how about extend 970 to woodlands regional bus interchange?

  how about extend 970 to woodlands regional bus interchange?it seems 970 does not have a lot of passengers from bukit panjang to shenton way.further more,there is 700 from bt panjang.also there is no direct bus to CBD area from woodlands .what do you think?

  Pasir Ris station wouldn't be connected directly to Punggol station. Instead, when the Circle line is built, you'll have to take from Pasir Ris station to Paya Lebar, take the Circle Line to Serangoon and continue up on the NEL to Punggol. Alternatively, you can still take 3 now to Punggol.

  TIBS 970 was introduced to replace some lost links due to the withdrawl of TIBS 5 (Geylang Lor 1 - Bt Panjang via Sixth Ave, Commonwealth MRT and Chinatown) when the Bt Panjang LRT opened in 1999.
  
  However, there was a public outcry from some residents, especially those living in Sixth Ave, that they could not commute to Commonwealth MRT to transfer to the East-West Line to work. It is meant to provide links between Bt Panjang, Dunearn Rd and Sixth Ave residents with quick links to Commonwealth MRT on the East-West Line and also to some other areas that were previously served by TIBS 5. Thus, even if load is not ideal, the Bt Panjang - Shenton Way sector can never be cut short or withdrawn unless we have Bt Timah Line (BTL) coming our way.
  
  As for extending it to Woodlands, it is not required as links between Bt Panjang and Woodlands is covered by LRT-MRT, TIBS960, TIBS 963 and TIBS 187. The last two are the fastest, of course, plying BKE straight to exit at near Marsiling MRT already. As for Bt Panjang and CBD, you can take the North-South :Line MRT, dude=)

  If I'm not wrong woodlands Interchange doesnt have any space for anymore services to terminate there already. I heard that they recently built another berth specially for svc 966.

  You are right. The berth for service 966 only allows one service to use it.

  Service 700 originally operates from Woodlands. It was then cut back to end at Bt Panjang.

  Bugis and Marina Centre (served by service 960) is inside CBD.

  There is still spaces for berths, 2 more can be build beside service 966 berth.

  The service was introduced in August 2000 (8 months after service 5 was withdrawn in December 1999)
