Sengkang LRT West Loop
-------------------
".. one of the HDB's major concerns is the environmental intrusions with respect to noise levels and visual intrusions.. requires that the LRT guideway should maintain a general setback distance of 6 metres minimum from the nearest HDB residential blocks.. addressed with locating the guideway and stations along the road central median with setback distances ranging from 15 to 20 metres.. In exceptional cases where the minimum distances could not be met, engineering solutions that include visual screens at the station SW5 and misting windows on the LRT vehicles are required."
does the Mitsubishi Crystal Mover have misting windows? it is not used in the East Loop but the windows of the Crystal Movers does not look as thick as those used in BPLRT, which have misting windows.
"In order to ensure efficient land use.. the LRT guideway and stations are located along the (road) central median except for station SW5.. HDB has planned a commercial development of 6000 square metres gross floor area which would be laterally integrated with Station SW5.. the current proposed 6-storey commercial development at Sengkang Town Neighbourhood 4 is linked to the LRT station via the ground level plaza entrance area and the bridge at the third storey level (LRT platform level). Fare collections will be located at these LRT station levels.."
Fyi only. SW5 is Fernvale station. Located at the junction of Sengkang West Ave and Fernvale Rd, in a configuration similar to BPLRT's Teck Whye station.
Do those Mitsubishi trainsets have "misting" windows? They probably seem to do. From this Sunday Bukit Panjang LRT hours shortened to 8am - 10pm for maintainance work, there will be shuttle buses, but you pay feeder fare, in the early AM and late PM.
