i've been to national reference library at central library level 3 and went to singapore resource centre and guess what i've found? bus guides dating back to 1979! i didn't have time to note down all the stuffs, but i've noted Somapah Interchange's buses. if you need the routes of old services do visit there when u're free!

Somapah Interchange
located at present-day Singapore Expo carpark, near the junction of Upp Changi Rd East and Upp Changi Rd.

NOTE: Opened in 1982 to house services terminating at Upp Changi Rd 15.5km and serves as an interchange to Changi Airport Services. In 1983, when the new Changi Airport Bus Plan came into effect, Services 392 and 395 were withdrawn and the interchange was downgraded to Somapah Terminal. By 1986, it had only Services 11, 12, 14 and 155 terminating there. Closed in early 1989, with the services withdrawn (11) or relocated to Pasir Ris (12), Changi Village (14) and 155 (Marine Parade).

Somapah Interchange, (Upp Changi Rd East), Upp Changi Rd, Bedok Rd, Upp East Coast Rd, East Coast Rd, Mountbatten Rd, Nicoll Highway, Connaught Dr, (Fullerton Rd), Collyer Quay, Raffles Quay, Shenton Way, Keppel Rd, Telok Blangah Rd, Pasir Panjang Rd, Clementi Rd, Upp Ayer Rajah Rd, Jln Ahmad Ibrahim, (Jurong Port Rd) and Jurong Interchange.
And return via Jurong Interchange, (Jurong Port Rd), Jln Ahmad Ibrahim, Upp Ayer Rajah Rd, Clementi Rd, Pasir Panjang Rd, Telok Blangah Rd, Keppel Rd, Anson Rd, Robinson Rd, (Collyer Quay, Fullerton Rd), Empress Place, (St Andrew's Rd, Beach Rd, Bras Basah Rd), Nicoll Highway, Mountbatten Rd, East Coast Rd, Upp East Coast Rd, Bedok Rd, Upp Changi Rd, (Upp Changi Rd East) and Somapah Interchange.
NOTE: Operated from Upp Changi Rd 13.3km in 1979, then extended to 15.5km on the same road in 1980. Later amended to operate from Somapah Interchange in 1982 when it opened. Amended to operated between Jurong and Tampines between 1983-1985. Cut short to operate from Clementi in July 1990 with the relocation of Jurong Interchange.

fyi, it's at the last shelf of singapore resource centre.. walk all the way in.. call numbers 388.3321 for bus guide 1979 - 1990 and slightly higher 388.4??? for TransitLink Guides 1992 - 1999. there are some missing ones though, like 1983 etc. still can't locate missing service plying Chin Swee Rd.

i realised that Somapah Interchange may not have closed since 1983 as it is shown as a bus terminal in the 1988 Singapore Street Directory. thus, it could most probably have been downgraded to Somapah Terminal after all the 39x services (interchanges have feeder services and terminals don't, generally) were withdrawn in 1983 from Somapah. but i induced the closure from the booklet available at NRL that introduces new services at Airport, including 57 (Bishan - Airport), and stated that 39x services have been withdrawn except 390.

BTW, I did notice an 80c OMO service 138 from AMK to Shenton Way (loop) that travelled express from Clemenceau Ave (at Newton Circus) till Cantonment Road via Chin Swee Road. 1. updated the routes of some buses that plied from Somapah Int/Ter.
2. my error for the 57's route (it's not bishan - airport). i assumed it cos i was typing it into my pda in the last 5 minutes of library hours.
3. could not confirm whether i also copied wrongly 393 and 394's route cos they are done together with 57 during last 5 minutes (i was doing the airport 1983 booklet then)
4. Service 17 plied from Changi Point to Prince Edward Rd. be checking out on actual route of service 17 when i go to NRL the next time, prob tomolo or mondae.

The new Changi Airport Bus Plan, which was effected by SBS on 25th June 1983 when 5 Changi Airport SSB and Scheme B services were withdrawn unilaterally after just 2 years of operation.
SERVICE 9 (Geylang Lor 1 Fringe Car Park - Changi Airport Cargo Complex):
Geylang Lor 1 Fringe Car Park, (Geylang Lor 1), Sims Ave, Sims Ave East, New Upp Changi Rd, Bedok Rd, Upp Changi Rd, Loyang Way, Loyang Ave, Nicoll Dr, Airport Cargo Rd and Changi Airport Cargo Complex.
And return via Airport Cargo Rd, Nicoll Dr, Loyang Ave, Loyang Way, Upp Changi Rd, Bedok Rd, New Upp Changi Rd, Changi Rd, Geylang Rd and Geylang Lor 1 Fringe Car Park.
NOTE: Used to ply between Geylang Lor 1 Fringe Car Park and Changi Point before 1983. Its route was extended to from Changi Point to Cargo Complex and integrated with Services 391 and 395 as a result of the new Changi Airport Bus Plan on 25th June 1983.

NOTE: Introduced on 25th June 1983, this service's route has not changed generally since then. It replaces Service 392 from Somapah, Service 394 from Bedok and SSB Service 727 from Ang Mo Kio.

Commonwealth Ave, Queensway, Alexandra Rd, Tiong Bahru Rd, Outram Rd, Cantonment Rd, Keppel Rd, ECP, Airport Boulevard and Passenger Terminal Basement.
And return via Airport Boulevard, ECP, Keppel Rd, Spottiswoode Park Rd, Cantonment Rd, Outram Rd, Tiong Bahru Rd, Alexandra Rd, Queensway, Commonwealth Ave, Holland Ave, Holland Dr, North Buona Vista Rd and Commonwealth Ave.

149 plied along Boon Keng Road, Upp Boon Keng Road and Serangoon Road, skipping, Geylang Bahru and Jln Kolam Ayer, just like the current service 31.
Another thing. Back in 1983, I don't think there was a flyover from Jalan Toa Payoh (PIE - westbound direction) into TP estate via Kim Keat Link. The flyover was at Toa Payoh Lorong 2. -

for SBST 149, i typed it in myself from my knowledge without ensuring it's 1982 context cos i was rushing for time and u're probably right bout the Kim Keat Link Flyover.
was at NRL on Sat, 2 hours before it closed furiously typing everything in. hope i can get there early Monday morning so i dun have to rush thru again. -
double-checked everything bout Airport and Somapah. and todae, all the Bus Guides except the 1979/1980 (chinese).. and it's not back by closing time.. strange.. so i can't copy Service 17's route..
