Service 28 may be withdrawn, the route between Tampines and Bedok may be covered by another existing service.Originally posted by service_238:As to what I see, here are my suggestions for the Bus route amendments/withdrawals for CCL.
Service 24: Withdrawal (Services 22, 28, 2 can cover the withdrawn sector) However, no bus service can cover the Tenah Merah - Airport sector. (If only Svc 34 was around)
Service 70: Withdrawal (Services 163, 103, 22, 197, 196 can cover withdrawn sector) OR Amended to serve Yio Chu Kang - Serangoon.
Service 93: Withdrawal (Services 61, 855, 157, 13, 28 can cover the withdrawn sector) OR Amended to serve HarbourFront - Farrer Rd (Loop)
It seems a little tricky to amend the routes along Upp Paya Lebar Rd & Paya Lebar Rd because there's very few connecting roads to the road itself.. However, Svc 22 76 80 may be amended to serve elsewhere.
For the western side of CCL, I'd agree that Svc 165 855 will be amended or cut short. But i wonder how SBST & TIBS are going to handle this.
One service currently plying Geylang Rd/Sims Ave can be diverted into Geylang East Central.Originally posted by SBS9818A:SBST have said they are going to cause a lot of problems if they withdraw Sv. 80 as it's the only service for Geylang residents to take to town.
Sv. 2 could be a possible candidate.Originally posted by tranquilice:One service currently plying Geylang Rd/Sims Ave can be diverted into Geylang East Central.
When service 864 was integrated in 1999, passengers along Geylang Rd/Sims Ave (between Aljunied MRT and Paya Lebar MRT) lose their direct link to Hougang Central and Sengkang, they have to walk to Geylang East Central for service 80.
Yes, then service 80 may be withdrawn after the link between Geylang East and Chinatown is maintain by proposed service 2.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Sv. 2 could be a possible candidate.

Lovely insights!Originally posted by ^tamago^:Taken from "Land Transport Guide of Singapore, 2001-2002" by LTA from National Reference Library. A quick note of quotes:
Design of crossovers at Marina Line:
- 'X' common crossovers at DBG-MSM, NCH-BLV (like those at CGA)
- stacked tunnels from MLN to NCH
- single-nosed crossover from BLV-bound to DBG-bound at BLV (found anywhere else)
- central over-run tunnel at BLV-OAP

Oh.. didnt know those kind of crossings are known as SNGs. :p Thanks for the explanation.Originally posted by ^tamago^:Sorry, it's swing nose crossing (SNG), not single nose crossing, though it's also logical to call it single nose crossing..
A middlel overrun tunnel/track is simply an additional third tunnel/track in between two tunnels/tracks connected by crossovers.. they can hold a train temporaily while it reverse or jus park there awaiting instructions.. they can be found between these stations: Yishun - Sembawang (track), Farrer Park - Little India (tunnel), Woodleigh - Potong Pasir (tunnel).
Exclusive link to PM's place from MRT track ah? Could the empty space be some huge bomb shelter or basement of shopping center?Originally posted by ^tamago^:yup.. thanks for informing me that Outram Park there has middle overrun tunnels too.. and also Woodlands - Marsiling and Bishan - Ang Mo Kio - Yio Chu Kang .. aniwaes, we might not have any chance to go to this, but beyond HarbourFront Terminal there's also a middle overrun tunnel..
and sorry it's SNC.. how i knew it was from a report some years ago in the ST about SMRT's decision to use a CC at Changi Airport Terminal Station cos they felt it produced less noise than SNCs but they arrived with a different conclusion when they planned the SMRT network in the 1980s so they went ahead with all SNCs for efficiency's sake when maintaining the tracks and now we are full of SNCs everywhere.. aniwaes it's quite useless since CGA station is underground? heh..
shall try not to reply too late cos easy to make mistakes when u r not so alert..
the second last station from terminals always get at least one SNC (LKS has 2) in case of track faults with track switching equipment at crossovers.. i was thinking if Newton is a bit far away for trains to U-turn when Marina Bay's SNCs have track faults..
and also, there's a tunnel light that will always be switched on midway between Dhoby Ghaut and Somerset in both directions.. it is believed that there is a door connecting the two tunnels but why only this section? and behind Somerset's northbound tunnel there's a hugh empty space (look at the station's load diagram there).. i wonder what is it for? i mean, only Somerset has it.. could it be linked to the Istana or Oxley Rd where LKY stays? whee...=P
As a resident in Buona Vista, I am concerned if CCL will be in my neighbourhood too.Originally posted by tranquilice:Copied from an earlier topic (Future MRT Lines)
My assumptions for Stages 4 & 5: Lornie Rd > Eng Neo Ave > Sixth Ave > Ghim Moh > Buona Vista > NUH > South Buona Vista Rd > Pasir Panjang Rd > PSA Building > HarbourFront > Keppel Rd > Marina BayFront > Millennia (Stage 1 station), thus forming the Circle Line.
perhaps that shall go my bus 74, 165 and 156 too. anyway that's still many years away.Originally posted by xin1jun2:circle line ratz?
my goodness i cant imagine losing my 93 to this circle line (goodbye 155?)

I don't think 74 will be affected. It mostly serves students from many different schools.Originally posted by iamgoondu:perhaps that shall go my bus 74, 165 and 156 too. anyway that's still many years away.
Possibly Sv. 156 cut short to Bishan, anything goes especially with SBST.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:I don't think 74 will be affected. It mostly serves students from many different schools.
165 could be affected for its MacRitchie-Clementi part of its route.
156 could be affected for its Sengkang-MacRitchie part of its route
Remember Dover station? With CCL, Service 74 will be redundant. Of course that would only happen if both MRT and buses are operated by same operator.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:I don't think 74 will be affected. It mostly serves students from many different schools.

Why would SBST remove their buses to benefit SMRT?
Any ideas where the Phase 4 CCL stations will be?
Look at Sv. 106, TIBS were forced to remove it but they weren't too happy, and rules are rules, so..Originally posted by iamgoondu:Remember Dover station? With CCL, Service 74 will be redundant. Of course that would only happen if both MRT and buses are operated by same operator.

IMO They will still keep 74. Many students take 74 from AMK and Hougang to Whitley Sec (along Marymount Rd), Nanyang Pri, Nanyang Girls' High Sch, The Chinese High Sch, Hwa Chong JC, National JC, Raffles' Girls Pri Sch (all along Bt Timah Rd), Ngee Ann Poly, Singapore Poly, ACS(I) and ACJC. I'm sure that if it were withdrawn, many students and their parents will protest strongly against it. Try taking 74 during peak hours when school reopens next year from Hougang and the bus will be packed for most of the whole journey.Originally posted by iamgoondu:Remember Dover station? Here's a compliation of all Crossings on the North South MRT Line.Originally posted by ^tamago^:Design of crossings at Marina Line:

- stacked tunnels from MLN to NCH

- middle over-run tunnel at BLV-OAP
