  yes.. they asked drivers to put in a cashcard with $ so:
  
  1. They won't jam the system with many unpaid incidents, considering that buses go in and out the whole day (practical)
  2. They don't want the public to complain about it when they decided to have fare hike (PR)
  
  if there's zero value i'm not too sure, but drivers have been told to get themselves a personal cashcard and were assured no value would be deducted..

  Is it? So the company saves money on cashcards isn't it?

  Not only that, it saves on administrative work.. last time they have to top up at depots everyday or once a few days i think (since they noe how many trips they make per day into CBD they can make exact top-ups using special NETS machines).. now they not only not need to do that, by making drivers use their own cards, the company don't have to be responsible for lost company cashcards..
