old men who despise students a lot probably because theya re deprived of it or did not have a pleasant schooloing experience or just plain jealously as their grandson/daughter could not advance so far......Svc 852 is famous for that, on the 0637 departure, there is always a black face old man carrying a brown bag that's not big at all and he always occupy both the seats , and place his bag on one......once, he was behimd me and tried to get the sole remaining seat on the bus ( he was late that day for queuing up ) and naturally, with a 52 minute journey ahead in a LAnce 211, i was also eyeing for it, and i was faster in response and got the seat, and he gave me such a damn hard stare before trotting to the standing area. FYI, I don't really care a hoot abt graciousness and giving up seats...i believe in the early bird catching the worm.
However, it was observed that he would give up the seat his bag was sitting on to fellow old man , naturally.
Not only old folks. When you are waiting for service 852 at Bt Batok Interchange, students in school uniforms won't give a damn and will just board the bus, regardless of the queue length. So much for the education these days, the students are getting ruder and have no sense of shame.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Thats why SBST has that bright yellow sticker with an exclamation mark on the left wing mirror, after pax complained that buses stopped too far from the kerb and SBST had the drivers to park the bus as close as possible to the kerb.......But pax must realise that with a problem solved comes another, where there is a much increased probability of pax kenna stuck on the head by the mirror, and it is definitely not feasible to replace the mirror with cameras for very obvious reasons.

Not only that; esp these dirty old men, they always like to spit inside the buses!!!! How unhygienic it is, and the SARS scare in Spore made me even the more detest such people! When can Spore become a more gracious society??Originally posted by TIB1186Z:This also brings me to the point that there are particularly nasty old men who despise students a lot probably because theya re deprived of it or did not have a pleasant schooloing experience or just plain jealously as their grandson/daughter could not advance so far......
Yes. OK I must admit I'm guilty of doing this at times.Originally posted by off_service:Not only old folks. True, but most of the time they use it to their advantage and rush on board as soon as the bus pulls into the boarding bay.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Haiz.. there's a Chinese saying goes, "Jing Lao Zun Xian", meaning respect the elderly. True, but it CAN be very irritating when one had been waiting there for like 30 minutes and then one auntie rush up from the side and board it before you......or the classic scenario ( I declare i have no racist intention but... ) where one middle aged tudung lady jump into the head of the queue , make an apologizing smile and when you though there is only one, there comes a group of 5-6 people, resplendent with crying babies, talkative men and only 1baby among them......and this happened to me a few times at Tampines when I purposely wait for that Volgren Bendy at the head of the queue and they , damn it, always take the 2 only BUsiness class seats in the bus...Originally posted by SBS9816E:Haiz.. there's a Chinese saying goes, "Jing Lao Zun Xian", meaning respect the elderly. I dun do that at interchanges.......but i'm guilty of doing that outside my school bus stop and sometimes the next bus stop cos i'm so tired and the pax are all school students.....TCH, NYGS, HCJC, RVHS etc..Originally posted by off_service:Not only old folks. I have since learnt to rely on speed to board it ahead of them, and since there are often Chinese couple with babies dutifully queueing up, i see no reason why a big group og 6 with only one noisy baby should cut..the ratio does not make sense. So, when they, esp the tudung lady make that unapproving clicking sound that i hate so much, i only tell them to queue like the rest. This is one instance when I will NEVER give up and let them board first, cos i see no logic behind it, but of course, when im not in my school uniform, and i dun want to risk kenna spotted by teachers or the "School Photographer" as much as possible.
When there is an old couple like say waiting at the berth, i will allow them to board, but when one whole clan take advantage of a minor or senior, then that is a no-no......i dun see why a whole clan is needed to take care of a baby when one or two can do the job, the rest can queue like the rest.
Sometimes you really have to FORCE your way up otherwise you will have to wait for the next bus. I agree about that activity, it is not good. I see parents with young children queueing up for Sv. 969, but I don't think they are exempted from queueing? If they are, please then inform the commuters! I'm sure they will be speechless.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:I dun do that at interchanges.......but i'm guilty of doing that outside my school bus stop and sometimes the next bus stop cos i'm so tired and the pax are all school students.....TCH, NYGS, HCJC, RVHS etc..

You are entitled to your own opinion, but beware of hidden threats, esp when in school uniform......you may unwittingly scolded off someone high up and you can be in deep trouble. But again, its yourself.Originally posted by pkchukiss:Anyone who attempts to cut queue, regardless of age (I believe that nobody should be exempted from queing up) will receive a sharp rebut from me.
I think even my friends are frightened of me.

Yesterday, when I went to play pool with my friends, there is this "ah lian" like girl at the counter. After registering, we went to see the table. The cloth was torn so I asked to have another table. Then when she asked me to pay an extra 20 cents per table, I told her nicely that I would not settle for that. She looked pissed off. Then I gave her a dressing down in front of her manager (a guy), before my friends restrained me (Yes, they used force to stop me).
Don't mess with me. (That applies even when I am in school uniform.)
Fwaaaa... dun tell me you are my fren? Coz I have a fren who is almost the same like you. Once he scolded this group of white-collared morons in the MRT after they barged in without letting the others alight first. My friend said "I'm trying to get out of the train you bunch of assholes". Then one of the morons replied "Wah, so rude ah". Which my friend spontaneously replied "As opposed to you assholes!". I cracked up soon after that..Originally posted by pkchukiss:Anyone who attempts to cut queue, regardless of age (I believe that nobody should be exempted from queing up) will receive a sharp rebut from me.
