Anyway, think about it.
If all buses are to be extremely direct to their destination, we will be back in the 80s.
For example, services like 82, 86 and 107, which all link Punggol, Hougang (Tampines Way) and Serangoon directly to Shenton Way via a 80% - 90% common route.
So a bit of diversion to maximise convenience without wasting too much resources can be a good thing. -

I think that SBST should just divert service 4 to ply Jln Eunos and Bedok Reservoir Rd, instead of coming out with service 21.
Regarding the amendment of service 67 to replace service 4 from Sims Ave to Tampines, SBST should just extend service 26 instead. In this way, service 67 can continue to ply PIE, Jln Kolam Ayer and Bendemeer Rd while service 23 can be withdrawn. -

However, with the removal of duplicates after NEL opening, getting from Kovan to National Skin Center by bus now require 3 trips.... Kovan to serangoon then Transfer 21 near Boon keng area. They are forcing people to use the MRT. Do they really provides alternatives to to NEL? The NEL is built to cater for the convience of people staying at punggol and SengKang that are too far north. I wonder if the Authorities would ever reliease that travelling in Northeast corridor especially for people staying at kovan area is geting very cumbersome and more inconvience. Maybe they have over remove duplicates. -

The winding around Novena area is required for it to serve the St. Michael's estate. An alternative is for it to exit immediately to Bendemeer Rd from Lavender St, instead of going into Moulmein Rd and then into Thomson Rd.. However, it will skip Novena MRT in the process, and hence, lose a lot of pax, as many rely on svc21 and 131 back to St. Michael's. The rather high average age of the residents in the Whompoa area also meant tt svc 21 has to be kept to provide an easy and convenient link to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
However, I do find the Bedok and Tampines sector rather long-winded, like plying Bedok reservoir Rd for the entire stretch. However, its circuit is justified on the basis of providing east district residents with a direct link to many places. -
Actually Service 21 provides a lot of links between the east and the the Geylang/Boon Keng Areas. It also provides links between Pasir Ris and Bedok Reservoir.
Althought the route might be rather long, it does serve a purpose. -
why does 161 starts form HGN rather than Serangoon Central?Currently there is no link from serangoon to Woodlands.
