actually it could interchange with both NSL and CCL at Marina Bay for greater connectivity so the cost of building it is viable.. then it don't have to ply a long stretch across the city via Havelock and Merchant Rds and go deep under the CTE tunnels, which are heavy duty tunnels unlike MRT tunnels.. so from Marina Bay, it could then turn into Cantonment Rd and interchange with Outram Park, with the station built under Outram Rd alongside EWL tracks.. construction is possible, however, only when the SGH delivery base buildings are condemned within 10 years' time.. then it could go straight to Kim Seng station..Originally posted by sandstorm6299:Marina Park - Links with the CCL, this station will be the interchange which connects the southern part of the system with the new line. There will be almost no way to connect this line to Raffles Place, City Hall or Chinatown.
Kim Seng - the line passes under Marina Bay, under Merchant and Havelock Rds to Kim Seng Rd/Prom at Great World City.
Whitley - Links to the BTL, this area is already very cramped so I'm not too sure.
Novena - Links to the NSL, the tunnels would have to make an extremely tight turn here. This might be possible.
It's deep due to the nearby NSL tunnels.Originally posted by ^tamago^:the station box for Museum station is ready and workers were seen doing restoration work, including laying of tar on top of the station box.. traffic should be reverted to its old straight path within weeks..
anyway, this station is one of the deepest at 32 metres (same as RFP i think)..
Yes, it's possible, and can relieve the loads on services 76 and 135.Originally posted by ^tamago^:i was wondering could LTA build a Paya Lebar <-> Marine Parade "shuttle" rail link first? it would do a lot of good for the traffic and residents and could later be extended to become part of ERL..
Possible, a LRT link might do the trick, the route would be Paya Lebar - Tanjong Katong - Upp East Coast - Marine Parade - VS/VJC - Bedok?Originally posted by ^tamago^:i was wondering could LTA build a Paya Lebar <-> Marine Parade "shuttle" rail link first? it would do a lot of good for the traffic and residents and could later be extended to become part of ERL..
It would help alleviate the loads.Originally posted by th1988:But you should know how costly to build such short route and LRT is to serve New Towns but Marine Parade is not a New Town but an estate under Geylang.
After Bt Panjang LRT, it was annouced that LRT systems will only be implemented in newly developed towns (e.g. Punggol) and NOT existing towns.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Possible, a LRT link might do the trick, the route would be Paya Lebar - Tanjong Katong - Upp East Coast - Marine Parade - VS/VJC - Bedok?
Then I have nothing to say since LTA is too rich.Originally posted by off_service:After Bt Panjang LRT, it was annouced that LRT systems will only be implemented in newly developed towns (e.g. Punggol) and NOT existing towns.
actually iPhase 1 does not go under NSL tunnels at all, from DBG to CVC and beyond.. it goes under EWL..=)Originally posted by tranquilice:It's deep due to the nearby NSL tunnels.
actually it's more like they will extend the PYL-MRP sector in the future to become ERL but at the moment a high-speed express rail link between PYL and MRP looks justified...Originally posted by SBS9818A:Possible, a LRT link might do the trick, the route would be Paya Lebar - Tanjong Katong - Upp East Coast - Marine Parade - VS/VJC - Bedok?

And also because of the History Museum building which is right above Museum station. It is reported that Museum station is built very deep so as not to affect the foundation of the Museum itself.Originally posted by tranquilice:It's deep due to the nearby NSL tunnels.
Its the Singapore Art Museum, it has to be deep so as to not affect the foundation of SMU and SAM.Originally posted by Superbus:And also because of the History Museum building which is right above Museum station. The Bukit Timah Line, the Eastern Region Line and the Western Region Line was cited to be constructed within the next 10-15 years. Currently, LTA is in the stage of doing feasibility studies. I think once they concluded that it is justifiable for the rail lines to be built, only then the locations of the stations and bidding by constructuon companies will be announced. The earliest date for the announcement could be this year.Originally posted by disappear:Roughly when will the Bukit Timah line and the stations be announced? This year? Next year?
Will it finish together at the same time as the Circle line stage 5?
Actually, in view of the bad economy conditions. The govt has announced that ERL and BTL will not be built for the next 10 years. So only the CCL will be builtOriginally posted by Superbus:The Bukit Timah Line, the Eastern Region Line and the Western Region Line was cited to be constructed within the next 10-15 years. New rail lines might be delayed.Originally posted by iamgoondu:that's very optimistic! CCL phase 5 will roll in 2010 and they anounced the routes in 2003.
if it's for another 10 years for bukit timah line to roll, then it shall anounce in 2006, it may drag to anounce in 2007.
why 2007? as rail lines may be a carrot or candy for many.
