i know where's 20L....haha....long since i went to airport already....Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:This is definately an off-topic.
Anyway, I was at the airport with my friends to watch the plane take off. The aircraft,9V-SGA. The first A340-500 delivered to SQ on 3rd January 2004, took off today at Terminal 2 runway 20L. (For those aviation fans, you will know this runway).
I am very happy that SQ which is our homeland for most of us here has the previleage to break the world's record for operating the longest commercial flight. Let's hope there will be more SIN-US flights in the future. New York will be next in June.

The SIN-JFK route will begin on June 28th, 2 months ahead of the earlier scheduled launch date. If proved successful, SQ might opt for the 5 A345s on option to firm orders. And more US destinations can be introduced with the increased fleet.Originally posted by th1988:Even if it is off-topic, is a new plane journey
I think SIA will start a new direct sv to JFK, when is it? Are there other lines using 345?
Correction , Qatar's A340-500 is only used for VIP's flight. Air Canada did not take delivery of the A340-500 because of financial problem, the 2 Air Canada's A340-500 has gone to Emirates. Emirates is currently operating 4 A340-500s, (A6-ERA - A6-ERD).Originally posted by Superbus:3 other airlines is operating the Airbus A340-500 aircraft; Qatar Airways, Emirates and Air Canada.
