SBS 997 A would have more problems accessing the basements of Changi Airport PTBs compared to due to the "inflexibility" of the bus. Manuvouring in the basement is another issue.
Yeah man,If not for those restrictions,Changi airport should have dd's & bendies buses.I believe that some of the tourists prefer taking buses rather than taking cabs or rental cars. What a pity!Originally posted by TIB1186Z:hmmm.....interesting....
997A can access the basement if the driver is skillful enough. But let me point out where it is going to get its butt jammed
Ter 1: Pretty straight basement, but manouvering out of the right lane ( boarding side ) to the left lane would pose some problem. Some novice drivers can take a full minute to turn that "S" shaped bend without hitting anything
Ter 2: Oh no! It can be a handy barricade destroyer though
Its full of tight turns and bends especially Ter 2 is now being upgraded, and yes, it includes the basement.
Regarding DDs, the DDs can easily pass in Ter1 and out again due to the 4.5m height restriction. However, it will be stuck at the entrance to Ter 2 basemnt with a clearance of approx 3.0m, or the roof will be ripped off.
I think that theoretically, Bendies should be able to access the basements as they have a smaller turning radius than the normal 12m buses, with possibly the exception of the ultra-long SBS998Y ( does anyone know?) I would very much want to see SBS999U on service 36cos it deserves that. A Habit or a Volgren on service 858 in the morning shift change at 7-8am would also be a nice idea.
Pls share ur ideas on this![]()
The height clearance of terminal 2 basement is 3.8m. You can see the sign on the right near the security post or the green overhead sign at the entrance of the basement.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Regarding DDs, the DDs can easily pass in Ter1 and out again due to the 4.5m height restriction. Any idea where will the bus station be?Originally posted by SBS9818A:Tourists would only take buses if they are travelling on a shoestring budget. Hopefully the Changi Airport centralised bus station comes into play, and double-decks can be introduced on Sv. 27, Sv. 53, and O405Gs on Sv. 858. I miss my 989.
Terminal 3 i presume..Originally posted by tranquilice:Any idea where will the bus station be?
The entrance gate to Terminal 1 basement is 4.5m tall, but at the basement entrance, if you notice carefully, there's a sign showing 3.8m or 3.9m in height.Originally posted by tranquilice:The height clearance of terminal 2 basement is 3.8m. The 3.0m sign is for vehicles turning left before the security post.
To avoid confusion. The Volvo DM3500-bodied is essentially an updated variant of the B10M Mark 4 chassis, with new engines. I would think the DM3500s, 96XX-series VOs, Tridents, the newer O405Gs and Lances conforms to the Euro-2 emission standards. Correct me if I'm wrong.Originally posted by carbikebus:Wonder why some ppl called the volvo dm3500 mark 5?What about the emissions standard for dm3500, latest volvo olympian 96xx series,Dennis tridents,TIBS MB0405g & Dennis lance both volgrens,is it euro 1 or 2?
I got the same thinking about that too,Can someone confirm on that?Originally posted by Superbus:To avoid confusion. Cheers and warm regards
"MK5" is just a nickname for the MK4 DM3500, which is quite a mouthful to pronounce. Also, as it is a newer product compared to the older MK4s, even I made a mistake last time by calling it "MK5". Hence the nickname is born.Originally posted by carbikebus:I got the same thinking about that too,Can someone confirm on that?
Selamat hari raya haji especially to superbus, bus guide, yusry & others too.Enjoy your holiday!
Service 2Originally posted by carbikebus:Yo guys,do you'll think it is possible that the sbst artic buses sbs998/999 could ply svs 2/23/30/196 or 197 routes?
I think that the services mention above deserves this buses more than svs 18,don't you agreed?
Sv. 23 has enough DDs. For Sv. 196 and Sv. 197, there is NO space at Bedok.Originally posted by carbikebus:Yo guys,do you'll think it is possible that the sbst artic buses sbs998/999 could ply svs 2/23/30/196 or 197 routes?

These services mentioned are using double deckers as majority of the fleet, so there's no need for a bendy bus.Originally posted by carbikebus:Yo guys,do you'll think it is possible that the sbst artic buses sbs998/999 could ply svs 2/23/30/196 or 197 routes?

No hazard to me. The terminal has more than ample lots for the only service 2.Originally posted by off_service:Service 2
It will be a hazard at the narrow Changi Village Terminal.
As for sv 196, Clementi is also too small to house a articulated bus.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Sv. 23 has enough DDs. For Sv. 196 and Sv. 197, there is NO space at Bedok.
The place is indeed too small. Clementi needs an expansion, fast!Originally posted by off_service:As for sv 196, Clementi is also too small to house a articulated bus.
