Fully automatic = no clutch.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:oohhh!! is the gear selector located on the left and just next to the steering wheel?
Yes
and does the driver need to step on the clutch pedal to change gear??
In KL, Intrakota is using the same type of validators (Slight Fare) as the ones in Singapore. They are not second hand, mind you.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:If my eyes were not playing tricks, I think the public buses in KL or JB (can't remember which cities) also uses similar validators as Singapore public buses??? I saw it during my visit to KL/JB ard yr2000....
Causeway Link MAN citybuses use the 2nd gen SBS type validators if I'm not mistaken?Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:In KL, Intrakota is using the same type of validators (Slight Fare) as the ones in Singapore. They are not second hand, mind you.
In JB, Causeway Link is using second-hand fare boxes and ticket dispensers (the ones froms OTS times) from SBS. I had a close look and found that they bear the SBS logo. They are installed on the MAN 18.310 buses which do long distance runs within Johor; eg. Larkin - Ayer Hitam.
Interesting info....could u explain briefly how do I travel on public buses in KL and JB? such as:Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:In KL, Intrakota is using the same type of validators (Slight Fare) as the ones in Singapore. They are not second hand, mind you.

yes u r right. i see that bus all the time when i go to sch (sec sch that is) . uh it serves bus 202 in fact. i did not get the rego but i vaguely remember it was SBS4720Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:No that was not really a dream. Okay hold your breath and see below.
1. One or two B57's were fitted with driver a/c units. Appeared on some bedok/tampines feeder services.
2. At least ONE B57 had its interior refurbished. I did not manage to catch the rego but it was sometime between 1993 - 1996. I saw it outside the Ngee Ann Poly bus stop while I was going home from school at Ngee Ann. Hence it would be one of the SBS (including ex-SBS) services currently plying that bus stop. The interior was refurbished to the original SBS DM/O405 scheme (blue floor, new seats with blue cushion cover and thick plastic handles, grey walls, white ceiling)
In JB, fares are distance related. In KL, the area is divided into fare zones.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:Interesting info....could u explain briefly how do I travel on public buses in KL and JB? such as:
-the bus fares vs distance
-bus frequency
-buses with validators; where can I buy and top-up the farecard? is it re-fundable? can the farecard be used on KL trains?
- do they publish any bus/train guide for sale?
- how to use the validators?
- do drivers provide change for cash payment?
- can we flag the bus at any point along the roads in the suburbs? (I mean not at a bus-stop?)![]()
