Yes, there was. Bedok to Marina Centre via Shenton Way. Still amazes me how powerful the Atlanteans were when it went up the slip road ramp to ECP (Changi Airport).Originally posted by delonchew:I vaguely remembered (just today) that there was a Service 8 (not the current Tampines - Toa Payoh one) which plied from Bedok to Shenton Way. Think it used Leyland Atlanteans.
Then shouldn't it be Bedok - Shenton Way via Marina Centre?Originally posted by Superbus:Yes, there was. Bedok to Marina Centre via Shenton Way. Still amazes me how powerful the Atlanteans were when it went up the slip road ramp to ECP (Changi Airport).
Cheers and warm regards
I'm really interested to see how the route goes.Originally posted by Yusry:If I'm not wrong, it started off as a Bedok - Shenton Way bus. (via Guillemard Road and Nicoll Highway and subsequently Bedok South and ECP)
But towards the year of withdrawal, it was changed to Bedok - Marina Centre via Shenton Way, which by itself, is a bit on the funny side as it passes Marina Centre twice.
Need to check the bus guides to confirm this....
This look similar to the route of former Express 503 (Tampines - Marina Centre via Bedok, Marine Parade, ECP and Shenton Way).Originally posted by Yusry:If I'm not wrong, it started off as a Bedok - Shenton Way bus. (via Guillemard Road and Nicoll Highway and subsequently Bedok South and ECP)

I'm not sure if what you said meant the same thing, but sv 961C (weekend route) passes by Marina Centre in both directions (Towards Geylang Lor 1 and Woodlands).Originally posted by Yusry:But towards the year of withdrawal, it was changed to Bedok - Marina Centre via Shenton Way, which by itself, is a bit on the funny side as it passes Marina Centre twice.
Nope. I meant more like the following:Originally posted by off_service:I'm not sure if what you said meant the same thing, but sv 961C (weekend route) passes by Marina Centre in both directions (Towards Geylang Lor 1 and Woodlands).
If the driver forgot to change the EDS display, you will find yourself ending up at the wrong place.
I think it would be safer to ask where the bus is going to avoid such mistakes.Originally posted by off_service:I'm not sure if what you said meant the same thing, but sv 961C (weekend route) passes by Marina Centre in both directions (Towards Geylang Lor 1 and Woodlands).

Yes, service 36 indeed ply Marina Centre twice, it ply Temasek Blvd, Raffles Blvd and Raffles Ave towards Orchard, and ply Temasek Blvd and Temasek Ave towards Changi Airport.Originally posted by Yusry:Nope. I meant more like the following:
If SBST said that service 36 plies between Changi Airport and Marina Centre via Orchard, service 36 would pass "Marina Centre" twice. This was the case with former service 8.
But in "different" directions.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes, service 36 indeed ply Marina Centre twice, it ply Temasek Blvd, Raffles Blvd and Raffles Ave towards Orchard, and ply Temasek Blvd and Temasek Ave towards Changi Airport.
How different?Originally posted by SBS9818A:But in "different" directions.
One is towards Tomlinson Road, the other is towards Changi Airport.Originally posted by tranquilice:How different?
Do you have the route? Can post here? Quite confusing.Originally posted by Yusry:One is towards Tomlinson Road, the other is towards Changi Airport.
However for former service 8, in the direction towards "Marina Centre via Shenton Way", it passes Marina Centre twice.
It's just naming convention, if the loop point was Shenton Way, then Marina Square would only be passed by once in each direction.
It's just a simple Bedok - Shenton Way, but SBS decided to call it Bedok - Marina Centre.Originally posted by tranquilice:Do you have the route? Can post here? Quite confusing.
Hmm, even SBST back in the old days loved confusing Singaporeans.Originally posted by Yusry:It's just a simple Bedok - Shenton Way, but SBS decided to call it Bedok - Marina Centre.
Maybe becoz Bedok-Marina Centre sounds nicerOriginally posted by Yusry:It's just a simple Bedok - Shenton Way, but SBS decided to call it Bedok - Marina Centre.
Is there a change in route? In the past replies, you mentioned that this service at first plied Bedok - Shenton Way via Marina Centre, but later became Bedok - Marina Centre via Shenton Way.Originally posted by Yusry:It's just a simple Bedok - Shenton Way, but SBS decided to call it Bedok - Marina Centre.

From Changi/Nicoll Highway to ECP, but I am not sure whether the desto change was made at the same time.Originally posted by tranquilice:

Did service 8 exited ECP at Rochor Rd (like service 36) or at Keppel Rd (like service 30)?Originally posted by Yusry:From Changi/Nicoll Highway to ECP, but I am not sure whether the desto change was made at the same time.
I believed it was at Rochor Road, but somehow inclined to believe that Keppel Road was a possible exit - which would alleviate passing by Marina Centre twice.Originally posted by tranquilice:Did service 8 exited ECP at Rochor Rd (like service 36) or at Keppel Rd (like service 30)?
Which reminds me, once it is closed, where will the guides go?Originally posted by Yusry:I believed it was at Rochor Road, but somehow inclined to believe that Keppel Road was a possible exit - which would alleviate passing by Marina Centre twice.
Until someone checks the bus guides at NLB, we would not know for sure.
