Bus Fare Cap + Rebates Queries

According to the SBS Transit website,
"From 1st October 2002, SBS Transit will cap the maximum fare for a journey at $1.90, regardless of the number of bus transfers a commuter makes on our basic bus services which excludes Nite Owl services and Express services."
Does the price cap include MRT rides and TIBS buses? For rebates, is it true that you will enjoy it when you board a bus after an MRT ride and also when you ride the MRT after a bus ride or is it just one of the either? If there are rebates, how long is the time span over which the transfer must be made? -

For adults it's between 45min - 1.5 hr depending on the fare.

actually i've been told by TransitLink for the SBST rebates u have to board the next bus or NEL ride within 30 minutes of alighting.. and it is likely to be so when they finalised the software for ez-link..

Yes. I believe that is the case. Then what about taking a TIBS bus after SBST ride? still 30 mins? For SBST rebates, the time period is only 30 minutes. However, there are some buses with waiting times longer than 30 minutes, e.g. max waiting time of 103W is 40 minutes. Is this fair?

i think the govt shld be a price cap on public transport... since sbs transit and trans island are the only major providers of public transport..
else...the next time we take bus.. the fare wil be like $3?!?!

regarding buses with waiting times with more than 30 mins, it's SBST's rule, we can't do anything bout it, but it's alright for most situations bah.. -
before ez-link it's 4 trips and the time between the first trip boarding and fourth trip boarding must not exceed 2 hours.. next time, for what the notices suggest, is unlimited rides for $1.90.. if it turns out to be so then we'll be happy bus spotting..Originally posted by off_service:I do think there's rules and regulations. I think the fare cap has the condition of unlimited bus rides within 2 hours after the boarding of the first bus. SBST wont be that dumb to implement it the whole day. No need... JC1s just need to extend their concession at any Transitlink office or Add Value Machines... It's only those who completed A Levels in 2003 that are paying adult fares now... Anyway, for such people, the card expires on 29 Jun 2004. After which, the adult Ez-Link card has to be bought.

To qualify for transfer rebates, please ensure that your transfer is made within the allowed time :
From MRT/LRT to bus, bus to bus, or bus to MRT/LRT, you must transfer to the next service within 45 minutes of exit from MRT/LRT gate or from tapping the card on the bus exit card-reader.
For all concessionary travel on buses or trains, the time allowed for the next transfer will also be 45 minutes of exit from MRT/LRT gate or from tapping the card on the bus exit card-reader.
The first, second and third valid transfers on a journey must be made within 2 hours of the first boarding on the same journey. -
I tried before...
clementi road to bt timah road (151)
bt timah road to little india (66)
little india to hougang ave 8 (147)
hougang av 8 to hougang ave 9 (322)
total fare 1.90.... my last trip is totally free.. with a span of 2 hours.... -
think you take 74 from bt timah to hg ave 8 faster than 66 and then 147... will save you up to 45 minutes

no la... sometimes ppl wan to pick up sth frm little india or sth.. hard to sae..
anyway i tried taking NEL to Sengkang and bus back to AMK.. there was no fare cap.. so it does not apply to NEL as i previously thought.. wonder why they are not encouraging ppl to take the LRT or feeder then NEL and pay only $1.90 when they don't have enough demand... -
The fare cap only works on journeys involving solely SBS Transit buses (non-Express, non-NightRiders).
