That's quite true. There might be housing developments on top of the depot. The Old Turf Club is currently being used as a shopping center so it seems unlikely.Originally posted by kenmin:there r still lotsa land along Upper Bukit Timah Road/Bukit Timah Road/Dunearn Road. 1 of them is the old turf club... nowadays, the depot will not be depot only. it will be integrated with other developments.
and that's temporary.Originally posted by SBS9818A:That's quite true. There might be housing developments on top of the depot. The Old Turf Club is currently being used as a shopping center so it seems unlikely.
Since redevelopment costs for Turf City cost quite a bomb it should last a while.Originally posted by kenmin:and that's temporary.
In my opinion, yes. BTL may terminate at Nicoll Highway CCL station.Originally posted by disappear:do u think the Bukit Timah Line will actually link Newton and Little India and Bugis Stations together? or will it just stop at Newton?
Yes, I think the stacked tunnels are either reserved for BTL or CCL phase 6.Originally posted by service_238:I think it should.. There's a post somewhere in this thread or in this forum that CCL's Nicoll Highway and Millenia Stations are just like CTH and RFP - stacked tunnels. There's a high possibility that BTL will ply here, then towards Bugis/Lavender, then Little India and Newton and so on...
The exact locations will be finalised by LTA. LTA mentioned in its website that BTL will runs from Bt Panjang into the city.Originally posted by iamgoondu:Looking at the rail map closely,

I would like to have BTL link to Little India and Bugis. However Little India is just a stop away from Dhoby Ghaut interchange and Bugis is just a stop away from City Hall interchange too. There is little derived benefits from making these links. And all lands after Newton are probably built up and densely populated, huge costs will incur. Perhaps you can tell us where exactly those stations after Newton for BTL will be?
Where do you expect BTL to terminate?
this is what LTA mentioned in it's webby.Originally posted by tranquilice:The exact locations will be finalised by LTA. LTA mentioned in its website that BTL will runs from Bt Panjang into the city.
The Bukit Timah Line will serve the Bukit Panjang, Upper Bukit Timah and Bukit Timah regions. The line will alleviate the heavy traffic in the Upper Bukit Timah/Bukit Timah/Dunearn Road corridor.
Looks like it may indeed terminate at Ten Mile Junction.Originally posted by tranquilice:The exact locations will be finalised by LTA. LTA mentioned in its website that BTL will runs from Bt Panjang into the city.
Ten Mile Junction has no space for a MRT station, I guess the station may be build at the present heavy vehicle park or at the shophouses area via land acquisition.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Looks like it may indeed terminate at Ten Mile Junction.
Possible.Originally posted by tranquilice:Ten Mile Junction has no space for a MRT station, I guess the station may be build at the present heavy vehicle park or at the shophouses area via land acquisition.
What if it ends at Choa Chu Kang instead, there is a large plot of land opposite CCK MRT/LRT/BusOriginally posted by tranquilice:Ten Mile Junction has no space for a MRT station, I guess the station may be build at the present heavy vehicle park or at the shophouses area via land acquisition.
definitely not. because LTA already stated that this line serves Bukit Panjang.Originally posted by cck_190:What if it ends at Choa Chu Kang instead, there is a large plot of land opposite CCK MRT/LRT/Bus
Yes, the area I was stating in the previous reply is in (or near) Bt Panjang town centre.Originally posted by kenmin:i think it will be at BP central instead.
LTA stated that BTL will only runs from Bt Panjang into the city and nowhere else, unless LTA changes the plan.Originally posted by cck_190:What if it ends at Choa Chu Kang instead, there is a large plot of land opposite CCK MRT/LRT/Bus
The line will terminate at Bukit Panjang. Personally, Kranji is better as there's more land available.Originally posted by cck_190:What if it ends at Choa Chu Kang instead, there is a large plot of land opposite CCK MRT/LRT/Bus
Although Kranji has more land, the BTL between Bt Panjang and Kranji would be of a total wastage of money as there's practically nothing along that stretch of Woodlands Rd.Originally posted by SBS9818A:The line will terminate at Bukit Panjang. for the time being, i dun think they will go beyond BP new town... but they do have plans to extend it to Sungei Kadut and beyond in the future...Originally posted by service_238:Although Kranji has more land, the BTL between Bt Panjang and Kranji would be of a total wastage of money as there's practically nothing along that stretch of Woodlands Rd.
As for Sungei Kadut, LTA had plan to build a MRT station there, on the Woodlands MRT extension, but was later dropped.Originally posted by kenmin:for the time being, i dun think they will go beyond BP new town... but they do have plans to extend it to Sungei Kadut and beyond in the future...
It was not dropped. it's a future station just like Dover which was constructed on an existing line. even the code has been reserved for it. NS6.Originally posted by tranquilice:As for Sungei Kadut, LTA had plan to build a MRT station there, on the Woodlands MRT extension, but was later dropped.
No,no,no. I mean that Choa Chu Kang might be an interchange. The train might pass through there before going into the City. It might be like that as having 2 MRT lines near each other but not connected might be very troublesome, I hope u understand.Originally posted by kenmin:definitely not. because LTA already stated that this line serves Bukit Panjang.
I don't think it was dropped. It's still in the developmental stages, same for the stop b/w Yishun and Sembawang.Originally posted by tranquilice:As for Sungei Kadut, LTA had plan to build a MRT station there, on the Woodlands MRT extension, but was later dropped.
u mean a left turn fr BP station and end at CCK?Originally posted by cck_190:No,no,no. I mean that Choa Chu Kang might be an interchange. The train might pass through there before going into the City. But somehow I think that LTA will never build a MRT station in an industrial area. Maybe the station will only be build when Sungei Kadut is redeveloped?Originally posted by kenmin:It was not dropped. it's a future station just like Dover which was constructed on an existing line. even the code has been reserved for it. Maybe cck190 means a direct MRT connection from CCK to Bt Timah/Dunearn Rd, and not having to take LRT and transfer at Bt Panjang?Originally posted by kenmin:u mean a left turn fr BP station and end at CCK?
these 2 places r already connected by BPLRT mar.
