yup. it will be redeveloped in the future in god knows when. by then, the station will be constructed.Originally posted by tranquilice:But somehow I think that LTA will never build a MRT station in an industrial area. Maybe the station will only be build when Sungei Kadut is redeveloped?
Everyone would like a direct link instead of a transfer. However, unless there is a high demand, it is a waste of money to have 2 systems running in parallel.Originally posted by tranquilice:Maybe cck190 means a direct MRT connection from CCK to Bt Timah/Dunearn Rd, and not having to take LRT and transfer at Bt Panjang?
Yes, u do understand. It would pass through CCK then Bt Panjang than to Bt Timah/ Dunearn Road.Originally posted by tranquilice:Maybe cck190 means a direct MRT connection from CCK to Bt Timah/Dunearn Rd, and not having to take LRT and transfer at Bt Panjang?
NE2 would have been built near Spottisewood Park estate by logic, near the KTM rail station, but since the land is completely built up NE2 will not happen anytime soon.Originally posted by disappear:NS6 is Kadut....there is NS12 too.....
Any idea what is NE2?
and of course the sg gov cannot use the malaysian land at the railway station. It seems impossible for that.Originally posted by SBS9818A:NE2 would have been built near Spottisewood Park estate by logic, near the KTM rail station, but since the land is completely built up NE2 will not happen anytime soon.
My wish is granted. LTA is conducting a feasibility study to extend EWL from Boon Lay to Jurong Industrial Estate.Originally posted by iamgoondu:I would like to have an extension of EW lines to Jurong Industrial Estates and Tuas instead. There are many workers working in Tuas and they are are spending much of their time travelling. Imagine another 30minutes ride from Boon Lay to Tuas?
Hmm,If that really happens,Pity our JIS cause some of the svs had to be withdrawn. The JIS really a legend there man!Originally posted by iamgoondu:My wish is granted. LTA is conducting a feasibility study to extend EWL from Boon Lay to Jurong Industrial Estate.
Though a Multi Storey Carpark is blocking its way, as said, we can tear down our National Library, what's a MSC?
However, I have to agree with kenmin that it's waste of money for two paraell running MRT lines.Originally posted by cck_190:Yes, u do understand. It would pass through CCK then Bt Panjang than to Bt Timah/ Dunearn Road.![]()
I think the multi-story carpark is necessary, the MRT line could possibly be diverted to ply above the road, following that of C'wealth Ave and New Upp Changi Rd.Originally posted by iamgoondu:My wish is granted. Though we tear down National Library, we have rebuilt it.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I think the multi-story carpark is necessary, the MRT line could possibly be diverted to ply above the road, following that of C'wealth Ave and New Upp Changi Rd.
Last year, the National Library Board took over half the entire official Mita budget - $283 million, largely for a building redevelopment project whose first phase is already billed at $740 million.[/red]
Since when the MRT line ply above a MSCP??!Originally posted by SBS9818A:I think the multi-story carpark is necessary, the MRT line could possibly be diverted to ply above the road, following that of C'wealth Ave and New Upp Changi Rd.
I am just as puzzled for I am pretty familiar with Commonwealth Ave. I believe the author refers to the current construction of Queenway/Commonwealth Tunnel. The Queensway Tunnel ply 'UNDER' the MRT line. And not the MRT line ply 'ABOVE' the tunnel.Originally posted by service_238:Since when the MRT line ply above a MSCP??!
I don't know what the viaduct between Boon Lay Station till the endpoint before the carpark is used for? Does the MRT trains actually use it? I think that usually after Boon Lay the train will go backward again.......if they want to retains the carpark is it possible for this stretch of the viaduct to be rebuilt into a gradually downslope and by the time it reach the carpark it is already underground? (like beyond expo, it does not hesitate to immediately slope downwards to go underground.....) then it can alway come out of the ground before reaching the next station.....(the marsiling to kranji also go underground for a while..)Originally posted by tranquilice:If you have went to the end point of the viaduct after Boon Lay station, you would have noticed that the multi-storey carpark (block 659) is indeed blocking the path of the extension. If this carpark is to be saved from demolition, this mean that after the end point, there has to be a sharp right bend but this technically sounds impossible. The carpark has to go.
As for the remaining stretch of Jurong West St 63, the area outside the food court (block 651A/B) is too cramped to build a MRT viaduct. I will be very interested how the LTA is going to come out with the alignment.
As reported in yesterday Shin Min Daily Times (Chinese newspaper), the extension will be around 4km long to Joo Koon Rd.
That part of the viaduct actually serve no purpose, but in rainy weather, if the trains over-run the station, then at least the train still has a distance to stop and reverse.Originally posted by disappear:I don't know what the viaduct between Boon Lay Station till the endpoint before the carpark is used for? This is just my imagination, anyhow say one.......

they just need to leave a safety distance for the train. the rest of the viaduct could be removed.Originally posted by tranquilice:That part of the viaduct actually serve no purpose, but in rainy weather, if the trains over-run the station, then at least the train still has a distance to stop and reverse.Once in a while, trains do park at this stretch of the viaduct to wait for their departure.
It's already stated that the extension will be elevated.
The viaduct can be used to park trains too.Originally posted by disappear:I don't know what the viaduct between Boon Lay Station till the endpoint before the carpark is used for? If there is really no choice the MRT viaduct may have to climb, and go above the carpark.Originally posted by disappear:i realised that the distance between the station till the end point is actually quite short.. If the viaduct is to go downslope right after Jurong West St 64 and reach underground before the carpark, it has to go very steeply down which i don't think will happen... I think that the MSCarpark may really has to disappear somewhere else before the gradual downslope can be formed....
If they don't want to make this underground pathway, the space above ground they have is looks like quite cramped and maybe some things have to be removed to make way for the viaduct line.......
Perhaps they can rebuilt part of the viaduct after the boon lay station to turn gradually rightward so as to go past the carpark if they really need it there...but beyond that, if they don't go underground for a while, i don't know how it will be able to squeeze in the viaduct in that area. maybe they can built it on top of the Jurong West St 63 Road but that road is not wide enough, unless they widens it...
