If confirmed, then this will be the first time NAC DD are converted to AC DD.Originally posted by carbikebus:I Heard Some News From My Sbst Mechanic Friend Saying That Probably Next Year,All Volvo Olympian 2 Axles Nac D-decks Will Be Converted To Air-con To Meet The Demands On Trunk & Feeder Services.Don't Know If It Confirm Or Not,But It Is In The Plannings.
By Next Year,Most Volvo Mk2's And Possibly Scania N113's Have Reach The 15 Years Age,What Models Do You Think Sbst Will Purchased?Any Possibility That They Will Purchased Articulated Or Long Buses After Volvo Mk4's Intercooled Or Even 9.4m Midi's?
Hoping That Either Sbst Or Tibs Will Purchased More Brands Like
IVECO,RENAULT-IRISBUS,MCW,MAN,NISSAN Or Even American Buses.Impossible Right?I Thinks So Too...
It would be good if they convert the VO 2 axles to a/c, but they are facing some constraints:Originally posted by carbikebus:I Heard Some News From My Sbst Mechanic Friend Saying That Probably Next Year,All Volvo Olympian 2 Axles Nac D-decks Will Be Converted To Air-con To Meet The Demands On Trunk & Feeder Services.Don't Know If It Confirm Or Not,But It Is In The Plannings.

This news of the VO 2-axles to be converted to A/C have been going on for the past 2 years. For me, I heard it from a friend of mine who was attached to SBS Braddell Depot as a Bus Technician. I would very much like to see how SBST is going to convert these buses, considering a typical aircon unit for a DD weighs as much as 500kg!Originally posted by carbikebus:I Heard Some News From My Sbst Mechanic Friend Saying That Probably Next Year,All Volvo Olympian 2 Axles Nac D-decks Will Be Converted To Air-con To Meet The Demands On Trunk & Feeder Services.Don't Know If It Confirm Or Not,But It Is In The Plannings.

Ya, but the poor fella is used for fire fighting training. Urgh.Originally posted by SAN853:Actually, there were other converted Airconditioned double-decker buses before this. SBS converted several Mercedes 0305 double decks for exhibition buses in the past.
Do you know that Singapore still has the last Leyland Atlantean? Its at Civil Defence Academy!![]()
The Mercedes O305 "MegaArk" bus was used as a mobile IT lab. And not for mainline passenger use. And the airconditioner used was like the ones used at homes, rather than the ones you see on a Superbus.Originally posted by SAN853:Actually, there were other converted Airconditioned double-decker buses before this. SBST will probably buy more Scanias as their reliability is renowned. SBST buay song with Merc(got some insider info), so wait long long.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Hopefully SBST will buy new mercedes to replace the current scaniasN113 (Thanks god !!) and Mark 2 ( Gonna miss this bus ) them ....
Sentosa LO 2 axles. Previously the lower deck was airconditioned, separated from the upper deck by a sliding door. Aircon used was those used in homes. The aircon was removed years ago.Originally posted by Superbus:The Mercedes O305 "MegaArk" bus was used as a mobile IT lab. And not for mainline passenger use. And we only know of only ONE O305 converted to a/c. You have other examples that we do not know of?
Cheers and warm regards
Yes, but the front is damaged, used for civil defence training.Originally posted by SAN853:Actually, there were other converted Airconditioned double-decker buses before this. SBS converted several Mercedes 0305 double decks for exhibition buses in the past.

A separate A/C unit can prove unreliable, which is why they were removed from the Sentosa LOs. It will not have enough power to cool both upper and lower deck.Originally posted by off_service:Sentosa LO 2 axles. I don't think the purpose was to cool both the upper and lower deck then... The upper deck was open air and then there's some sliding door to prevent the air-con in the lower deck from escaping if I remember correctly...Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:A separate A/C unit can prove unreliable, which is why they were removed from the Sentosa LOs. Then it will defeat the purpose or the so-called 'goal' of SBST of having a fully airconditioned bus fleet, if SBST were to buy 2-axles double-deckers. Service 8 is justified being an a/c service, it only needs a/c single-deckers, not Superbuses.Originally posted by th1988:Hope that SBS would buy 2x DD as services like 90 needs them. Service 8 just need an 2x DD as well as the demand does not even justify for a full AC service.
