How do you know the distance? Why on earth are you so concerned with timetables only? THESE THINGS ARE NOT ACCURATE!Originally posted by th1988:Distance is more than 20km and since the bus can only move up to 60km/hr. Obviously the limiter is tampered.
Even if there is timetable, the total jorney time is 65 min. Trellis Twr to MP is 22 mins.
If the timetable is not accurate, tell this to Tibs. Tibs won't believe you as it is a difference of 60% of time.
I mean look at maths, if dist is 21km, then it takes 21 mins. What abt Traffic lights, BS stopping?
Yes, Eunos to Jln TPY can be achieved in 10-15 mins. Looks like our th1988 has never taken Sv. 966 before!Originally posted by service_238:both of u shut your gap.
what SBS9818A meant i think was that from the moment the bus enters BKE to the time it reaches TPY area, it takes 18 min. From what i can see is that it takes 6-7min to clear Woodlands area. But then again he might be correct because i had experienced once on 966.
Eunos MRT - Jln Toa Payoh = 10min.
The time spent on PIE alone was only 5min!
The traffic conditions on the PIE then was average without any severe jams. Everything was free flowing despite the amount of vehicles on the road.
I would like you to try out the route itself. Service 966 NEEDS to clear the Woodlands - Jalan Toa Payoh stretch between 20 - 30 minutes or the bus would be behind schedule.Originally posted by th1988:I just went to Tibs website, from WDL Int to Trellis Twr takes 42 mins! Obviously the bus is moving more than 60km/hr as the dist is abt 20km
You must have failed maths. To cover 20km in 18 mins is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE. You never learn or let anything get into your head, don't you?Originally posted by th1988:Ok, anyway
It is impossible to cover 20km in 18 mins.
I checked the road map, dist from WDL Int to Trellis Twr is 20km.
As your tell me that the timetable is inaccurate, I can tell you this, the drivers are supposed to tell their heads abt the inaccurate timetable.
Apparently th1988 thinks the last point is the case. Interesting that TIB972C was going at 29km/h but made it from WRI to Trellis in 18 mins!Originally posted by service_238:Let's have a math lesson here..
20km in 18min means the average speed is 66.667 km/h
20km in 30min means the average speed is 40.000 km/h
20km in 42min means the average speed is 28.571 km/h!
Do u think a TIBS bus would be CRAWLING on the BKE and PIE?
So they tampered the speed limiter, or the bus does not have speed limter at all.Originally posted by SBS9818A:You must have failed maths. To cover 20km in 18 mins is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE. You never learn or let anything get into your head, don't you?
The guide of how many hundred metres to 1 farestop is not correct. Somehow farestages are not using that guideline now.Originally posted by th1988:So they tampered the speed limiter, or the bus does not have speed limter at all.
The average speed is 67 km/hr. But what is the most bus can move with speed limiter?
WHY on earth are you ALWAYS so concerned with speed limiters, or lack thereof? Buses can go at a max of 70km/h w/ speed limiter installed.Originally posted by th1988:So they tampered the speed limiter, or the bus does not have speed limter at all.

Rules are dead but humans are flexible.Originally posted by th1988:I have written this matter to Tibs.
When they reply, just let the matter solve. But this will take time to get a reply from them as they need to check.
I agree. If we all were to operate by rules we'd be robots working to command.Originally posted by off_service:Rules are dead but humans are flexible.
Can anyone know the speed limit. Is it 60 or 70km/hr?Originally posted by SBS9818A:WHY on earth are you ALWAYS so concerned with speed limiters, or lack thereof? Buses can go at a max of 70km/h w/ speed limiter installed.

Speed Limiters is a must on all buses, it is a crime to tamper or not installing it. It can led to jail term and fine.
Before anyone get jailed, I believe you will be charged for making so many calls to SBST CRC till the calls become some sort of nonsensical calls.Originally posted by th1988:Can anyone know the speed limit. Is it 60 or 70km/hr?

I will be waiting to see in the papers, reports about the top brass of SBST and TIBS going to jail.Originally posted by th1988:Can anyone know the speed limit. Is it 60 or 70km/hr?

You got connection with TP & LTA is it?Speed limiter?Well my uncle blast his private bus all the way at SLE in the morning hours @85km/h.To me,The speed limiter is just rubbish,Whatever vehicles category in S'pore had to go for the "speed restricter" test first before they being sold/used,Let alone buses.Originally posted by th1988:Can anyone know the speed limit. Don't forget the traffic lights at Woodlands area and bus stop times. It's likely the buses are going slightly faster than 60km/h.Originally posted by delonchew:I will be waiting to see in the papers, reports about the top brass of SBST and TIBS going to jail.
If speed limiters are a must on all buses, how come I see Singapore-Johore Express buses roaring past my poor TIBS O405, slowly rumbling along BKE? It's so sad to see the forlorn look on the faces of the poor TIBS drivers who are unable to catch up with the Singapore-Johore Express.
Let's put things this way. I have taken 966 a few times before. It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the stop opposite CJC. Put the distance as 20km as you have mentioned.
20 mins = 1/3 of an hour.
Speed = Distance / Time = 20 / (1/3) = 60km/h
Therefore, the bus could not have exceeded the speed limit of 60km/h. It isn't that great a matter if bus drivers exceed the speed limits by a bit. If everyone is so concerned about speed limits, then let me assure you that there will be far more accidents on the roads now. Why? Because everybody will be trying to peer at their speedometers while driving.
