They didn't propose. They were forced to amend Sv. 106, TIBS were not very happy to do so, from what I heard.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:If this is the case, then why did TIBS propose to cut 106 short to Marina Centre so that commuters are forced to take their rival's NEL during the 1st phase of the bus rationalisation?
They cannot override TransitLink. Perhaps Sv. 2 is playing the role Sv. 147 is due to play in the future, the only service entirely duplicating the MRT line.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:of course they won't be happy... Though i suppose they could have put up a greater resistance by arguing that SBS Transit has already got some bus services duplicating the East-West line or by calling for 103 to be amended in the 1st phase instead of their 106.
Service 107 is one of the link for Potong Pasir, Serangoon, Kallang Bahru residents to the nearest EWL station (Beside services 133 and 853)Originally posted by ^tamago^:i sat it at around 6pm towards hougang central from suntec city.. the load wasn't fantastic between suntec and lavender MRT, and s'goon and hougang central (this is probably due to the route being too new).. but between lavender MRT and s'goon it's ideal.. my ideal means at least 11 people were on board for most of the stretch.. tat, according to a report on costs of maintaining a bus service many yrs ago on ST, says , as a benchmark, Mercedes O405 use a litre of diesel for 2km and most impt-ly, they need on the average 11 people using a bus for it to be profitable..
as for the VO that i saw travelling in the opposite direction at that time, it seems veri empty, probably because it jus left Lavender St on its way to Jln Sultan and suntec city..
What was the old Sv. 107A shortworking route?Originally posted by service_238:Phrase 3 starts today. Any comments feel free to post them here. Here's what i've found.
SBST 62A: Punggol Int - Sims Ave (Aft Lor 1 Geylang)
5.30am - 9.30 am on weekdays
SBST 82A: S'goon Int - Punggol Rd End
12.15am - 12.30am daily
Apparantly i did not see 107A anymore..
Any idea what's 103A's route details?
S'goon Int - Shenton Way (Temasek Tower)Originally posted by SBS9818A:What was the old Sv. 107A shortworking route?
If this is was the route of 107A, then I don't think there is still a need for it since 107 terminates at Shenton Way terminal now.Originally posted by service_238:S'goon Int - Shenton Way (Temasek Tower)
It operates in the morning on weekdays. I've seen one empty 107A heading towards S'goon Int @0705 hrs and another one in operation going downtown at Woodsville Flyover.
Only until 7.30pm, that is.Originally posted by Yusry:If this is was the route of 107A, then I don't think there is still a need for it since 107 terminates at Shenton Way terminal now.
To be even more specific, let's might as well mention on Mondays to Saturday.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Only until 7.30pm, that is.
True. What's the point of going to Marina Center with the glut of services in there. Marina Center is WAAAYY too overserved, IMO.Originally posted by Yusry:To be even more specific, let's might as well mention on Mondays to Saturday.
Yes, New Bridge Rd is quite isolated now. One of the services could be diverted there, definitely not Sv. 56 as Sv. 54 is present.Originally posted by service_238:It seems like SBST find Marina Centre an alternative of Shenton Way on weekends. I think they didnt want their services to run on empty in Shenton Way on weekends. Hence there's weekend services to Marina Centre
Eg
Svc 70 107 162 700A.
Daily Services that terminate there
Svc 56 75 77 106 171 195 960
NightRiders
Daily Services that loop there
Svc 97 111 133 502 857
Daily Services that past there
Svc 36
In total, there's 13 services serving there on a daily basis, with 4 more during weekends.
Is Marina Centre a lovable loop/termination place? They should divert some to New Bridge Rd. There's only 2 12 54 174 190 left there.
They done it with svc 401 already. I dun think its possible esp if the services terminate from the west end of Singapore.....it makes much more sense to run it through the Orchard Shopping Belt to generate more pax.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Or they can follow bus 36 loop at tomlinson road . What's up with SBST's thinking . I have doubts with their ability of handling both NEL and Bus operations .
Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Correct. I believe the only aspect to commend SBST on is their feeder services, very well organised and planned, although some are circuitous, but the way they run their trunk services is atrocious, compared to TIBS, sometimes.

I agree that they are a bit over-taxed with the handling of both modes of operation as it is one company with different divisions, while SMRT is still a company on its own, TIBS is just aggluminated in name, hence SMRT corp service can tend to be rather misleading and poor sometimes.
However, at least SBST still manages to keep up with its bus operations rather well, especially the feeder services it serves. I am rather impressed by how it routes its services in the area it serves, and if its in TIBS case, they would rather place one overtaxed service there and cite "duplication" as a reason, and i hope that this is one point that SBST can keep it up.
Rail service is rather lacklustre......considering the frequency of trains, but i feel that sometimes its reasonable considering the loads ( Anyone seen a fully packed train on the NEL right to the doors ? ) , but it would be better if placed in the hands of SMRT because of experience.
Just my own opinion and views
The bus is SBS9592A (no ads)... I saw it yesterday afternoon...Originally posted by Zilchster:Service 62...i only saw one double decker...should be a VO3...still uses buses in the 900 series..939T, 945A, 957B
Yes, the security checks have long been abolished.Originally posted by service_238:Is it possible for the public to enter the 2 Seletar Camps without security checks? Can anyone verify this? I'd wish to take 103 and travel inside the camps..
