What to do, to cater to the student population the frequency has to be good.Originally posted by Qoo`~`:my god~! this is damn ridiculous man... cannot like this lar.. waste commuter's money and fare kept increasing!!!!
nope 74's freq has been set at 2-4 mins since 199x liao....Originally posted by iamgoondu:Don't get me wrong, I am just as frustrate when my bus does not turn up after 20 minutes.
However, my observation (last year) was that SBST74 indeed has pretty good frequency compare to many other services that ply along Commonwealth Ave West. Perhaps they had changed their schedule this semester.
Perhaps, they want you to travel by trains? And had cut down SBST 74 frequency.
At most only 2 TIBS 106 arrive at the same time at a bus stop, unlike SBST 74, it was not uncommon to have 3~4 to arrive at the same time. What does it show? SBST 74 has pretty high frequency.
Yes, I totally agree that SBST has very good frequency.Originally posted by xin1jun2:nope 74's freq has been set at 2-4 mins since 199x liao....
can check bsu guides if u want proof

242 has a frequency of what, 2 mins and almost full fleet of 3-axle LOs shared with Sv. 179Originally posted by th1988:238 is 4 mins and it is not comparable to 242.
Also 154 have a pm peak hour frequency of 4 mins (To BNL) as well.
Precisely Singapore is small and the car population is increasing, no one knows how the traffic would be but in Australia, there're not as many jams as you can see in Singapore.Originally posted by froggie:I never thought that the bus service in Singapore is good or anywhere near good and to think that its such a small country. Just to share with the fellow forum mates my experience in a foreign country and their public transport. When I was in Brisbane, Australia, I was staying with my friends whom were studying there. They did not have a car so I have to take bus from the suburd to the city area. To think that it a big country the bus system is damn good lor. The regular bus-takers will have a bus arrival schedule telling you what time the bus that you are taking would be here and I was so surprise the the timing is damn accurate lor. So you don't have to be waiting at the bus stop not knowing when the bus will be coming. I think its damn cool. But here in Singapore? Really cannot make it man.![]()
Instead of stopping the increasing number of cars, they are taking away bus services and introduce more train services.Originally posted by service_238:Precisely Singapore is small and the car population is increasing, no one knows how the traffic would be but in Australia, there're not as many jams as you can see in Singapore.
That's true. Aussie buses are very punctual, not like here where you can wait and wait and wait and no bus comes.Originally posted by froggie:I never thought that the bus service in Singapore is good or anywhere near good and to think that its such a small country. can we all conbime and send a petition to the straits times??? Juz found out from the bus driver on 14 that all the train and bus shedules have been changed..bus and train frequencies are now longer....I thought TIBS was the only one doing it....now SBST also must join in the fun...Originally posted by froggie:Wah a lot of people agree with me leh. I doubt that statement. I still enjoy the same waiting times for buses and trains since 2-5 years ago.Originally posted by rancour5:Juz found out from the bus driver on 14 that all the train and bus shedules have been changed..bus and train frequencies are now longer....
The NEL does not have enough passenger demand, that's why there are more vancant seats in NEL trains than EWL/NSL triains.Originally posted by iamgoondu:Don't forget that every service improvement comes with a price. And it would justify their fare adjustment this year.
Irregard which NEL stations you boarded, you bound to have seats if not ample standing place. It justify the 5cents or 10cents premium one has to pay to ride on the NEL line. In fact those riding on NEL should pay more than those on SMRT trains. All riders after Boon Lay station probably has to stand during their whole trip.
you probably havent been taking enough transport then..Originally posted by service_238:I doubt that statement. I still enjoy the same waiting times for buses and trains since 2-5 years ago.
I am taking buses very frequently and i beg to differ. SMRT had improved on their morning frequency for the NS line if you had been observant enough, especially for the 0630-0730 period. The timimg at Yishun is now every 2-3 minutes when i can wait for 8-10 minutes 2 years ago for a train!!Originally posted by rancour5:you probably havent been taking enough transport then..All buses shedule push back by 1 to 5 minutes. trains push back by 1 or 2 minutes during off peak..from 6 minutes to 7 minutes or 8 minutes depending on which stops and line. Suppose to cut costs abd maximise profit..besides buses can have more rest..getting old liao..
I'm still unhappy with the EWL East bound train waiting time. Between 0656 to 0705 hr, one East bound train is equavilent to the arrival of 3 trains from the middle platform (from Woodlands). All the trains are packed like sardines. I hope SMRT would improve on that.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:I am taking buses very frequently and i beg to differ. Feeder wise, svc 806 frequency had also notably improved and meets with the LTA requirement of 7minutes. In the past, they view svc806 as an auxilliary svc to svc804 and suka suka increase the frequency with serious repercussions, including a letter to the Straits Times forum that probably got the MP involved. Moreover, svc 806 had became 100% Bendy wef from early 2002.
yah even my 198 timetable has fallen back to like 197's one..12 mins per bus during peak .Originally posted by rancour5:you probably havent been taking enough transport then..All buses shedule push back by 1 to 5 minutes. trains push back by 1 or 2 minutes during off peak..from 6 minutes to 7 minutes or 8 minutes depending on which stops and line.
